Tank driving only acts to multiply the benefits of your drive train upgrades...its a good skill to max as you get more out of the tank with max skill but if you dont have the upgrades, you wont notice it much. Range finding is only useful if you cannot judge it by eyeball. Range Finder or Laser Range finder is automatic when you have that upgrade...you can safely skip and work on just judging by your shell speed velocity on the firing range. Also, the guy is wrong about autoloaders. If you have shells in your ready rack you will have a pretty low reload already and the skill wont have a ton of impact there( maybe .2 or .3 seconds say with at Delat Torn), BUT when you enter a long reload....THEN you get lots of use out of Reload speed.
In air RB I spot with my own eyes and I am able to identify a plane just by looking at small dot from 15km away now these are real crew skills of playing since 2013
Yeah sure... you can identify a plane from 15km away. The game doesn’t even render planes at 10.0km as a silhouette. It will render them as a small black dot. Look at the visibility mechanics on the Wiki.
I disagree with the your recommendations at the end. Put everything into gunner and driver vitality - you can't earn crew XP if you're dead. If you're sick of having your gunner knocked out all the time, a few bars into vitality will make a life or death difference. It's more critical than armor! A few bars into Tank Driving, Targetting and Reloading is also worth it. Everything else makes little to no difference in practice and just wastes valuable XP.
Incorrect. I also speeds up repairs on the airfield, that is true, but it also affects how fast your vehicle repairs by itself in the hangar when you don't set things to autorepair after each battle.
How has no-one commented on "Targeting Quality" error? While it may slightly increase accuracy especially during micro aim adjustments, the information was off. The higher the Targeting Quality the better your gunner is at turning the turret AND raising or lowering the gun at the same time. At 0% your gunner will ONLY turn the turret until he get's it inline with your reticle, then he will raise or lower the gun on target. At 100% he will turn the turret and raise/lower the gun both at full speed, very essential for rushing play-styles, SPAA, or non-stabilized on-the-move fire.
I should know this earlier LOL, I learned some things from it, bit was things I already know, I did think the artillery strike time was the time between a artillery and another, but in fact is how fast if falls, cool stuff to use while the enemy is capping the point
Very helpfull Video, you can be sure that I'll share it with my WT buddies. Altough i am wondering why you ranked targeting so low since it can cost you a lot of time whilst aiming if you don't skill it at all
Understanding how crew skills work is one thing. Organizing crew skills between air, ground, and naval setups is an entirely different issue. Oh well. Much like playing multiple nations, just means more grinding. Honestly, though, I feel like the order varies wildly from tank type to tank type. I'd put weapon reloading and targetting as top no matter what. Artillery strike really depends. If it is a heavy tank, you can't call artillery strikes at all anyway, so it gets lowest priority. But for SPAA I find it useful if you need to focus on air. Just hide behind a rock and arty if your team is having aircraft problems. I'd rank it fairly high on SPAA. Then as mentioned there's the AB vs RB situation, where certain skills are nearly useless in RB. Rangefinding I just don't see as useful long term.
Keen vision actually applies in RB too, its the render distance for enemies. Targeting quality affects moving the gun in both axes at the same time, IE, you want to shoot at an aircraft, he is flying low so you have to traverse the turret a lot. He flies above you so you would need to elevate the gun as well, with 0% targeting quality, the gunner first traverses the turret then elevates it. With 100% quality, he does both at the same time. In between, he elevates the gun slower or takes 'steps'. Targeting speed is the turret slew, and the vertical speed is the elevation speed. (duh)
Fun face: Last time I checked, you can make a custom lang file that shows the name of the tank at any distance, as each tank shows its own individual sets of "names" in the file.
I feel like there should be a second range finding stat in crew skills that increase the time the gunner takes to gauge the range of a target. Accuracy ain't worth anything if I'm dead before I can do anything with that information!
