Great review as usual Harry. 100% of the controls on a touch screen is one of my Bete Noir's too. I drive lots of different cars regularly and once I had a car with the heating controls on the touch screen. It froze overnight to about minus 9 and the touch screen stopped working so I couldn't turn the heater on. After about 30 mins the ambient temp got up a bit and the touch screen started working again. The other, probably bigger, issue is that its inherently dangerous having to concentrate on the touch screen whilst driving.
I don't disagree that the giant all-in-one screens aren't a pain, but many cars have a workaround via voice control. Not something you'd want to learn in an unfamiliar car (especially at -9, either F or C), but it's better than no heat.
It is just amazing how capable performance cars are these days.
No overheating, no lack of comfort, can go 250 kph on the autobahn as well as just drive around doing errants and towing stuff.
It's people who are "amazed" by this sort of ode to excess who make this world a hell for millions of others.
It's amazing how naff it looks and how people spend this kind of money on a ford kuga with leather seats.
@@johnsmith1474Well said.
And yet totally fail as a fun driving machine on the roads like 99.5% of all new cars!
Amazing... will be worth 10% of its original purchase price in 10 years, and probably become a mechanical write-off shortly after that when something too expensive to be worth fixing breaks - then all those plastics etc will sit in landfills for the next fifty thousand years... amazing.
When it gets the refreshed cabin it'll go to the top of my wish list.
I’m hoping there’s a GMA T.50 roadtrip video on the horizon
We need this...as soon as possible, waiting for that almost 5years 🤪
I’m waiting to see Harry take it around the farm 😅
A hugely enjoyable review as always. I've seen it all now; a DBX towing a horse box around Harry's farm. Very gratifying that it's so 'real world' useable too.
Of course SAAB introduced that wraparound lower door-edge design in the 70’s, and I’ve never understood why it was not immediately universally adopted. Brilliant!
Good point. In fairness, my 900i erased the lower door wrap around all by itself!
Love it. My brother and I were glued to this video, and only just finished talking about it. I think we're going to have a race to see who can buy a DBX first. Best, Nick
lol
Why would you buy this instead of a luxury coupe Aston Martin?
@@UzurpatorBulbulatorYou want to tell someone how to spend their own money?
Great video, as always Mr. Metcalfe.
Here's hoping this depreciates enough within the next 10 years that one can purchase and run it without having to sell one's offspring. 😅
You might not need to sell him to buy it but to keep it running for another 2-3 years how knows. maybe it's maybelline ;)
I’m in the market for an off side spring for a Defender, what you got ?
Of all the Super suv's , this is the one ! The looks , chassis & handling , straight line performance ( 0-100 ~ 7 sec ) in a 2.3t car !! When the interior gets the DB12 interface update , its all over !.......9/10
For me it's the porusangue, v12 in a practical suv. It would be I teresting which one is faster around a tracker or the quatermile.
The looks eh?
Now this, to me, is one of the more tasteful looking high end SUVs from a traditional sports car manufacturer, and it's impressive to see that it can hold its own off road as well.
Yes as long as the off road is as flat as a golf course. LOL A great interior.
Great car. The only SUV that would tempt me out of a Range Rover and no hybrid nonsense! Well done Aston
Perfect for the wilds of Kensington and Chelsea.
My first car, a Saab 99 had that door design covering the sills....such a good design feature
What a fantastic first car.
Such a same about the interior and tech internally, as the exterior is bang on.
7:06 Panerai Luminor alert. Harry not only has great taste in cars, but also watches. Bravo!
A Harry and Nico Leonard collab would be cool
That spec looks amazing. The rear shot while driving was beautiful.
I've seen a few of these. Two stand out: one had a wardrobe hanging out the back and another was towing a shabby looking trailer with logs.
I'm enjoying the use of 'real world' to describe towing horses with an Aston Martin 😂 Great video as ever though!
Harry is great but just a little out of touch.
It is real world for the kind of person that buys a £200,000 SUV.....probably.
@@horatiotimewaster5755 I mean "real world" in this context means - "what the average owner of this car might do" - and I think that's absolutely spot on, at least in the UK a lot of rich people have horses and they do tow them around, so "horse towing" is very high on the list of priorities when buying a car. I wouldn't call that as out of touch - just aimed at the target market of this car. It would be out of touch if Harry was saying how this car is great for going to asda to buy your weekly groceries.
It is the real world drive in the motorway during school breaks and you will see a lot of high end SUVs being used for towing. People in the country side actually are some biggest buyers of these fancy cars. Not just soccer moms and footballers.
