State of the River Path

  • August is here! We're coming close to the end of summer, and I had to take a trip to the fabric shop, so I decided to take the river path and see how it's holding up, and I found lots of neat stuff...
It turns out that the City of Reno decided to undergo river path maintenance after all! Earlier this summer they announced that river path maintenance was put on hold, but I discovered asphalt being evened out, closed paths, fortification of the footbridge foundation, and perhaps maybe railing going up? Who knows! Very little has been spoken about what repairs are being done. The asphalt will be slurried.
Additionally, I stopped by the new Reno Police Headquarters construction site, and discovered that they are doubling down on their lack of ADA compliant access to Kuenzli Greenbelt Park. They're fortifying their fence with a cinder block wall, raising the height up an additional 8 feet, equaling a total of 16 feet at the Sutro Street Bridge perimeter. Unbelievable. So much for public safety.
But this fight is not over yet.