Probably depends on play style but Tank Driving is further down for me. Starting new players/nation: Tank Grab Qualifications [Basic/Expert] as soon as you can! [Logistcal Services are pretty useless, do them last] Targeting-Reloading primary (can't think of that many low level auto loaders...) Max out asap but get to 2.5 before starting secondaries [diminishing returns, the points give better gain elsewhere for now] Bring everything else up to 1.0/1.5, then focus Driving-Leader-Rep-Range-Arty Call [secondaries] get to 2.5 then grind out your primaries to 4.0 or finish. From here on you just bring everything up evenly, though because Leadership affects multiple areas it's handy to invest more into. I've found RNJesus works nice on Arty, so do Call more and spam in game... but both are cheap anyways. Planes: Again, Qualifications as soon as you can! Fighter; ignore Defensive Armament/Repair Rank Bomber; Pilot Skills/Repair Rank Both; Vitality isn't THAT important, use it for quick exp lvls Both; Weapon Maintenance is primary so max out ASAP! But initially get to 2.5, then... Get to 2.5/3.0 soonest] F; G's-Stamina B; Exp Gunners [+ Acc-Prec if not doing the shootings yourself] Bring the rest up to 1.0/1.5, finish Primaries, then step things up evenly.
@skDoger yea you missed something i recommend doing for field repair and agility first on your radio guy believe it or not but late-game you dont have a radio man and thus you wont be able to lose field repair time after some / all of your crew got damaged so you will have always the radioman hes buff with or without him in the tank
I spent 1000 gold on each crew when i started the French tree. Those bastards are so slow and can't kill almost anything in 1 shot in lower tiers. I maxed reloading, leadership and repairs, targeting, and the rest goes wherever I wanted.
Yea but if you play german, the hill is as hard to climb as you want to knock out someone else with french tank😑 I started out german and now pz f2 but the hill still kills me...
I will say this: If you're free to play (or only intermittently premium like me) the mechanic becomes a lot more important. A lot of tanks from 6-8 br have repair costs that'll drain your SL fast.
I've gotten to the point in tank rb where I dont even have the rangefinder bound anymore, because I can pretty reliably eyeball the range up to about the same distance the rangefinder's good at
It's a little outdated, as in realistic you can see the tank type and get markers over vehicles. But everything else is great! I'm not the best at War Thunder, so guides really help me. Thanks!
there is no render distance in RB and SB, you can spot anyone across the map provided you have a keen eye. You can prove that by going into a top tier match on maps like Fulda and use thermal imaging, people are seen across spawns like normal.
My proof involves an outside factor because simply saying "use your eyes and you'll see them" is too vague of an argument to be used, even though you can actually see them with your very eyes perfectly provided the screen and resolution are big enough to notice the difference in pixel colours and the shape of a tank (Napalmratte has demonstrated and mentioned just that in the past). You need to back up your claims buddy.
u missed 1 thing about range finding skill. it does affect the tanks which have rangefinders (NOT the laser ones). it increases the range that rangefinder can range find. for example Panther 2 with expert crew can RF up to 2000 m or higher while on stock crew its lower.
I don't know about you, but I always max out the artillery stuff first. 1. cause its cheap. 2. it can be good for scouting an area where you think someone might be. 3. it can be pretty effective when you drop it on chokepoints where enemies are coming from spawn.
Yeah but you could also invest those points to drop your reload rate from 10sec to 6sec... Think about all those times someone shot you right before you could return fire
Repair speed is useful, if you want to play more than one nation. Set up your line ups and check which vehicle has the longest repair time. Upgrade repair speed of this vehicle either fully, or until it equals another. In latter case, upgrade both vehicles. If you always use the vehicle with the longest repair time, you only need to bother with this repair speed. Obviously you need to skill repair rank appropiatly. Do this for all nations. Disable auto repair. After a battle, switch to your next nation and let your vehicles repair. Even if you go through all nations and not all vehicles are repaired, it will be cheaper to repair them. Also don't bother repairing the vehicles after your last match of the day. Important: repair speed is only increased on vehicles that are in a crew slot. If a vehicle is not in a crew slot repairing the vehicle can take several days.
It doesn't speed up the range acquiring and it also doesn't provide a more accurate value since the rangefinder itself does it for you. It is absolutelly useless if you don't play tanks without the high tier rangefinding module in that crew slot. Where'd you get that idea from?
without any point into rangefinding on my leclerc I can get it to around 4000 meters (3600 on the AMX40) give or take before it puts the > symbol indicating it can't accuratelly distance things beyond that. Realistically you won't be shooting anything at those ranges unless it's a perfectly still chopper and by then you correct shots based on your last. All in all, still a waste of points if all you play are tanks with those modules.