Purosangue you can’t buy unless invited by Ferrari. Lot of competition now - Cayenne, Urus, Bentayga, Range Rover, Cullinan, Maserati, V8 Defender, G-Wagon. Matt Farah got one of these to 173mph on the Vegas strip.
Harry seems impressed and so am. As usual a very good review of what seems like the best SUV out there. Better than the Germans (Bentayga included), some proper driving feel in the steering, and more practical than the Purosangue.
Pity about the laggy engine but you just can't have everything.
I reckon they should do a DBXF 707. A farm edition. Matt paint work, lifted suspension no rear seats, roof rack, light guards, snorkel, spotlights, rally style mud flaps, then rag it around the farm. 👍👍
I’m in the middle of a small European road trip, brand new one of these parked next to me outside our hotel in Reims, attracting quite the crowd, car spotters taking pics etc. when the owner went to start it the battery was totally dead, breakdown guy jump started it but it ended up being towed. Ironically I’m in a defender which I’ve never had any I issues with in 3 years of hard everyday use.
Odd, considering it probably also did many miles before Reims.
@@Spenny909 yeah, exactly what I thought (it was on uk plates) unless they left something on in it?
I would love that Aston listen to Mr Harry's comments, so often no coment
If I were in the market - then I think it would be my choice. I think they're quite colour sensitive you need to choose wisely.
I was in the market but went with a 2010 polo instead.
Thanks Harry!! Appreciate all that you do for us, love the DBX and of course horsefloat!! A great accompliment.
Sound Quality Harry. Biue Tooth has limited band width compared to a copper cable. (si from Bath)
Excellent video, it is the first one I have seen on your channel and I have already subscribed, I have a DBX 707 and for me it is the best of the exotic SUVs, greetings from La Jolla California.
My first thoughts before watching was how much of Harry's life is 'Real world'?!
I don't imagine many potential owners would take it off road or tow anything with it either
I drive my 707 off road. Hell I drove it to Ukraine from the UK.
I bought it because its a practical supercar
@@louKushh insurane is a thing bro, that's why gap insurance exist as well
We have sold one to a client who runs a horse stables and tows with it!
I’m happy that Harry did take it off-road though!
@@mental720s, yes of course you did.
What a massively fun utility vehicle. Love it! Good fair review Harry & Charlie
If you need an SUV with trainers on this is a good one after all. Thanks Harry, Great video. Best Factual , RUclips Automotive Awards 💙
Great review Harry. It's surprising isn't it that more manufacturers don't do the
"gaiters" over the lower part of the door to stop your legs getting muddy.... oh yes Land Rover do even on my MY2013 Freelander 2 ! Also Apple Play works via Bluetooth as well !
Totally agreed, I rather have a few more buttons then a touch screen, btw, great review👍🏼
Great opening shot! Usually these are filmed going sideways with smoking tires...
Another Harry great review
Now is the time to buy - some fantastic pre-owned examples out their !
That opening shot is why I love this channel
Who else is towing with the DBX on a farm😂
Nice to see a car you really appreciate
I’ve been in this actual car at Gaydon. I didn’t realise how expensive they were until I checked on Autotrader almost cost as much as my house! Beautiful looking SUV though would definitely be on my list if I had the cash.
nice to see a fellow Romanian on the engine plaque
All the dashboard tech will look very old school in 10 years - great video Harry
In two years
Same question as the one you asked about the F-Type being half the price of the Vantage. The 707 isn’t much better than an F-Pace SVR yet it’s twice the price. Having said that the Aston’s desirable whereas the Jaguar isn’t. The 707 also looks great value in comparison with a Pursangue.
If I owned a car like that I would immediately get a clear wrap to protect the paint. beautiful work of rolling art.
It would be nice if they did a 707 "PoW" style, i.e. with the looks of the regular car and without the tacky bits...
Ford has the Dearborn track, Chrysler the Wixom proving grounds, the (Formerly) British car industry has Harry's Farm.
Hahahaha great comment
I like the Fezzsr more Harry 🚗……… great stuff 😊
Fresh ideas for videography. Thanks for the report.
interesting way to use such a car!!!! Greetings from Lviv
FYI Harry, carbon ceramics aren’t an option for the regular DBX, just the steels. Keep up the good work
So glad you captioned it, or I'd have guessed it was a Ford Kuga 🤣
Another great video😀
Cheers Harry
An Aston Martin behind in technology? Say it isn't so! DB12 was a nice surprise to find they finally had contemporary interior electronics, so this is like a step back to what we normally expect from Aston Martin. Only when Mr. Bond drives an AM do we expect futuristic gadgets.
