Everyone has their own preferred strength of tea - there are lots of memes showing multiple cups of tea in the style of a paint colour chart, asking 'how do you take yours?'. A lot of people eat plain digestive biscuit with cheese (obviously not dunking them). In the UK most large, softer doughed, chocolate chip cookies are store's own brand, often cooked in the in-store bakery. You usually buy a bag of 4-5 cookies. There are various 'hard chocolate chip cookies' like the one you tried today made by various brands. (Lidl is pronounced like 'liddle')
Lindsay (sp?) - Digestives are PERFECT for a chessecake / key lime pie etc. Mix with melted butter, pack in the tin, level it off and refrigerate / bake depending on the recipe. It's pretty much the go to biscuit for this like your Graham Crackers. You can use the chocolate ones as a base for a chocolate silk pie or cheesecake.
Tea= steep it as long as you want to taste Milk=add as much or as little to taste Sugar=add as much or as little to taste, the average is approx 2 teaspoons❤
Hi guys loving the video's. One thing I notice when some Americns attempt to make tea is they don't use "Boiling" water. Hot water that has boiled isn't going to work properly to infuse the tea. The water needs to be brought to a rolling boil and then imediatel y added too the tea bag that's in your mug. Using just hot water that has gone off the boil will result in an insipid flavourless liquid.

Only thing watching someone taste biscuits is it makes you feel like something sweet 😂 Great video
I've not heard the word, 'steeped', in a long time. From a colloquial perspective, I'm used to the term, 'mashed', when referencing the brewing process of tea.
My Auntie Ivy is from Lincolnshire and she was the first person I heard say “mashed” the tea. Being from Lancashire this sounded mad to me. I was only about 10 at the time but it was simply wrong as far I was concerned. Potatoes are mashed and tea is brewed! Children are very literal and don’t examine etymology but to be honest at 62 in my heart I still think it ‘pots fer rags’.
There is no VAT on cakes and biscuits here, unless the biscuit has chocolate on it, then can be taxed, A company that makes Jaffa Cakes had to go to court and prove that Jaffa Cakes are not biscuits and didn't need tax, they showed that a cake starts soft and gets hard when it goes stale, but a biscuit starts hard and goes soft when its stale. They won the case, that's how you can tell the difference.
Also, if you Love some biscuits & Tea, even British people some don't like dunking their biscuits, but even just biting the biscuit then taking a Sip of Tea also works just as good & maybe easier! Not sure if you have seen the trend with certain treats where you can suck out the filling after dipping..I haven't tried that yet! Would love you to try Rich tea biscuits or "One dips" as they are known. The second they touch tea they start to loose structural integrity and the game is trying to get them to your mouth before they disintegrate into your brew. You will try to fish it out with your fingers but it won't work. Keep your tea spoon at the ready. 😂

When I was a kid we always had fig rolls, my dad would raid the biscuit barrel and eat all the biscuits, so my mums solution was fig rolls, because no one in the family liked them or would eat them.
Lidl liddle You can crush plain digestives for a biscuit base in recipes To be truly british, its Dunking, not dipping ;) I would dunk most of those in tea, though i drink instant coffee and do the same. You should make a list and add a 1 - 10 rating as you do the test., rate the first item about half way.
In my opinion, not every biscuit needs to be dunked. some just need to be eaten and accompanied with a slurp of tea. There is an art to dunking, knowing how long you dunk for before the biscuit drops off into your brew! We don't generally have afternoon tea every day, but a cuppa and biscuits mid morning , late afternoon or late evening is popular. Lidl pronounced like liddle, a supermarket similar to Aldi. I'm impressed with the size of your tea mugs, good choice!
Nutella is Italian. In a poll by Britain's trashiest tabloid newspaper [The Sun] 25.5% of respondents voted Yorkshire Tea as the best. However, 46% did not. PG Tips is the best tea. My friend in Virginia loves it.
There's nothing better than a nice hot cup of tea after a Full English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh fried breakfast, or after Fish and Chips, to take the grease out of your mouth and help wash the fatty food down.
Cookies here (Ireland & UK) cookies are what you would call choc chip.. they are a type of biscuit like a digestive or a shortbread or custard cream. Though, like most varieties here, there a many different takes on how they are made
Favourite pre-packaged cookie is the Maryland double chocolate chip. Someone should definitely send you some! Big shout out to the Lidl bakery for their fresh triple chocolate chip cookies though. They're amazing!