Good video. Thank you. Let's assume you play ground forces. Your loader dies and you can't replace him. How does this affect shared and unique crew skills? The game certainly handles this event by making reloading considerably slower. By how much? how is it calculated?
I'm pretty sure the reload time gets doubled if you have no loader. Since the gunner isn't trained as a loader (in most tanks) he isn't as experienced and thus in-game the time is multiplied by 2.
What is that background music? A RUclipsr I used to watch had that as their intro music before getting false copystriked into oblivion. Occasionally I see a video with it but rarely I see a large RUclipsr with it and I want to know what it is
Targeting Quality doesnt really improve accuracy, it determines if the Gunner can rotate the turret both horizontally and vertically at the same time. The only way to improve accuracy are the two modifications for each vehicle :/
I just watched this for fun but targeting quality is actually not about accuracy it's about how you're gunner aims the gun from both angles so the gunner with 0% quality will aim horizontally then vertically but if your quality is 25% then he will be able to elevate the gun at 25% of your vertical targeting speed while turning the gun and once the gun is on target horizontally the vertical speed will be at 100% percent, if you have a 100% quality the vertical targeting and horizontal targeting will be at their max speeds and it doesn't matter if the gun is turning the gun will elevate at it's full speed.
This is interesting. As a new player who after 4 battles got 6 crew skill tokens, how many thousands of battles would I need before I get the skill of my first tank upgraded to some decent level, whatever that is generally considered to be?
Well, that depends on the amount of players you kill and how experienced you want your crew to be. I would say you would need to play about 300 battles with around 2 kills each game to get your crew to be "decent".
Thanks for doing this. This has been very helpful. It would be nice if you slow down a little and pronounce your words more carefully. Still even without that you're providing good value for my time. Thanks a lot.
if a tank, lets say the m11/39 which dosent have a loader, would the weapon reloading skill still work, and does this also help with reloading the machine gun? and with the auto loader 120mm swedish tank that i forgot the name for, wouldnt weapon reloading help reloading the magazine?
Yes, even if your tank doesn't have a loader it gives you boosts with reloading. It also helps with the clips. I'm not sure about the machine guns though.
Yes and no. Some autoloaders will be affected and others not. Half assisted autoloaders like on the chi ri or delat torn will have their reload affected by crew skills. Tanks like french autoloaders(true autoloaders) have fixed reload times and thus will not be affected by crew reload skills
Dont understimate the Artillery Strike Accuracy, once i was facing a tank at the street corner, i called an artillery strike right in his position, after 15 seconds i was chosing another tank, cause when your gunner is on his way to heaven, and engine screams being on fire, you cant properly kill your enemies, and it all was that artillery strike.
I have 2 questions : If Agility help crewmember to travel faster to the place of your dead crewmember, Agility is useless on Driver and Gunner no ? They never leave there place for other right ? And the second question : In AB, targeting become useless or is it affect the little color cross ? Thanks to the one will help me 👌
1) Agility uses the average of all your crew. This means that if your tank has 3 crew members with 3 levels of agility, your tank's agility skill will be 3. So it does actually affect other crew members' agility as well if you upgrade the gunner and driver. 2) Targeting makes your shots more accurate, and it's more likely that your shells will actually hit where you aimed. It also affects your turret movement speed, if it's upgraded enough you can turn your turret both vertically and horizontally at the same time.

Glad I could help!
Almost wasted all my xp in Repair Speed xD Thank you so much, I'll rush Tank Driving for my *Italian tanks*
You got a new subscriber:) thank you so much for these videos!! They are very useful I can't wait for your next videos
U are a legend for putting Stamps. Subbed!
Everything else makes little to no difference in practice and just wastes valuable XP.
im maxing vitality for entire crew first ...
@@Myndfuxx Max the gunner and driver first, then put points in driving, targetting and reloading. Everything else can wait.
great video friend, it clarifies many things for me
Glad I could help!
Thank god I found this video, if not I would've kept putting points into repair speed not knowing it's not for in battle
Keen vision actually does have an effect on RB and SB. It determines how far away a tank will render for you which is total BS for those modes.
Repair speed is only useful in Air RB where it affects the repair speed after landing.
Incorrect. I also speeds up repairs on the airfield, that is true, but it also affects how fast your vehicle repairs by itself in the hangar when you don't set things to autorepair after each battle.
