- Why did I take the chance of getting another rifle from Royal Tiger Imports?? Well in this video, we unbox the Carcano 1891 Cavalry Carbine, but these Carcanos that are available are actually from Italy. The Italian surplus is better than the Ethiopian surplus that RTI has been known for. Many people have had many complaints dealing with the Ethiopian batch, especially in regards to condition and functionality. The upside to the Ethiopian batch was that many of these historic relics Haven't been imported into the country in decades. There were also some rarities in the batch. The Ethiopian surplus Carcanos were rough, and many of them had poor bores and weren't very accurate. I am hoping I can test out a Carcano from the Italian surplus batch, which I assume is also available elsewhere like Classic. Well, RTI had a Black Friday special I couldn't refuse. I just had to get one and had to decide whether to get a WW1 or WW2 era one. So in this video, we unbox a good bore and condition hand select Italian Surplus Carcano Cavalry Carbine. Fingers crossed when I go to the range and hope to not be disappointed.

RTI has such a bad rep, I was hesitant to order from them when J&G was competitively priced. Looks like you have a real fine carbine. Look forward to seeing the video about how it shoots
Yea I wanted to go today but rainy weather
Great buy. Good luck with future endeavors!
Thanks! Hope to bring more informative content
I like how when you asked Johns opinion, he gives a history lesson instead haha guess he knew what he wanted to say before hand.
Excellent video, not a bad score considering it is from RTI
Lol
Bellissimo !!! 🇮🇹👍👍👍 Greetings from Italy.
It looks like they actually picked you a really nice example. Very rare from RTI
I would guess that’s because it’s Italian surplus and not Ethiopian. I’ve seen some others who got pretty nice Carcanos from them recently.
Only, like one person commented on your Christmas Story reference? ….certainly not your guest lol !
I’m going to use my Carcano for reenacting Volksturm when I’m too old to look acceptable doing German infantry.
Haha! I don’t know if too many young guys get the reference. Keep on reenacting and sharing history 🍻 😁
I got one of these. I was quite impressed. The wood needs work but the bluing is very nice. Not bad for the price.
Totally not bad for the price! Under 200 for a decently well kept WW2 Cavalry Carbine
I got one very similar from DK firearms, who was selling Italian surplus before RTI got a hold of the Italian stuff. Mine came with surface rust but cleaned up great. Looking to get a WW1 example one of these days from RTI
If I was to get another one, I’d opt for a WW1 era Carcano
I ordered 2 of the full size M91s on Black Friday from them and planned on doing an unboxing when mine shows up.
Awesome! Yea they took a little while to ship, my guess is that they got a bunch of orders in
Not bad looking I'm allwase cleptic I'm getting a hand select bore but I have seen some of their stuff that the buyer wishes Thay spent the extra .thanks for the vid
Glad it helped
I have bought two Carcano’s so far, one from PSA (in good shape-dirty as hell though). The other was a Italian Vetterli, that was from RTI. It was in ok shape, decided to refinish it completely (wood and metal) so far so good (still working on it).
Awesome, you plan to shoot the Vetterli? I know C&Rsenal had issues when they were test firing Italian Vetterli rifles, so much so that it was definitely not safe
@@BattlefieldCurator Not sure, I saw video from The!oba49, and he recommends shooting it with recommends loading it with extremely light loads. Since I don’t reload (yet) it will probably become a wall hanger. You know what, I am fine with that.
@@behindenemylines3361 I have a wall hanger Italian Vetterli and a wall hanger Swiss Vetterli
@@BattlefieldCurator How did you mount your guns on the wall? Maybe you could do a video on it (if you haven’t already).
Much want!!!
I'm looking at buying a cavalry carbine from j&g
Hey Dan you know what i have found with the carcanos is the 6 shot clip.. The 6 rd. does not feed correctly it just points up in the mag well and will not chamber. Dan take that one out to the range and shoot it and see if that is the case. THANKS @RUSTYSURPLUS
Yes I’ve noticed that with some rifles and with some clips. One particular clip doesn’t do that, except in a couple refurbished rifles. I’ll probably do a video on it.
@@BattlefieldCurator Hi Dan i have asked around on the 6th round not feeding and know one has the answer. It must be in the clip. I am sure when these were in real service they had to work perfectly and feeding the 6th round. OK see ya soon
The ones from Ethiopia may have the barrel come off the receiver, be careful if you order the 1891 long rifles
Yep there’s a few models of the carbines are actual Italian surplus. The others are Ethiopian
I have an 1891 out of Ethiopia. its actually a pretty decent rifle. Not perfect but nothing out of that cache is. The garand I got from them is probably the best one I've gotten so far.
@@krockpotbroccoli65 thats good, the two I ordered from them barrels twist off the receiver so unshootable
I got a 1891Carcano long rifle from RTI and it's a great gun...
How’s the bore?
It's bore is great very good rifling...
@@tommystone4563 that’s great!
Thank, I've been very lucky with RTI for now...
@@tommystone4563 I too have been fortunate with what I’ve gotten from RTI in the past. I have not been as fortunate with surplus from other distributors.
they shown the good one's, if you order one they send you a junk piece of..."
It’s Fragile Honey 😂
😂
Do you need a ffl dealer to order off of rti?
Yes, you get your FFL dealer to email them their license with your order number on there
Bore looked a little pitted. Hard to tell on a video though.
I looked at it when I got home, it’s dark, needs cleaning didn’t see anything terribly wrong. I’ll see what it looks like after a cleaning
Is this the one going for 150 that states good condition
No, the one in this video is from Ethiopia. The one on their site for 150 is Italian surplus, much nicer condition
@@BattlefieldCurator You say in this video thats it one of the ones labled from italy
If you are looking for a hunting rifle. I think a WWII era rifle is a good choice.
Carcano I thought I was pronounced car-con-no?
