In Helsinki there is pub tram that moves about within regular traffic, that's also pretty cool experience :D
Friend of mine had this same idea already decades ago for Prague, but it never came to it...
Prague has one too, but you have to hire the whole tram for €320 60-minute sight-seeing tour.
That's cool, I might try to visit next time I'm in Helsinki :)
There is also one in Brno, sadly they don't carry beer, only Starobrno. :(
@@a10. I had no idea and I lived in Brno for 3 years.
Great to see a pub review again! Would like to see more of these :). Also old and cozy pubs in the city center would be cool. Keep up the good work guys!
When I saw the place, I immediately recognized it! We went there on our visit in Prague 2 years ago to take the historic line 42 tram from it's start. Such a cool experience, and really friendly and welcoming staff on board the tram. Can't wait to visit Prague again in the future, it's my favorite town in Europe!
Prague is my favorite town in Europe, too!
Try to visit technical museum - czechoslovakia used to be one of top10 most developed countries, so there is plenty unique cars, bikes, motorbikes, airplanes and trains to see there.
If you ever played original Mafia I, you may see some of the cars in real life.
A spot to visit next year when I return to Prague
Mě too
This will definitely be on my list for next year's IIHF world championship
0:17 Bonus Czech words: Točna Dlabačov literally means "Dlabač's turntable" in Czech (a turntable is "a circular revolving platform for turning a railroad locomotive or other vehicle"). Bohumír Jan Dlabač was a Czech poet, librarian, and music scholar. Dlabačov is the name of the area near Strahov where Dlabač worked. The Dlabačov tram loop was built to serve the nearby Strahov Stadium (which Janek mentioned at 5:01).
I guess they used the word "Točna" as a word play, because you can get a "točené pivo" there. So from my understanding, it is the Dlabačov place to get a "točené pivo".
@@erikziak1249 Ah, that makes sense. The menu (at 2:46) says "pivo 'Točená' ", so the quotes in "Točená" do suggest a word play between "točna" (turntable) and "točené pivo" (draft/tap beer), and the capitalization ("Točená" with capital "T") suggests it's their own beer. Thanks for pointing it out!
I can't emphasize enough how awesome the fries are there - all made from fresh potatoes. With cheese and/or meat it's a whole meal! ... and the beer goes perfectly with the fries. 🍻
By complete coincidence, we spotted this whilst on another tram. We had watched your video and it was on our to-do list. We enjoyed a nice Czech beer on the tram and my husband had the time of his life in the driver’s cabin. Very cool tram and lovely people running the bistro.
In Helsinki there is also tram where you can drink beer. But thats moving also :) 😊
We are Swiss and were in Prague again 2 days ago. As always, we wanted to buy kolace (small, delicious cakes) before heading home. We tried it in several bakeries both in Prague and in the countryside. Unfortunately unsuccessful. The disappointment of our family at home was great. By the way, the transport system in Prague is great, even without beer.
I just came back from Prague and didn't visit this place sadly😢, but trip to Prague was amaizing 🇱🇹❤🇨🇿
20 years ago you could rent out a tram for a rolling party. All the foreign students at CVUT did that near the end of the term to celebrate.
You still can, there's even a tramcar specially designed for this, called T3 Coupé
Bzučák is such an onomatopeic word. Love it! 😸
Another amazing place to visit in Prague. I love your videos! 🙂
I was there just last sunday, and I even said to my family :"I wonder why the Honest Guide hasn't made a video about this place yet", and well, now you did. We took the tram line 42 (the historic one) there and had a beer while we waited to go back into town again. Lovely spot, lovely video.
Oh and by the way, thank you for all your great videos - we saw so many places in Prague that we wouldn't have discovered if it hadn't been for your videos. You do an amazing job!
Great video again. My wife and I are coming on the 22nd August for 3 nights. The reason for our trip, it is your videos showcasing a great city. Bring on the beer and non tourist food.
here in poland there are many tram cafes! i think these are extremely cool and a very unique experience
Do you mind sharing their names? :)
@@tobiascornille two of them that i know of are located in poznań. One is in the city center on półwiejska Street and the other one is on the other one is right next to the "rondo rataje" bus station.
