Hello, Thanks for presenting this series, it's really nice! My age is catching up with me so I might have missed something. What type/kind of spring compressor are you using? Yours sure seems easier to use. I missed how the spring compressor and coil spring locks into the frame as you were tightening the bolt on the compressor. These old Cadillacs are the ones we have a yard full of, one 1968, mostly 69's and 70's. I dread the upper A frame bushings every time because of having to deal with the springs. Many thanks and again fantastic job on your Cadillac. Greg & Jenice
Thanks for watching y'all! I am using just a regular coil spring compressor, internal type that is supposed to be inside of the spring at the top and bottom. I cheat a little and instead of putting the top hooks of the spring compressor inside of the spring, I let that rest on the top of the spring perch. Then I use only the lower hooks of the spring compressor to pull the spring up into the spring perch and compress it there. Let me know if that explanation helps!
@@HornbergersHobbies Yes sir! That's a perfect explanation and I am going to copycat your procedure. I still don't think I will look as confident going about it as you do though. Thanks again and we will keep watching.
Love these vids. I got a 68 convertible that I would love to restore from the frame up. Did you wind up keeping the upper ball joints? I know they are welded in, just curious. Cheers.
No, I ground the welda out and replaced them, the new ones have a threaded section with a locking nut to install. They also have a plate on the back that helps get proper orientation.
G'day great job mate looking forward to the next video