I’m a Brit that doesn’t like tea in any form! I’m a coffee girl…..but the only biscuit I dunk is a ginger biscuit! Don’t want my biscuits damp or soggy lol! 😂
If you like experimental dipping.. have you tried maccies fries dipped in strawberry milkshake? Sounds rank - but it actually really does work 🤣🙌🏼 don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
Correct, Lynsey Nutella is Italian. If you can get the original Nutella spread, try it on some lightly toasted wholemeal bread matched with a cup of cocoa or coffee. Delicious and warming on a cold morning .
I can't believe how anxious I'm getting watching Americans eat tea and biscuits. Will they do the tea right? Will they start eating before they sip their tea? Will they dip? This is a mental sickness caused by our British social conditioning. I'm a total tea addict and I have not the remotest idea what it's all about so for me it's an interesting phenomena. I think Britain would certainly collapse without tea (it's collapsing with tea as we speak so that's a very safe guess).
I like digestive biscuits (don't eat them very often), but may have crackers, or crispbakes (with or without margarine) topped with cheese spread and apple sauce on top. Have tried plain soft cheese on top of scotch pancakes with apple sauce on top. Plain soft cheese or fruit yoghurt works well as a substitute for cream on top of scotch pancakes or scones. Especially if you have a creamy tasting yoghurt.
Yeah the real art of dunking biscuits is knowing when to pull it out. You want it from cup to mouth soft while not breaking off in your tea. Someone commented below on watching peter kay explain it and I agree, he gives a very detailed analysis
Hello, Italian here, Nutella biscuits are not specifically a British product, Ferrero is the manufacturer of the Nutella and Kinder brands and is Italian. Ferrero, is an Italian multinational company with headquarters in Alba, Italy. Ferrero is a manufacturer of branded chocolate and confectionery products, and the second biggest chocolate producer and confectionery company in the world. It's a private company owned by the Ferrero family, it was founded on 14 May 1946 in Alba, Piedmont, Italy, by Pietro Ferrero, a confectioner and small-time pastry maker who laid the groundwork for Nutella. Check Ferrero on Wikipedia for more infos.
@@louisemorris3476 it’s really good in French toast too! I am a McVities digestive fan, no others will do. Yes you can use them for biscuit crust half weight butter to biscuit ratio. One of my top biscuits is McVities Rich Tea, I have suffered from a debilitating chronic problem since 2017. When I am having an attack I can't eat for up to 2 weeks, but when I do I start on Rich Teas. When a child, 70 yrs ago, a treat was Bourbon biscuits. Yes I like custard creams, Arrowroot, Marie, Nice and of course really good Shortbread. I used to really love Peak Freans Lincoln and Shortcake biscuits, but they are no more. Favourite choc. chip cookies are Maryland. My favourite tea -Yorkshire of course. I used to love coffee too, but my system no longer does. You can also eat Digestive with cheese, not my taste. Also it's as Linsay said Lid-ll. Be careful you two you're becoming anglosized 😂😂❤❤👵🏴🌹🌹🌹
Belmont are an Aldi brand...currently a 400g pack costs £0.55p...McVities Digestives, same size pack (400g) is £1.90p not far off four times the price. Probably get what you pay for, I guess...but to be fair, we get the Belmont Milk Chocolate Digestives regularly and I like those, probably got used to them. They're 77p for 300 grams whereas the McVities version are £1.90p for 266 grams.
I usually get a double pack offer slightly cheaper at around £3 for 2. The difference in quality is worth it for me. They taste more wholesome somehow.
I can hear every Brit watching this crying out NO!!!! as you dunked the Cake and Fig Roll.

You should try plain digestives with real butter
Nutella is Italian. In a poll by Britain's trashiest tabloid newspaper [The Sun] 25.5% of respondents voted Yorkshire Tea as the best. However, 46% did not. PG Tips is the best tea. My friend in Virginia loves it.
Nutella is a product of Ferrero (Italian) all kinder, Ferrero rocher and tic-tac are all Ferrero 😊
There's nothing better than a nice hot cup of tea after a Full English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh fried breakfast, or after Fish and Chips, to take the grease out of your mouth and help wash the fatty food down.