That is super cool. The only non-museum tram in my city is also a restaurant, but it's takeaway hole-in-the-...tram and they are thankfully very good.
Great video guys, will add that to our list for next time we visit Prague :)
We have something simmilar here in Stockholm, Sweden on our heritage tramway museum line called Djurgårdslinjen. It is a old trailerwagon that is normally used as a Cafe, but has not been in active service since 2019
What an incredible place! I love seeing how historically and culturally significant it is.
Historically yes, culturally no. No one goes there much anymore
You're the reason I'm visiting Prague!
Nice, added to the list for the next visit 🔥
We have a moving tram restaurant in Rotterdam! It's been threatened with closure however; the transport authority who took care of the exploitation & maintenance costs is stepping out, and it's very difficult to get exploitation rights here.
I also made the connection with Rottertram. 🚋
I love that it shows a pictogram of a beer in place of the tram line number on the front of the tram.
Very cool 👌
Very cool!
I've lived in prague for 2 years- in Koleje Strahov for 6 months and walking by here a lot. I've still never been to Prague Castle. Been to Vysehrad a lot though
Excellent! 🍻
This is so awesome! I hope more Tatra T3s will become bars 😁
aww i missed this one, whould be fun to see
Wow!This is cool!
Great video, great place and I am sure great beer
Hi Janek, I visited Prague last week. Thanks for the tips and tricks regarding the 'Edalnice', very helpful! One thing that may be interesting: when paying for the hotel they offered to pay (by card) in Koruna or Euro. They placed the exchange rate card *very* far away but I could just make out that the rate was extremely bad (25% below bank exchange rate). Perhaps something for a video?
I think this was mentioned in some previous video, but it surely was a long time ago. When paying in foreign currencies (at the spot), always choose to pay in that foreign currency because the exchange rate used will be that of your own bank. If you choose your currency, they set their own exchange rate and it can be very bad.
Close to Pivovar Strahov as well, so maybe part of a mini beer tour of the area. I also see a Menza Strahov on the map for a cheap food stop (save the Kč for the piva), and that is on the way to Petřin. That all seems like an interesting half day that only intersects a bit with touristy Prague.
love the train-themed videos
i'll defintely go here when i go back!
So far I only admired Prague Castle from a distance. This looks like fun though. If I visit (only here for one more day) I might drop by Prague Castle as well.😊
Let's go!
There's also a place like this in Riga, Latvia
🤩🤩 this is awesome. and in my old neighborhood 🥰
Wow this is awesome. I’ve been in Prague like 20 times. I love it. What a pity by that time this place was not open. I guess I gotta travel again there 😂😂😂🍻🍻🍻 thanks for the info
If you've been to Prague like you say at least 20 times, how could you miss the tram set of two coaches rebuild to pub, standing in the middle of Wenceslav square (the absolut city centre) since at least 33 years back in time???🧐🤔🤨
Impossible to miss!!!
@@conceptalfa I know I wanna kill myself 😂😂😂
Great so see someone making english videos about my country :D
Well that's a cool spot 😎 🍻
You also have the 'T3 Coupé Tram'. A very stylish rebuild of an old Tatra T3. A sightseeing tram with a bar. 7 700 Kč / hour, so I suppose it mostly used for fancy representation. There is a documentary here on YT following designer Anna Marešová's work on transforming an old wreck to something special. It's all in Czech, so I don't understand a word, but it looks interesting. Maybe something to look into?
1.3 million km is 807,782.55 miles for those of us that don't use logical measurements.
Miles are no less logical than any other system.
@@farmersteve129 OK, then, I travel 52800 feet. How many miles is that?
I travel 100000 kilometers, how many meters is that.
Now tell me which one is more logical?