Well that does it. The 1971 International Scout that has served us well on the old dairy farm is getting traded in. In my dreams...
I think the PRND button placement is classic Aston Martin. It's almost their signature at this point. I hope they remain there, personally.
People confuse turbo lag with turbo boost threshold very often. Accelerating from 1500rpm and waiting for the turbos to spool doesn't mean the car is suffering from turbo lag. The turbos are just bigger and build boost later in the rev range. Different size turbos spool at different rpms and offer different power band, the moment the turbo starts to build boost is what is called threshold. Being in the boost threshold and then having delay in the performance is actual turbo lag. I didn't expect it from Harry who is a car guy not making a difference between the two.
This channel will reach 5 million subscribers
If I was a multimillionaire who owns a farm, I would use my +£200,000 luxury SUV to tow trailers and horseboxes around the farm too. Look, I know it's a loaner vehicle that Harry will return to the dealer. But in the meantime that he has the car around, Harry is a true baller 💪
Looks Good , What's it's 0-20mph ?
I really really want Aston Martin to do well and this is clearly a very good car. I love that there are some extremely well thought out details and it certainly sounds like it is the best SUV on the market dynamically, but….with that outdated interior, I cannot conceive buying one of these over a Bentayga or top of the line Range Rover. The DB12 looks to be a big improvement on that front so hopefully those updates come to DBX soon.
12:14 does anybody know why the rear lights are flashing? Is that Harry tapping on the breaks or does the car just flash all the time?
They've kept the Ford Mondeo grill?
I like the front end and the name, 707. Please do the Lotus Eletre for comparison.
Brilliant dynamic V8 SUV
I love it 🙂
I love the MB derived engine, the dirty snarl from that V8 and the quality finish - but at the price, I would hope so !
However, my big issue is, to my mind, it’s not an Aston…….. any more than the Lambo Uranus is a Lamborghini……. or for that matter the Ferrari Perineum.
The Bentayga is a Bentley, the Cullinan is a Rolls Royce - both marques conquered the far reaches of empire with rough tough durable monsters for the well healed.
Aston, Ferrari and Lamborghini make GT’s, sports cars and supercars…….
The Rapide was almost too far, the FF and GTC4 were nearing sensibility……. but these SUV’s are all wrong. You could say the same about the SVR Range Rovers……. making a bungalow accelerate like a stabbed rat or stick to corners like chewing gum to a wig…… 🤔
I realise it is purely a marketing ploy to capture and keep your buyers……. Owning a DB11 and needing a family car for the school run and gymkhana ? - another Aston 🥳
Owning a classic Diablo - buy a nice practical Urus 😳
I suppose Porsche are the worst culprit with the Panamera, Macan, Cayenne etc……. but for some reason, they align more with Mercedes, who make one for everyone. Porsche, to my mind have done it successfully, who knows how or why, but they still make GT3RS without any parallel to their diesel Cayenne. Clever 🙂🇬🇧
Harry can you do a video on the BMW X5M I drove one and was amazed on the power for value for money compaired to other fast suv's would be interesting cheers Marco
Get a Purosangue in Harry, along with a Urus, Levante, Bentayga, Cullinan and this DBX. Then race them across one of your fields towing a plough.
I’d love one of these one of the only modern cars i actually like
People like you should be speaking out
I’ve been hooked on the Bentayga since day one. Cayenne GT is also very cool. This has trounced them both in my book. The online configurator is top notch and really shows how far you can go to make this thing into whatever your heart desires. I’d have the hardest time not choosing the DBX. Thanks for another awesome video. Super cool vehicle. Love the usability!!
Sounds great, goes well. But that back end is ugly. I don’t have £200k for a car. But my £50k SQ7 Vorsprung (500 BHP 1000Nm) v8 is close enough. Harry’s comments echoed mine when l first drove the Audi. But at 37mpg average and a slow run 50mpg, it makes for low cost ownership. The Aston is lovely, but l wouldn’t trade it. Nice review Harry.
Interesting it does well offroad with low profile road tyres
Imagine that with a big V8 diesel 😍 Would prefer to have same size wheels all-round on a 4x4 so swapping to even up wear possible. Cant think when I spotted one on the road, are they selling?
Now that would be quite something. DBX 707 has 2700kg tow capacity, which isn't too shabby but I suspect mpg might be horrific when towing..
@@harrysgarage Cayenne v8 diesel, 1100 mile trip around France 3 up inc crossing Paris 30mpg
Very interesting review Harry, one has to wonder does a car with this amount of power and torque really need nine gears? Does it have "Horse box mode" lol ?