Tea quenchs thirst, coffee often doesn't, it's dehydrating and can make you thirstier.
ginger biscuits dunked in coffee = awesome! also take the longest to dunk due to hardness (depending on brand).
Ginger Biscuits with cream cheese spread on them. Fantastic. Like mini cheesecakes.
I'm watching this while dipping an Easter egg in tea, it softens the chocolate nicely. I'm in favour of a bit of experimental dipping
If you like experimental dipping.. have you tried maccies fries dipped in strawberry milkshake? Sounds rank - but it actually really does work 🤣🙌🏼 don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
Digestives make a great cheese cake base
50/50 with gingernuts👌
60/40 gingernuts and amaretti if you’re doing a lime one
Digestive biscuits are lovely with a wee bit of butter on them mmmm with a nice cup of tea very nice
Correct, Lynsey Nutella is Italian. If you can get the original Nutella spread, try it on some lightly toasted wholemeal bread matched with a cup of cocoa or coffee. Delicious and warming on a cold morning .
its origins is italy but the products are made around the world with varied ingriedients in various locations
On crepes with sliced bananas yum 😋
I've never even had fig rolls or the galaxy cake specifically but ... I'm internally crying that you dipped them into tea ...
Best you stay clear of fig rolls. They are what evil must taste like🤣
like I have said before ... Biscuit translates to "twice baked", hence why they are dry and need to be dunked to get the best out of them.
The plain digestives make a good base for cheese crackers. A good spread of butter and a nice cheese on them is amazing
Try that with a slice of pickled beetroot on top of the cheese with a sprinkle of black pepper, my favourite.
Yorkshire tea is the only tea to drink! Maybe I'm abit biased being a Yorkshire lass! Great videos guys 😊
I'm from Lancashire and you are right..Yorkshire tea...no contest
❤ I drink Yorkshire Gold tea, but *without* milk _and_ *without* sugar.
(& No sweeteners!)
Yorkshire Gold is the best. Milk no sugar for me. Tea is naturally sweet to me
@@scottneil1187 I gave up sugar in tea years ago and now I can’t stand sweet tea.
Yeah the real art of dunking biscuits is knowing when to pull it out. You want it from cup to mouth soft while not breaking off in your tea. Someone commented below on watching peter kay explain it and I agree, he gives a very detailed analysis
@@scottneil1187 yeah true, couldn't imagine jimmy carr or frankie boyle talking about tea and biscuits
Yes they are but us brits love Nutella, in cake, on toast, I spread it on rich tea biscuits 😋
@@louisemorris3476 it’s really good in French toast too! Big wedge of brioche - cut a slit in the middle of one side and either spread it inside with a knife or piping bag, then dunk in French toast custard, pan fry in a touch of butter and then straight after it comes out the pan flip it in a bowl of cinnamon sugar - churro style Nutella filled French toast - INSANE!! 🙌🏼 you’ll never want pancakes for breakfast after trying that let’s put it that way! 🤣🙌🏼
Hi both, just having a jam donut and a cup of tea ,I got Belmont dark chocolate digestive to try this week. Thay are from alde and thay are part of the rainforest alliance ,for people and nature wich means thay support people working there .😊😊👍👍
I am a McVities digestive fan, no others will do.
Marmite on toast and a cup of tea work very well together
Belmont are an Aldi brand...currently a 400g pack costs £0.55p...McVities Digestives, same size pack (400g) is £1.90p not far off four times the price. Probably get what you pay for, I guess...but to be fair, we get the Belmont Milk Chocolate Digestives regularly and I like those, probably got used to them. They're 77p for 300 grams whereas the McVities version are £1.90p for 266 grams.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but McVities shrink-flation has cut them to 360g for plain for the same price!
@@scottneil1187 how come the ingredients are different?
I usually get a double pack offer slightly cheaper at around £3 for 2. The difference in quality is worth it for me. They taste more wholesome somehow.
The plane digestives you could spread a little butter and jam on them
You should try Twinings Extra Strong Breakfast Blend Tea...sets you up for the day!
I find Twinnings tea is quite flavourless.
Plain digestives are nice with philadephia cream cheese spread or thin shavings of chedder on top.
