    Bloopers are lessons, too. Thanks for keeping those one “on the shelf”.

    your ability to lose that way sometimes, helps me not feel so bad about my own game. few days ago, i had a game locked up against an opponent much higher ranked than me, got distracted for a moment and made a super terrible decision that took a 99% win to 0% haha. thanks for the vid!

      I wish I could say the same but the truth is I still feel terrible about my games (not only lost onces). Thanks for the video. By the way, I think uploading only won games is not that great because it creates false idea for the beginners that dan players never lose :) Learning from the lost games sometimes is even more valuable than showing the proper way of playing. Drama happening on the board is much more memorable that "boring chillout" :D

    Appreciate your videos. Nobody does the basics, everyone wants to do the complex stuff.

    Thought this was a superb basics game right up until you decided to play n6. One of my recent favorites. Instructive and entertaining!

    I think a more fundamental proverb to decide which is best is "kikashi are light". Leaving the right behind as aji is the right way to treat those moves, as they've already given sufficient value in the fact that your opponent responded to them.

    9:18 I think opponent expected the M13 cut and planned on double atari N15, M14 O16 and try to connect again by pressuring the corner group... ?

    Funny enough, the misclick itself (O11) was literally fine, according to Katago, it's almost the same value as the best move (which is N11 of course, which is where you meant to play). Because it really just gives up a ko threat.
    The disaster was on the next move (answering M8 at Q7), an 84-point mistake! If only you had *noticed* you had misclicked... oh man

    For your DDK fans can you explain the mistake you made? I don't understand it even after watching like 3 times

      The misclick?

    • @KennethDuda
      @KennethDuda Год назад +5

      Dwyrin misclicked on move 143 (23:32), playing O11 instead of N11 (his intended move and the best move). O11 itself is not so bad. White can't cut at N11 (yet) because it would be self atari.
      But then on move 144, white captures at M8. This move is basically a ko threat, threatening to cut at N11. All B needs to do is connect at N11 and the misclick would have made no difference.
      But, since dwyrin didn't notice he had misclicked, he ignored the M8 capture (thinking he was already connected at N11) and play a safety move at Q7, making sure white couldn't cut him there (which white couldn't do anyway so Q7 was kind of unnecessary). This move --- move 145, connecting needlessly iat Q7 instead of at N11, was a 84-point loss (according to katago) because now white cuts at N11 and black completely falls apart. Black cannot win the capture race because one eye beats no eyes. As of 23:45, the white L9 group is suddenly alive, and the black L12 group is all dead, and the game is over!

      @@KennethDudaI think the thing that he doesn't see here is how black "completely falls apart"

    • @KennethDuda
      @KennethDuda Год назад

      @@ThePiotrekpecet yeah good point. Once cut, black falls apart because once white cuts at N11 (at 23:41), the big black L12 group has no eyes at all. That sets up a capture race between the black L12 group and the white N11 group. White will win this capture race because "one eye beats no eyes". You can play it out yourself, but the way to think about a capture race like this is that there are "outer liberties" (like J6 for white or J15 for black) and there are "shared liberties" (like H11). The group with no eyes (black in this case) has to fill in *all* white liberties, both shared and outer, before the group with an eye (white) fills in just black's outer liberties. That's because once black runs out of outer liberties, it becomes impossible for black to put white in atari, because black would be putting himself in atari at the same time, but because white has that precious eye, the same is not true in reverse: white can put black in atari even when white has no outer liberties because the move that puts black in atari leaves white with exactly two liberties: the last shared liberty, and white's eye. So black is doomed.
