  • Rammstein Armee Der Tristen is the first song of the Zeit Album. It is my first time hearing the Album. I am trying to get familiar with the songs before I go to their concert next week. Since I have only heard around 8 songs from Rammstein, I have some cramming to do. I have to travel over 1,700 miles to see them on their stadium tour. It is going to be amazing.

For me a favorite from this album and also from the whole discography! There aren't many bands that after so many years still manage to give me an all-time favorite on a new album. And it's not the only song off this LP. A really great peace of Art for me! Enjoy the ride OG 🤘🖤

I‘m a native German and in fact I really love the singing. Singer Till Lindemann writes all lyrics by himself. He also published a poetry book in recent years. His father was a famous author of children’s books.
All the best from Germany, Marc

I just saw them in Minneapolis Aug 27, 2022, Ive seen a lot of comments from other reviews of their concert of what do you do after Du Hast, my answer is "hold on tight and bring an extra pair of underwear". Absolutely the best concert i've seen in my life (i'm 45). I could hardly stand up my body was so drained after the show! Enjoy and im looking forward to hearing your review!

This is such a well written album. Quite experimental, they walked new path and still it's Rammstein through and through. Love it.
And the theme of the album "Zeit- time" album shows in every song, if you think about what all happened in the past few years. They are touching on different topics, what's been going on. If it's fear of the foreign (Angst), the rise of extremists in all shapes and forms (what this song is touching on, imo), or criticism on the pretty social media world such as Instagram& Co. (Lügen). The song "Zeit" is a confrontation of the band members with their mortality.

Yesss...which they touch on in the next song...Zeit. Social media destroys relationships.

I watched their show from the FEUERZONE at the Minneapolis concert. It was like witnessing a force of nature. Epic. Every aspect of it is just powerful, from the lights, the pyro, and of course the music, all of which were perfectly choreographed.
They played a nice set of songs that spanned their entire discography, opening with this one. When you hear that bass line get ready and keep your eyes open.

I could listen to Rammstein day and night 24/7 and it would never be too much for me. I first heard about Rammstein in 1997 when I bought the live DVD "Live aus Berlin" from the Hastings retail store in 88310 Alamogordo, NM, USA while serving in the German Air Force at Holloman AFB.

The fact that you're going to see them live makes me even happier - Armee der Tristen was so crazy powerful at the live show (it was opening current tour) that studio version sounds bleached. Just like Rammlied and Ich Tu Dir Weh sounds way better live.
    Have a nice day! 😊

hey, very nice and authentic reaction from a non-german speaker. For me personally, as a German, this song has two levels. You perfectly found out about the surface text level, but seeing the other songs on the album like "Angst" and the current shift towards center right / right wing politics in Europe, I'm understanding a social critique here. He refers to the "Party of the Hopeless", which to my understanding alludes to the AFD, a populist right wing party that surges ahead in Germany at the moment. Typical voters are people who feel left alone or as outsiders when it comes to the society here. I hope I could try and show you how many possibilities for interpretation most Rammstein songs leave to the listeners... Great song! Keep enjoying the great band!

Usually there is a playlist which songs the band will sing at which places. The sentence "... but we find out" made me smile a little. My mother tongue is German, but I can't tell you for sure what it means. THAT is what makes Rammstein special

I might be completely off here but I never saw the lyrics quite so positive. They remind me of how neo nazis recruit new members typically targeting older teenagers/young adults who feel lost and wish to belong to something bigger than themselves. This also fits with the marching theme and general tone of the lyrics.

    • @fionadowdeswell-simmons4968

I would have thought that after nearly thirty years of it being perfectly clear that Rammstein have no such affiliations or interests, such comments would have stopped but obviously not so. They have a specific musical style and Till has a specific singing style but neither are for political reasons. The song is a call to the fans to say that despite everything that's happened of late, the band is still here for us. You can read into it what you want. Music is art and as art is open to interpretation after all.

    • @passio-735
      @passio-735 Год назад

@@fionadowdeswell-simmons4968 You misunderstood my comment. I wasn't saying Rammstein were trying to recruit anyone but simply that I interpret the song as a comment towards the recruitment of young people. I've been listening to Rammstein for years and no-one who reads their lyrics can think they follow NS ideologies. But to say that they are unpolitical is just as wrong. I'm not German myself but I live near the boarder and I have enough friends in Germany to have followed the political situation over there for the last years during Covid. It's like you said, the lyrics are open to interpretation and like I said I don't know what the band intended, maybe they wanted to create this exact double meaning. If you want to see this song as a call from the band to the fans to stick together as ONE JOYLESS ARMY that is totally up to you but to me that's not thinking the lyrics through.
      [Think of the lines
      "Gründen auf verblühten Rosen
Die Partei der Hoffnungslosen", the repeating "KOMM MIT", luring you in, promising brotherhood . "Im Gleichschritt" - without individuality, without thought, without emotion, like a good army that does what its told. Just the fact that they use military metaphors here tells me that the song is not just about standing together in peace]
