I am very happy to follow you through your different journeys you have shared with us. “It is not a mom/son blog! Your journey and determination say so much more about life than what a few words can describe. You encourage and inspire me in so many ways. I can not thank you enough for what you represent to me and I am sure the world 🌎. Thank you 🙏 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊
There was never a doubt from US that you could do it! Been watching since day 1. The journey with you has been awesome! Can’t wait to do the happy dance with you at the end. 😊
Sunshine -You can do it! You can do it! You will do it! (and Captain, too of course!). Watch you guys every day you post. Been watching since Lemonade days. Love your attitude and the way you keep it “real!” Speaking of CHEESE (FROMAGE), we are currently spending a month in Montpellier , France. The cheese here is unbelievably delicious! I can’t say how absolutely yummy it is. If I could send you some I would! Keep on keeping on. Thanks to Will for all he does behind the scenes. You all are fantastic. Go! Go! Go! ❤❤❤😊
Fun fact - being poisonous is a chemical defense in plants (flowers, berries) and mushrooms or even some critters like poison dart frogs in that the poison is absorbed into your body through skin or Consumed by eating. Stings and bites inject venom from venomous critters like snakes, spiders, wasps, bees, etc. 😊 Mt. Mooseilauke is one of my all time favorite hikes in New England. You guys are rockin'! HUGS!
Jessica, HANG IN THERE, you can do this, you truly are almost there. Look of what you have done already you are 2/3 of the way to Katahdin. I know it is tough but when you complete this the sense of accomplishment is going to be with you the rest of your life. You and Largo will NEVER forget this journey, and you may never do something as extreme as this again. Not to say that there is still a lot of adventures ahead, and I can't wait for the opportunity to go along with you. My best to Will as he recuperates from his knee surgery. He is a true trooper, and his recovery and rehab will be well on its way by the time you and Largo are finished. I know you are going back to VT to complete the miles that you jumped ahead but due to the time of the year the temps will be better on your side. It may be colder than now, but Maine will be freezing by then. LOL Happy hiking 🥰 Largo, these are memories that you will have forever, and you DID IT with your MOM.❣
I just found your channel when you started the AT. My name is Candace and I live in NC. You, Will and both of your children are awesome! The first thing I do every morning is look for your video 💕 You are one of the strongest people I have ever seen! Very uplifting!!! ❤️ ❤
This looked like such a challenge, especially starting so early. I can just imagine how "big" (and kinda dismal) the day must have felt in those first few hours. Sooooooo mental, I'm sure. When you spoke early on about your plan to slack pack the next day I seriously felt so relieved and happy for you two! Something to look forward to, I'm sure, especially with those technical downhills when you simply cannot afford to take a fall. How nice to have a day without that extra weight! I knew you would get it done, though, which is why I love watching your hike. Your vlogs help me not to quit on my own hard days. There is just something so inspiring about people who refuse to quit moving forward in their lives, even with setbacks, and even when it is on a "hiking trail." It's amazing what just taking one step at a time can accomplish and accumulate over time, with consistency. In life, or on a trail. You two have just come so far! Merry Christmas, by the way. Glad the trail provided you with some excellent scents that brought back some warm and fuzzy memories for you guys. Congratulations on one helluva day!
Did you see a new record set for AT trail :On Sept. 21, 2024, Virginia-based ultrarunner Tara Dower made history by setting a new overall supported Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Appalachian Trail, completing the monumental journey in an astonishing 40 days, 18 hours and five minutes
Hi Sunshine & Captain! I’ve been following you for the last 1,000 miles and slowly going back and watching the early days. I follow one or two vlogs a season and yours is my favorite this year. Before I check for new podcasts I check RUclips to see if Will has posted a new video. I’m invested in your hike and so want to watch you complete one more giant life journey. I completed the 14 State Challenge over five weeks back in 2017. My highlight tour of the AT. I haven’t done any of The Whites which makes me excited, but also anxious for you to hike this section. Knowing you’re already finished makes me want to know now that it all went well! I will be a better commenter! Buen Camino!
I would say the lady with pink hair that kicked ass with the cool son! Have been watching you since your days exploring Europe in Lemonade. So you may have climbed Mt Katahdin already since the vlogs are 3 weeks behind. I’m getting so excited! Your AT adventure has been my favorite! I already followed AT hikers so was ecstatic when I saw you guys hiking the AT!
I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE your vlogs. I look forward to them every day. I find you a fascinating family. The fact that you pour your heart and soul into all the sharing that you do is remarkable! How real everything is kept. I just LOVE it. Thank you with all my heart for all your time and effort that goes into the recordings and Will's dynamite editing, etc. Simply put, it's PHENOMENAL!!!! For real. Thank you again and again. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!❤
Captain and Sunshine, you have travelled so far! Congratulations.I am sure that there are not many Moms and Sons who have achieved this. I am also sure that you will know when you have had enough. Captain will work out a solution if you cannot complete the trail together. He is a very smart young man.
FYI snakes are venomous instead of poisonous. I love watching your videos for the realism of the trail. I’m going to hike someday in my 60s. ❤. Sunshine, you and Captain are killing it. You are winners. You are going to succeed in the biggest way. ❤️❤️❤️
If you weren’t homeschoolers, I probably would not have made the snake remark because I know people can get offended at being schooled. lol. But we are homeschoolers also and we love learning new things. 🥰
Followed an aged early 60’s couple which I had enjoyed so much last year. They got to the last large hostel for an overnight, and the next day she fell going downhill and busted her ankle…..made me sick for them. She was in the better shape of the two so he did not try to go on without her.
What you are doing is incredibly difficult and I’m so inspired by you to get myself back into shape and backing to hiking. (Not the AT haha, strictly day hiker). Love seeing the relationship between you and Captain. Keeping on walking and talking!!! I’ll keep watching.
I have friends whose 19 year old son coined the phrase “the worse, the better”. Thought that might resonate with you right now. Though hopefully you are at a much easier part by now. Xoxo from Paris
Have I told you how tremendous you both are I know sometimes it takes sheer guts and everything you have inside of your soul and heart to get through the day. You guys are effing awesome. Love you sunshine, love you captain, Nan
You ask how we describe you to others. Let me say, i talk about your channel to my husband, who is really not interested but still listens and to clients (i am a dog groomer and some people stay with their dogs) to be honest, when the season started i told my husband that you were probably one of the channels that wasn't going to make it. You were coming off a long boat trip and inwas worried the physical aspect would be too much. Also, I thought being away from Will would be too tough. I thought you would drop off in Hot Springs or Erwin. So how i describe you has changed. At first, you were the crazy pink haired lady who did the chicken dance at road crossings, waxed poetic about the smells in the woods and was going to celebrate toughing it out for 400 miles. Now, i describe you as that pink haired, determined lady who makes her son sing at the state lines and has overcome the challenge of keeping a job, schooling her son and pushing through injury and barring anything catastrophic will definitely finish a thru hike. I have recommended your channel to a client who hikes and two who homescool. I have enjoyed every video you have posted and look forward to seeing you complete this adventure. Also, i have gone back and am enjoying your ocean crossing. Thank you for sharing your journey! Ps: never worry about what other people say. My grandmother always told me that it was none of my business what other people thought of me.
Love the vlogs so much! YAY, I am finally caught up! Sad part is now I have to wait for another one. Yall are killing it! Rest up, get up, and and, let's get it done!!! Hugs to you and Captain!!!
Your presentation today is analogous to a Boston Marathon runner approaching Heartbreak Hill. And similarly, you'll find a second wind once you surmount the obstacle.
This is all around a beautiful thing. You are giving your son a wonderful memory that he will always hold dear and share with his children. Of course, it's a great memory for you as well. Keep at it!
Cause the poison snakes are afraid of : Bullwinkle😅 ! I have total faith in you both ❤. I describe you as the mother-son team hiking trail that are the most loving pair together ❤❤. ( did u ever hear the marriage test ? : try wallpapering together ? We failed that .. another one is canoeing downstream together .. we failed that . Another is hiking the AT together ( at 38 years married not gonna try… it’s possible only one of us would return and I am counting on spending the $ survivor benefits so I already let him walk down the stairs first 😂 lol ) Captain is a terrific guy for you to do this with ! He really is special .