Wow, Czechia has become a lot more expensive, €5,80 for portion of fries?! That smash burgers place is a little bit cheaper at 110CKZ (€4.58)
But I just checked the local prices in Gouda center (NL): €3,45 (83CKZ) for regular "vegan" fries, €1,70 (40CKZ) extra if you want the special "cheezer" sauce.
Also in the center of Amsterdam there is a great place called "Heertje" (home made vegan fries) and even then it's not that expensive portion small: €2,75 (66CKZ), large: €3,75 (90CKZ), XXL: €5,75 (138CKZ), sauce: €0,75 (18CKZ)
Or is this just a VERY expensive area or special tourist prices?
Look up Faency Fries in Prague, you get large with sauce for 88CZK. It's always more expensive from a stand and in a big city. In Rotterdam fries go from €6 to €8, it's comparable.
But sexx is free in Prague.
ČKD PRAHA Tatra T3! Favourite Zagreb tram! :)
In 5.8.23 i will be in Praque again and i will visit this cool tram pub :)
Here in my city we had a very old (Early 20th century) Czech tram w/ its trailer sitting on a small square near my home, and it was home to everything from cafe, to a pizza place, to a bar & grill. It was thankfully finally torn down and removed last summer, because as it turns out the original owner has placed it on that square without proper permits. If you think your bureaucracy is slow, it took ours over 20 years to figure out something was fishy. Also the vehicles weren't maintained.
In Kyiv we have the same old trams, and we also have tram-bistro where you can travel and eat.
Prague a few months ago sent some of these trams to Kyiv after Russia's bombing attacks. Prague is modernising its "tram fleet" so they took the older ones and sent them to Ukraine.
wait that's a bar?! had no idea and ..... didn't realize that was the back of Strahov 🤣
nice
What a pity that I didn't know that two weeks ago, just came back from my holidays and was literally a few hundred meters away :D
Just came back a week ago from Prague, wish I knew about the Tram pub and the FatF***k pub. definitely a must visit on the next go :D
Dang - we stayed in Hotel Monastery (400m away) only three weeks ago.
Last time I've been there was the Rolling Stones concert where it started raining
I've been, it's awesome. What I especially appreciate is that they have an interesting vegetarian (maybe vegan...?) option and nice soft drinks. Really recommend stopping by. :)
Hey I'm in Prague right now and I can recommend small pub/restaurant called restaurace u rybare beer is cheap and food varies from 150 to 160 czk and soup today is gulasova it's only 39 czk so I strongly recommend this place.
Also I can recommend place called cross club not only for prices but also for style it's like steampunk styled place with everything made out of scrap metal 😊
What about the T3 coupé bar/tram?
You the man
Man, just last week I was riding in one few T4' here in Zagreb. Most of trams in Zagreb are new TMK 2200, 2200(K)/2300 series, old models are going away sadly :( Man, I don't miss that T4 internal design and all, but man, new TMK2200/2300 are much better. Also, great place to visit when I get to Prague next month for few days and thanks for review of it :)
Edit: just checked with friend who work for ZET (Zagreb Electric Tram), our city's tram/bus operator and sadly we didn't have anytime T3's, only T4's (nicknamed: Čeh, because, Chezch roots) and newer models from Tatra like KT4 (nicknamed: Katica, for some reason), other trams that are still running here are from Crotram consortium (ie TMK 2100, 2200, 2200(K)/2300) or for old company Đuro Đaković with model TMK 201.
Look up the new czech trams Škoda ForCity, and be amazed. Flat floor in entire train, just 19cm above rails. It means you go straight from pavement to tram.
Go to Helsinki and try the koff tram line
Pretty sure there used to be something similar in Kraków :D
Really want one of these videos to be for people with allergies who want to eat out!!!
BRO I WAS THERE A FEW DAYS AGO

"You're a bold one."
