Out of all the 'most anticipated' videos I've watched, yours has THE most unique picks. Thank you so much for sharing these - Queen of the Night sounds AWESOME.

Great list, adding some of these to my TBR! And holy crap, I cannot wait for The Raven King. How will we all survive once it's over?!

Loads of great books-- definitely interested to hear more about Every Heart a Doorway, very intriguing cover and synopsis.

Most of these books are way out of my comfort zone, but the way you describe them makes them sound so irresistible and I had to add them to my goodreads to-read list.

I really enjoy your videos. As a PhD student trying to graduate, I'm always searching for some good non-academic reads. You've been my go to source for the last year. Since I am not a writer and know nothing about all things literary, I was wondering if you would consider doing a video explaining some of the literary terms you use in your reviews. I think it would be really enjoyable to view! Not only would I think the YA audience appreciate it (including us older folks who live for YA), it would also bolster the "technicality" of the literary devices used in YA lit. =D thank you! -Sean

I'm predicting you're gonna surpass your GoodReads goal! As a vampire enthusiast, as soon as I heard Impaler I was already scribbling down the title. And I Darken sounds awesome & I'm excited to see the character transformation.... But I'm also nervous because I'm getting Romeo/Juliet vibes from the synopsis.... Eeeekkk

I recently have been taking more time out to read more as I find it's just a nice escapism from the everyday 'hustle & bustle', so coming across your channel is great for recommendations & reviews (as is also a way to keep up with any announcements regarding new music from you! ha) Much love!

Adding these books to my Goodreads list which is one of my goals for 2016 because I don't update it regularly. Lol! Also my Goodreads reading goal is 36 books and I'm so excited because I didn't do this last year so I wanted to participate this year.

I'm excited for The Raven King as well! Ooooo, new Laini Taylor- I hadn't heard about that one yet. If it's anything like the Daughter of Smoke & Bone series, I'm in. I've been seeing buzz about The Queen of the Night and it sounds so interesting. I got a NetGalley email that called Into the Dim "Outlander for teens" and I was like, "Ok, sold, sign me up!"

Anyway it sounds amazing, more villain-esque females please....and it's Kiersten White who has a great writing style, but usually doesn't interest me with her book's premises.

Just curious, could you do a video about books you really did not like? Maybe some you absolutely could not finish because it could not hold your interest, or even some you finished that made you feel unsatisfied, and felt like it almost wasted your time.

All the Birds in the Sky is pretty good. It feels very fairy tale-ish with Sci-fi. Very different from what's out there.
Your fear with the Joe Hill book LOLOLOLOLOLZ.
I need to read The Raven Boys series. I have the first one, but... time. Yeah. ha.
YES STRANGE THE DREAMER. IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER. I WILL READ IT.
I hadn't heard about Roses and Rot, but with a blurb by Neil Gaiman, YAAAASSS.
    Wink, Poppy Midnight!! NEED!!
Every Heart a Doorway, looks interesting! Sounds like an Alice in Wonderland thing.
Ohhhhh! New Pompeii. Adding this to my list along with The Race. Love that cover.
Into the Dim evoked Outlander so obviously I need it.
WAIT.. can we talk about how you haven't seen Friday Night Lights? HOW?

    • @Amerie.
      @Amerie.  8 лет назад

+Cuddlebuggery Book Blog I read the sampler for ALL THE BIRDS... last night and so far, I really like it, and yes very fairy-tale-feeling, especially with the sliding of the food under the door. Funny how it was easier to believe birds could talk than a parent locking a kid up in a room and scraping food beneath a door, right lol? Um, I know. I haven't ever seen Buffy, either. 😁😁😁

+softbreezy thank you! Some of the more recent reads by black authors that I've discussed (and highly recommend!) are: A BRIEF HISTORY OF SEVEN KILLINGS by Marlon James, THE FISHERMEN by Chigozie Obioma, AMERICANAH by Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, and further back, EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING by Nicola Yoon. I may soon read Negroland, a memoir by Margo Jefferson, so look out for that. ^_~