You have reached all your goals for why you made this vlog, as far as I am concerned Keep on keeping on! Truly inspirational and insightful 😊
Great scenery. So glad it was a nice day for hiking. Those rocks get slippery when wet. Sunshine, you are an inspiration.
You are so inspirational! Keep the vlogs and miles coming. They make a difference to more people than you'll ever know!
Wow 😮 so beautiful but so technical! Super hikers!! 😘🥰

The mom with the pink hair and the son… she looks like a rainbow while he’s always in black! 😂

Love your honesty!! 😘
Not sure who told you that NH doesn't have rattlesnakes! We do. Timber rattlesnakes are endangered. The state monitors them by GPS trackers.
Love the vlogs so much! YAY, I am finally caught up! Sad part is now I have to wait for another one. Yall are killing it! Rest up, get up, and and, let's get it done!!! Hugs to you and Captain!!!
I did the Whites last year. They can suck. You can do this. Embrace the suck. If it was easy, everyone would do it. Welcome to the club!!!

Largo’s eye dance was quite impressive!!!( I mean Captain!)

Mt Moosalauke is a favorite to climb and ski in the winter Carage path from summit and summit cone all great times.
No doubt you have this! Look at you go!
Once again welcome to NH
Thank you.

Thank you! Ice cream fund!
Was curious if Will damaged his meniscus when he was hiking with Captain?? Y’all are doing great!
He damaged it in Vietnam at a gym over a year ago