Šalina pub in Brno ain't bad too ;-)
Mooie uiteenzetting! Er moet dringend streng opgetreden worden tegen de faciliterende ondernemingen die die schering en inslag maken. Er komen nog zaken naar boven. En banken gaan weeral niet vrijuit
Sitting in Adria just now 😊
Janek, you've said you were in Kyiv lately, right? How was your visit? Have you got a video about it? Будьмо from Obolon 🍻
I would not be surprised if Honest guide brought something like Vampir rocket launcher.
Hitler entered Prague and triumphaly marched through the city to castle, but when russians came in 1968, they shot at the national museum from machine guns. It only shows how barbaric the nation is, even worse than nazis.
I would hang some plants up to make it feel more homey.
My mom just met you on the charles bridge
I'm wondering if the north koreans ever payed the czechs for delivery of these trams as I know for a fact they never did pay the swedes for delivery of 1400 units of 140 model Volvo cars in the seventies, and still today Sweden's Chambre of Commerce resends the old envoice once or twice a year, to no avail of course !!!
Where do they keep the beer?
I bet in the shadow. Beer cooling is flow type, since czech beer is served at 8°C.
actually the old tram is better than the new one. The air-condition of the new tram is so tempramental, quite often off during scorching hot day. It turns the tram to oven. The old tram has better szie of windows, at least it always allows breeze to come in.
❤
This video sounds like a Hobo Johnson song haha
Did I got this right: You were in Kyiv a couple weeks ago!? What have you done there?
We will visit Prag in 2 Weeks, but dont speak the local language. We speak German, English and Polish. What is most spoke in Prag?
Great PA😂
this guy likes trains
Chuchle 2023!
@jjbb8650 My comment is a cogent suggestion of where to highlight in future videos. Spam is someone your mother dated for two weeks in high school. See the difference?
@neoanderson9359 I've met help. She begged me to stay but I said "no way, i'm on cloud eight, only one more to go!"
Jsem z Německa a rozumím dobře česky. Máte to také v češtině? Informace o Praze a tramvaji očekávám v češtině. Můj syn - narozený v Praze - je dobrý v angličtině.
Once a year, on May 8th, they attach bunches of lilacs to the fronts of the trams (between the lights) in commemoration of the end of WWII. Russians came into the city from the east, just a day before the Nazi's tried to escape towards the west. The people greeted their heroes with armloads of lilacs, which happened to be in bloom at the time. There is a statue in front of one of the train stations with a man hugging the soldier and his rifle. Too bad the Commies ruined it all, in time.
Wait, what? You were in Kyiv?!
Training ukrainians special scammer forces to defeat russian tourists in western europe. If somebody needs to pay for the war, it must be russians.
Konecne neco pekneho v Praze
Where do you go for a wee?
I do not know where to tell it. At V. Havel airport, T2 parking (80 CZK an hour) many people - including me - are being cheated because the timer period dies very very quickly and you need to buy a new hour before being able to exit. I think that they shortened intently the timer to catch people. Unpleasant!
Says Kyiv but proceeds to show Konotop
more foam than beer is still kinda weird
Bad barman, or poorly cooled.
Hopefully cheaper than the one I. The main square
Please take in Mind that Prague isn't a cheap Place. They are in their Koruna System and have one of the highest Inflation Rate in whole Europe. The prices are stated in the Video: Beer about 2,60 Euro and the Fries for about 6,50 Euro 😮
@@wernerleinberger9847 15 euros for a sex on the beach and must be at least 7yrars ago
The centre is really expensive.
Untill some assholes damaged the interior of the drivers cabin and they had to close it off... 😢
General Kenobi.
From CSI Prague to Tramway Driver! Nice Place. I am little surprised about the Prices in Prague. Its a "Kiosk" Beer about 2,60 Euro, Fries about 6,40 Euro. 😮 The Czech Koruna System is responsible for one of the highest inflation rates in Europe...
Joy where are you, Daddy loves you!
I think the correct titke would be « They turned this super cool tram into a cool bistro » !
In Berlin people just drink on actual public transport
What's up with the video quality and weird visuals like I took LSD or smt lmao, it's not from me right?