Who doesn't use autorepair? Unless you play like 1 match a week i guess
people that play a lineup of each nation per each 3 modes (air, ground, naval) before logging off. They'll get great value out of that mechanic
Your channel has such useful guides! Thanks a lot. :^)
Glad you enjoy them!
Useless skills can be make useful, example any keen vision points for any battlemode will increase enemy detection possibility in warmap, I think.
I should know this earlier LOL, I learned some things from it, bit was things I already know, I did think the artillery strike time was the time between a artillery and another, but in fact is how fast if falls, cool stuff to use while the enemy is capping the point
Positive identification is important, because there is a big difference between shooting the front of a Sherman and the front of a Sherman jumbo.
(duh)
keen vision in ground rb actually helps??? i left it at 0 xD
@@rezarachmandito7811 minimally, and only at range, but yea
Fun face: Last time I checked, you can make a custom lang file that shows the name of the tank at any distance, as each tank shows its own individual sets of "names" in the file.
Wow u put in a lot of work into ur vid thanks for time stamps and detailed explanation of the crews. Subscribe!
I feel like there should be a second range finding stat in crew skills that increase the time the gunner takes to gauge the range of a target. Accuracy ain't worth anything if I'm dead before I can do anything with that information!
Probably depends on play style but Tank Driving is further down for me.
Starting new players/nation: Tank
Grab Qualifications [Basic/Expert] as soon as you can! [Logistcal Services are pretty useless, do them last]
Targeting-Reloading primary (can't think of that many low level auto loaders...) Max out asap but get to 2.5 before starting secondaries [diminishing returns, the points give better gain elsewhere for now]
Bring everything else up to 1.0/1.5, then focus Driving-Leader-Rep-Range-Arty Call [secondaries] get to 2.5 then grind out your primaries to 4.0 or finish. From here on you just bring everything up evenly, though because Leadership affects multiple areas it's handy to invest more into.
I've found RNJesus works nice on Arty, so do Call more and spam in game... but both are cheap anyways.
Planes:
Again, Qualifications as soon as you can!
Fighter; ignore Defensive Armament/Repair Rank Bomber; Pilot Skills/Repair Rank Both; Vitality isn't THAT important, use it for quick exp lvls
Both; Weapon Maintenance is primary so max out ASAP! But initially get to 2.5, then...
Get to 2.5/3.0 soonest] F; G's-Stamina B; Exp Gunners [+ Acc-Prec if not doing the shootings yourself]
Bring the rest up to 1.0/1.5, finish Primaries, then step things up evenly.
Nice video!
Please do the same video for air and surface vehicles too
I've already made an air version! You can find it on my uploads.
Got it. Thanks.
@skDoger yea you missed something i recommend doing for field repair and agility first on your radio guy believe it or not but late-game you dont have a radio man and thus you wont be able to lose field repair time after some / all of your crew got damaged so you will have always the radioman hes buff with or without him in the tank
Good call! That is quite useful in higher tiers.
Thanks for making this man

I spent 1000 gold on each crew when i started the French tree. Those bastards are so slow and can't kill almost anything in 1 shot in lower tiers. I maxed reloading, leadership and repairs, targeting, and the rest goes wherever I wanted.
I agree. French Tier 1 Tanks are such a pain to play.
@@Germanempireaboolilel Yup. The only way to come out on top in most situations is to get the first and second shot before getting shot at yourself.

Awesome thanks!
u A REAL ONE :)
I will say this: If you're free to play (or only intermittently premium like me) the mechanic becomes a lot more important. A lot of tanks from 6-8 br have repair costs that'll drain your SL fast.
I've gotten to the point in tank rb where I dont even have the rangefinder bound anymore, because I can pretty reliably eyeball the range up to about the same distance the rangefinder's good at
Had to turn on captioning fot this one.
It's a little outdated, as in realistic you can see the tank type and get markers over vehicles. But everything else is great! I'm not the best at War Thunder, so guides really help me. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
Keen vision DOES affect rendering distance in RB and SB. Not by much, but if you ever max it out, you will start to notice the small difference.
there is no render distance in RB and SB, you can spot anyone across the map provided you have a keen eye. You can prove that by going into a top tier match on maps like Fulda and use thermal imaging, people are seen across spawns like normal.
