For first time visitors, things to do in Yangon: 1. Visit ShweDagon Pagoda, 2. Relax one corner at Mahabandula Park nearby Yangon Cityhall 3.. Visit Chauk Htat Kyi Pagoda. 4. Visit Htauk Kyant War Memorial Cemetery (near Yangon) 5. Take a boat ride in Yangon river. 6. Try street foods at Yangon Chinatown. (but be aware of food poisoning though) ..and if u want a good sleep and rest avoid staying at the downtown hostels or hotels unless you are staying at big five star hotels ..

    Hi, Jesper and Vanessa! 👋
I wish I can visit Myanmar too. 😍
We have shared many things in common among our neighbors. Like chewing the betel quid, when I was a child almost 30years ago I saw many elder people in Cambodia also chewed the betel quid. After the studies have found that chewing it will harm our healths, It's become rear to find elders here chewing it any more but still little few we can find in the isolated rural parts of the country. Surprisingly that Burma people still keep their traditions well. Maybe visit there I might miss some of my old-time memories.
    Always be safe, guys!!!! 👍

When I was young, I usually put Thanakha on my face during staying at home. As soon as put on the face, my face feel suddenly cool and love the scent of Thanakha.

Those outfit men wear is definitely not skirt. That is called long- gyi. You may feel suprise to see but that is our traditions which we maintained it for many centuries and men love to wear it. We are proud of being able to maintain our traditional men wear. 😊😊. Women apply “ Tha - na - Khar" on our faces as our natural and traditional skin care. You may feel awkward but that is our tradition and we love it. That is really good for skin. Thanks for your video. 😊😊

My maternal great grandparents are Shan people from Shan State, the northeastern state of Myanmar. Shan traditional food includes pickles and tofu.
So good to see u trying my traditional food. You should also try Myee Shay in eathware pot, kout hnyin htote (steamed rice in banana leaf), Shan pae pote and pickled tea salad.

2:32 yes, unfortunately, Myanmar doesn't have a strong law for that yet or police to enforce it and it has to come from the awareness of individual and responsibility to the community level then it is easy to make the law. The law is useless when no one is obeying it. They actually have the law but as I said, everything needs to start from the mindset and individual. The country was under the military dictatorship for almost 70 years, people's mindset is not like every day you see back in Sweden. Back in the 50s, it was one of the top Asia countries in terms of economics and politics but it went into one of the poorest countries in the world. Myanmar just started the new government system back in 2010 and that is why the change is very slow but it is in the progress. Of course, compared to the neighboring countries, it is far behind. Thanks for your visit and patient with your new adventure in the new place, on behalf of Myanmar, my apology for the inconvenience along the way :) let's hope in the future, you can safely take the taxi with a proper working seatbelt. :) 5:08 Shan noodle is originated from Shan State, the eastern part of Myanmar. There are around 135 ethnicity groups in Myanmar and Shan is one of them. for the chopsticks, you can ask for spoons and forks, if you are not good with the chopstick. I always do sometime I don't want to use chopsticks. Thanks for sharing a lovely video and hope you will come back again in the future. :) Ha en bra dag!

You should try Shan Noodle in Mandalay. Shop name is Shwe Muse. And also (Mont De) Myanmar Traditional Noodle salad you should try in Mandalay . Both are only best to taste in Mandalay , not in Yangon .

I am enjoying your trip. Abbout the beetle nut it is well known and chewed in Micronesia where I lived for around 5 years only in the island of Yap and you can see many red spits. It is like coca for the natives of highlands in LatinAmerica it stop the hunger pangs and give you energy. Never heard of shizofrenia for chewing this. It can damage the teeth when you are an usual user because the whit dust that comes with the nut and the leave it is a sort of lime. About the yellow dust in the people´s faces what I have read about is to protect from the sun´s damage for the skin. You should have asked directly to the locals. I am dying to go to this country. Loved it. The skirts that you call is the traditional wrap that men and womenn uses in Myanmar speecially in the country. Looks great on men.

Traditional Shan noodles are dry(meaning not a soup)with a lot of oil and cripy bits like fried shallots, onions, etc. Much different.

Well even shan noodles have different types since Shan state is a large one, the way they eat noodles are different in each parts of shan. There are mainly two, northern shan noodles n southern shan noodles. One is a soupy type and another is sticky tomato noodle. I prefer the sticky one. The flavour sticks to the noodle better than the the soupy version. And the one you ate wasn’t authentic 😅 even from my point of view, that didnt look like shan noodle. Just like so e chinese noodle
