Even outside the bushfire zones, the relentless drought is continuing to cause pain on the land. With dwindling feed on their properties, farmers are being forced to send more and more of their breeding stock to slaughter.
As a result, industry leaders predict it's a matter when, not if, the price of beef will rise.
