Scenes like this make you think this is what the mafia life is all about, but Mike’s final scene with the mob makes you realise all these people are just tiny cogs in an unknowably massive system of organised crime.
This song is a masterpiece, and it is used in far too few movies/shows! Here it is used to such a great effect it damned near makes me cry every time!!
@@jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj178 It isn't part of the conversation when people bring up quality tv shows, the roster basically consists of breaking bad [not even better call saul], game of thrones and the walking dead.

i know im late replying, but look up "Boardwalk Empire - Gang wars intro" that was more of a serious opening but at the time it was fantastic esp how the previous episode closed.
Don't know if Scorcese would have used a Tull song though...he was an exec producer on that shitty HBO show Vinyl, and that show made fun of Tull a few times.
I gave up one life some years ago, I spend my time trying to entertain those who had a connection to Fargo season 2 like I did , my own way. And I'm having more fun that I've... ever had. This season was more influential to me than Scorsese or Tarantino - which is saying a lot - I like the odd season (the recent ones) but 2 and 4 (and soon 6) - that's Fargo lore - and the creators .. well they pull out their best untested ideas and they .. just work and set a benchmark they do..
Does anyone else think that the Kitchen brothers are pretty cute and handsome? I love how loyal they are. I also love their outfits. They're both scary and adorable at the same time.
The openings to this show were often great. The only thing I'd change is the text. I didn't realize until after two seasons that the "true story" part was just part of the story telling and not based on actual incidents. Made me feel stupid for believing it.
That intro was created by the Coen Brothers when they made the original movie. There's two guarantees in every Fargo iteration: that it's a "true story," and (practically) everyone dies in the end.
With all due respect, The Sopranos has quite a few brilliant montage scenes like this ruclips.net/video/wMx41rr112Y/видео.html ruclips.net/video/P8i01bL9a8Q/видео.html
LOL. Fuck outta here man, Sopranos is miles ahead of this show in terms of writing, acting, characters. The Sopranos also has some of the best montages around, this one feels more like a rip-off of older, better gangster shows and movies.
Does Ian's voice just elevate this scene or what? I mean honestly. Props to who ever is responsible for the soundtrack. Not picking some shitty shit. Yea. No way to slow down.
I industrial revolution and Jethro Tull plowing and seeding clock mechanism, Band Jethro Tull and flute kinda Yack, Man at Work Down Under where flute shines bright LoL
Ironically, the song choice is Locomotive Breath, the meaning of which as told by Ian Anderson was to reflect upon a society that is out of control in population growth. But here we are in 2023 and now the top brains are saying the human race is in a very precarious position for the exact opposite, that globally the population is dangerously close to the precipice of sudden collapse. Could anyone have seen that coming? Say thirty years ago when the prevailing attitude was that humans will continue breeding out of control until the planet could no longer contain them. For anyone who intrigues themself with these type stories... true crime, organized violence, the pursuit of power... the choice of song is a beautiful commentary that there is nothing guaranteed in this world other than the insane randomness of life.
Wait, so you're saying that there's NOT ENOUGH people?? There is still definitely a population problem, in that there's too fckn many of us. Sure, some countries birth rates have dropped, and that could be a problem with certain aspects of the economy, but go out on the interstate during rush hour and tell yourself that there needs to be more people in the world. Take a drive down the ghettos in your city, looking at the massive amounts of homeless people and trash littering the streets and tell yourself the same thing.
The UFOs are the best part of season 2. A twist of the supernatural exists in every season of the show and it's a callback to the superstitious nature of the Coen Brothers movies.
Fargo as a show was never about Plot and Realism. Fargo as a show is all about Storytelling. You watch Fargo to enjoy their way of telling the different stories that go throughout the series. There is a reason this is an Anthology series. You can dislike Fargo for Plot but to call it boring is just a crime. Season 2 is Peak TV Show along with True Detective Season 1.
Whatever you do. DON'T look up band or song. I saw some kinda old men with bald spots, suffering a mid-life crisis, grinding and head banging on stage. Hard. Just enjoy this intro AS IS. Husband tried to ruin it!
Never too old to rock n' roll, as he sang way back when he was in his twenties. He fucking meant it. Man's gonna keep playing that flute until they bury him.
Dang, talk about an opening.
Long live Jethro Tull ❤️❤️❤️
The soundtrack to Season 2 is outstanding
Season 3 too holy shit their use of music is perfect

Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath

I'd forgotten how good it was.

I think the only other time I’ve heard it in a movie is during the montage when the aunt is cleaning Parrish Mansion in Jumanji
This opening got me into Jethro Tull and now they’re my favorite band
This opening should get an award for best opening
CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED SHOW

Possibly the greatest set-piece created on TV
Best opening
That's how you clean a fuckin window!
great to hear Tull being used to such effect
Almost out tarantinoed Tarantino.
Mucho excellente.

This show (S1-3) knew how to make an intro… and a finale… and everything else in between
Noah Hawley: Any ideas on what music I could use in Fargo? I've set it in 1979.
Aaron Paul: Play some Jethro Tull!
Season 2 by far...Best season of Fargo! And this intro to ep 7 proves it!
I prefer Season 1 (BB Thornton is a beast), but this intro is the BEST I've seen ever. Jethro Tull and Fargo, perfect mix
Completely agree. Season 1 is great but it is over-hyped because of Billy Bob. Patrick Wilson as Lou is the best Fargo protagonist
Fargo universe is superb. Scene’s like this made the show.
I completely forgot this intro had Jethro Tull playing over it. Wow, what a perfect fit.
This show really knew how to build up hype for its own self
Phenomenal opening.
The greatest set piece in the history of television.

This is some serious artwork right here my friends, the music and the everything about this scene!
