- My name is Dependra Gaja. My title is royal elephant, because I am the biggest and the most respected of all the elephants in Nepal. Men think that I am the embodiment of Ganesh, the Hindu god with the head of an elephant.
Dhoraï, my servant is a Cornac. With him, I go through the jungle of the Chitwan reserve, and I help prevent wild animals from threatening Tharus villages. The Tharus and the animals were the first to live on the Teraï plain at the foot of the Himalayas.
