  • Growing up in a fishing family, Krista always knew that her destiny was to captain her own lobster boat. As a third generation lobsterman, she understands the hard work, passion, and grit that comes with the territory. No doubt, she's one of the hardest working people we've ever met.
It wasn't until later in life that she fell in love with another type of work: oyster farming. Krista is now in her third year of owning and operating Aphrodite Oysters, a small farm located in South Thomaston's Weskeag river. When she talks about her love of oysters, the river she grew up on, and the ecosystem in which she tends to her product, she radiates pure joy. We hope her story inspires you to support her, and the other hardworking aquatic farmers building a sustainable seafood future for Maine.