@@krixtorei no there is a render cut off, your "proof" involves an outside factor; thermal imaging.
Best tutorial
Actually rangefinding for the gunner is useful even if ur tank has a rangefinder device
It doesn't speed up the range acquiring and it also doesn't provide a more accurate value since the rangefinder itself does it for you. It is absolutelly useless if you don't play tanks without the high tier rangefinding module in that crew slot. Where'd you get that idea from?
@@krixtorei more range, it will give you more range beyond the ranging device actuall range.
It is minor but noticeable.
without any point into rangefinding on my leclerc I can get it to around 4000 meters (3600 on the AMX40) give or take before it puts the > symbol indicating it can't accuratelly distance things beyond that. Realistically you won't be shooting anything at those ranges unless it's a perfectly still chopper and by then you correct shots based on your last. All in all, still a waste of points if all you play are tanks with those modules.
I should mention also that Radio communication skill is useful in RB matches
And Premium vehicles gives you more crew experience point
Good video.
How does this work on vehicles with two loaders? (KV-2 for example)
Great video. Being a noob, I didnt know this. Is there a way to reset your crew points to reallocate them?
Sadly you can't reset or change points you've already spent. Glad I could help though!
Appreciate the info. 👍
I realized that you have to level up all of your crew separately way too late, so now I have a maxed driver, but bad at everything else
What is that background music? A RUclipsr I used to watch had that as their intro music before getting false copystriked into oblivion. Occasionally I see a video with it but rarely I see a large RUclipsr with it and I want to know what it is
How are you recording your audio? You might want to use your phone or something to record audio then sync the files in your editing sotware.
And keen vision is useful in RB battles because tanks fade in long distance and u must spot them with binocular
for real???
@@rezarachmandito7811 yes sometimes dont show tanks and when u use binocular u can see them
Targeting Quality doesnt really improve accuracy, it determines if the Gunner can rotate the turret both horizontally and vertically at the same time. The only way to improve accuracy are the two modifications for each vehicle :/
What is it? Can u tell me bro?
@@sicario8989 Adjustment of Fire improves accuracy both vertically and horizontally, Elevation Mechanism further improves vertical accuracy

I play tanks and planes and have for over 5 years and not one of my crews are fully upgraded. 1 crew in planes is on 44 though
im not forgetting them, im saving them

Thanks, very usefull video.
if a tank, lets say the m11/39 which dosent have a loader, would the weapon reloading skill still work, and does this also help with reloading the machine gun? and with the auto loader 120mm swedish tank that i forgot the name for, wouldnt weapon reloading help reloading the magazine?
Yes, even if your tank doesn't have a loader it gives you boosts with reloading. It also helps with the clips. I'm not sure about the machine guns though.
@@skDoger ok, Thank you for answering and making such good informational videos
Yes and no. Some autoloaders will be affected and others not. Half assisted autoloaders like on the chi ri or delat torn will have their reload affected by crew skills. Tanks like french autoloaders(true autoloaders) have fixed reload times and thus will not be affected by crew reload skills
For me :-
Leadership
Rangefinder
Targeting
Few points on tank driving
Thanks
Dont understimate the Artillery Strike Accuracy, once i was facing a tank at the street corner, i called an artillery strike right in his position, after 15 seconds i was chosing another tank, cause when your gunner is on his way to heaven, and engine screams being on fire, you cant properly kill your enemies, and it all was that artillery strike.
I have 2 questions :
If Agility help crewmember to travel faster to the place of your dead crewmember, Agility is useless on Driver and Gunner no ? They never leave there place for other right ?
And the second question :
In AB, targeting become useless or is it affect the little color cross ?
Thanks to the one will help me 👌
1) Agility uses the average of all your crew. This means that if your tank has 3 crew members with 3 levels of agility, your tank's agility skill will be 3. So it does actually affect other crew members' agility as well if you upgrade the gunner and driver.
2) Targeting makes your shots more accurate, and it's more likely that your shells will actually hit where you aimed. It also affects your turret movement speed, if it's upgraded enough you can turn your turret both vertically and horizontally at the same time.
Good video
However had to rely on visuals and captions to understand most of the narration.
You say keep vision is for arcade only, but at the bottom it says "information is relevant to: realistic battles"

That's what they're called in-game. Instead of "experience points", the XP stands for just "experience".