The massive number of gears are mostly an attempt to reduce fuel consumption and therefore emissions - this is pretty much why we've seen automatics go from 4 to 6,7,8,9 and even 10 gears in the last 20 years.
@@Beer_Dad1975 Cheers! Yeah I get that but it must be negated slightly by such a massively powerful car! Top speed achievable in was it the highest three gears, bizarre.
@@antonoat Yup only so much efficiency to be gained with a guzzler for sure, but they have to try everything due to various penalty laws they face for not hitting targets. Often the case the top few gears are "overdrive" gears instead of in the old days where it was usually just the top gear (meaning the output RPM to the wheels exceeds the input speed from the engine) - my Lexus has an 8 speed box and I believe both 7 & 8 are overdrive.
I don't know why they don't supercharge these cars anymore. Would help alleviate the turbo lag a lot. I think it would help to differentiate these cars from one another as well because they are all pretty much the same these days. Peak power might come down but that isn't always the case and fuel economy might come down but that also isn't always the case with a clutched supercharger or something.
What Harry showed in the conclusion wasn’t lag, he just didn’t have enough revs. If in manual, pick the right gear!
@@cuthberter
Not only that. It has ZERO to do with turbo lag. What he is showing is called threshold lag. Turbo lag is the lag experienced while on boost.
That said, these engines are laggy. I’ve had it in the G63 and wifey has it in her AMG GTR. Even on boost, throttle response leaves some to be desired.
I thought it was a Ford puma 😮 😂😂
It’s no looker is it
Yup. I’ve always thought the Puma was prettier. Same same just smaller. After the OTT Urus why have Aston gone so lame styling no idea. The Puma is good looking. The DBX looks very generic SUV styling and about 60k car. Oh no it’s prob best part 200k. Leave them with the footy players around Cheshire. Zero horn here.
So did I 😂….imagine my surprise!
@@madeofoak hence the chrome grill on Vinalle models. Yup.
@@madeofoakyes from some angles my modest little Focus looks like an Aston.
I guess the horse is still suffering from a little dizziness after the ride in the field😂😂
Made me laugh !!!!!
Neigh...
Yes a Cayenne would also tow and offroad but this one is much more pretty and unique :) Getting tech from Mercedes was the right decision for Aston.
Yeah - pass me down infotainment tech.
But, yes, a big improvement over the previous Jaguar and Volvo concoction.
It will be interesting to see the Ferrari SUV on the show… ❤ I would still have an RS6 over any of these vehicle types, value, performance, and practicality..
Not a fan of SUV’s , but I actually like this one, I saw one ☝️ n Whitestone and it was quite good looking
Harry, I'd like to see the state of the horse once you've finished towing it.
Harry is a legend in the way he approaches reviews 👌
Those 13" rear tires look cool from behind.
Harry's horses, still recovering from motion sickness...
Don’t really get it, but it wouldn’t be Sunday without Harry.
Hahaha, we might have a very bad rep over there, due to some scumbags which have nothing to do with our nation, but i can't help feeling proud that a conational has signed off that engine ! Congrats Vatafu Ion Catalin ! Hopefully you'll sign off my DB12 in a few years while when i shall be able to buy a Db12 or a 707.
Is that the same Vatafu Ion Catalin I went to primary school with in Hackney, East London. You done well mate.
Why not! Let's go!
I want this in an estate body style and with a bit less tacked-on carbon
Curious about something. We all know that the petrol engine in the GT63s had more than the supposed 640hp that was stated. According to dynos, that car had at least 700hp. It wouldn't be too far from a possibility that Aston just ordered that engine, and said the true hp was 707hp, implying that they made the engine more powerful... even if they didn't.
0:13 Claaaaaaaaarkssoooon!!!!
Harry, Beautiful SUV. Have you driven the Dodge Durango Hellcat?
How was the horse?
When are you getting the Lotus Eletre to test
Very nice Aston, but is that a Lange's on Harry's wrist!?
RIP Harry's horse 🐴
Save this for April 1st, Harry.
I had to rewatch three times to get to the Ferrari comparison, cos harry actually drove it and ive been wanting to hear where the Ferrari ranks up in this "luxurysuv" class of cars
Does the big plastic " box" behind the rear view mirror get in the way Harry?
It must have a lot of sensors and cameras inside it.
Also it must be in a handful of cars were the backseats patten and design is not a copy of the fronts.
Came here to find the answer. Looks horrendous doesn’t it?
That's going to be one car sick horse.
Weird question but what clothing brand is Harry wearing? That overshirt is beautiful
