For those a little confused as to why the programs are smaller and more compact than normal, it’s because you can compress programs to fit them easier. You need to input a code to compress them, but not all programs can be compressed. You can just search online to find the codes. I don’t think the codes are ever told to you, so you would have to know about this before hand
Minor correction: In MMBN2 you can even flee from battles and it still counts towards your next style (both levels up and new forms). However, when you get enough XP to level up, the level up will not trigger until you finish a battle and delete the virus/navi.
I understand Narratively why styles disappeared, but I miss them. Also, I did notice something about style acquisition. It seems to favor styles that are easier to obtain if you go for a more complex style. For example, I tried for shadow style, but it gave me custom, despite me using nothing but invisible chips.
Probably cause the requirements for both can clash due to custom styles only requirement being that you select and start a turn with 3 or more chips (2 or more maybe but i'm not sure) so selecting too many Invis chips at once (since they tend to be asterisk coded) or selecting it along with other chips is more likely to give you custom style. Even though it's slower, i'd recommend that when going for shadow style you just select one chip at a time (invis, anti-damage, etc.) or keep it to just two.
Is it because of what happens in 3, or just that 4-6 are considered a soft reboot? Im leaning to the latter, but both explanations fill in small plot holes the other doesn't
@@BubbyBoy At the end of BN3, Megaman gets deleted and Yuichiro somehow manages to rebuild Megaman, which unfortunately means that the program (change.bat I think?) that allowed him to style change is gone. It's also worth noting that change.bat wasn't a program created by Yuichiro but one that Lan and Megaman basically had to steal during the events of BN2
My biggest gripe with BN3 is that when you get the style change you want you also don't get the the desired element even if you use a particular elemental chips before the event where you change God I miss Heat Guts....
I'm pretty much going to at least get certain styles for White and Blue respectively. That's the reason why I came up with a style change bingo, to add a bit of fun, while I play through the first volume of MMBNLC.
@edfreak9001 Nah, Heat is immune to Lava in both games. That being said, Aqua does slip on Ice in 2, and Elec is immune to Magnet in 2 (Magnet is only in 2 and 5).
@@theonewhowrotethis5681 i swear i had one of the games where I got a Heat element and couldn't stand on lava, i don't know if there's another situation that can ruin it but I remember being very annoyed about that... but it was still cool because the flamethrower charge shot broke through guards and did solid damage overall
ElecGuts was my favorite style. HubBatch, BugStop, BustrMAX and WepLVL+1 were my go to for eliminating almost all virus types. I wish there was a DynamoShld program where good shield timing charged your buster so you could immediately zap your opponent and punish them with the machine gun!
Aqua charges insanely fast, like 1 second for full charge at level 5. Heat charges slow and stands you still to use it. Elec charges insany slow. Wood charges decently fast. If you get it, make Area Grab your default. It also stuns but doesn't make them flash, so it's great for combos.
IMO, best style, hands down, is HeatCustom. Heat is one of the best styles for the buster since the chargeshot pierces AND lingers, so when fighting enemies with frontal assaults, even mobile ones, you can just shoot flames in front of you and they are bound to step on it, as well as make a living hell outta Mistman and Bubbleman's hideouts.
Slight corrections for the elements: 1) Aqua still slides on Ice Panels in BN2. Slip immunity isn't until BN3. 2) Elec is immune to Magnet Panels in BN2. This doesn't exist in BN3 as Magnet Panels aren't in BN3. Corrections for the styles themselves: 1) 8:13 "Ships" should be "Chips". 2) 8:14 You only get the Special Chips while in Custom Style if you win fights without Navi Chips and your Mega Buster while also having a deletion time of less than 5 seconds. As such, using only Battle Chips (the non-Navi kind) and P.A.'s while having an S-Rank will get you the special chips. This is referred to as the "S+" rank. You can get an even further "S++" rank if you manage to win in the first turn of battle (that is to say, you only use the initial Custom Screen), which yields even newer rewards. 3) 8:44 Team Style in BN3 only gives you the V4 Navi chips if you S-Rank bosses under 20 seconds. You can still get an S-Rank under 30 seconds, but you would only get the V3 chip in that scenario. You need both the S-Rank AND have the time be less than 20 seconds to get the V4 chip. The manual that was posted on Steam by Capcom used "or", but it should be "and". 4) 10:15 Bug Style's Blank Charge shot bug is coded incorrectly, so it doesn't actually trigger. As such, if the game chooses that to be your debilitating bug when using Bug Style, you don't actually get any downsides when using Bug Style. This was fixed in Legacy Collection, however, so Buster Blank is a possible bug there. 5) 10:47 Not really a correction, but this is an addendum to Shadow Style's mechanics. As the video mentioned, Weapon Level 1 charge shot gives you Invis while Weapon Level 2 charge shot reverts it back to your regular charge shot. As such, the old Level 2 becomes Level 1, the old Level 3 becomes Level 2, and the theoretical old Level 4 (new level for Shadow) becomes Level 3. Better hope you don't like charge shots as it's not worth putting in 4 Weapon Levels for your charge shot during this style. 6) 11:01 Ground Style is exclusive to White version. 7) 11:11 Ground Style's breaking mechanics are dependent on the element of the style. It's not just the opponent's current panel (besides Elec). They are as follows: i) Heat: Breaks/cracks the three panels that the Flamethrower covers (even if it misses). This is REALLY good for this style. ii) Aqua: Breaks/cracks the target panel and the panel behind it. iii) Elec: Breaks/cracks just the target panel. iv) Wood: Makes the panel a hole (unless if it hits a target, then it just breaks/cracks it). 8) 5:08 Hub Style is obtained by getting S-Ranks on ALL Navis except for Bass (as well as that whole "have 2 styles at level 1 or 1 style at level 2 or 3" thing you mentioned). From there, you might need to talk with the girl who can see ghosts in ACDC's park (you might not need to talk to her [it has been like 2 decades since I last did it], but she does keep track for you) and then get a new style like usual to get the Hub Style (fight about 280 battles). 9) 9:18 Max HP recovery rate is only HP Memory. The Navi Customizer doesn't impact this whatsoever (according to the Rockman EXE Zone).
@BlueStarSixtyFour You really should check your sources before making videos. Checking both the Mega Man Knowledge Database and the Rockman EXE Zone validates what I just said.
@@BlueStarSixtyFour not trying to be mean but our dude is just trying to help you out with these corrections…just a “hey thanks so much bro my bad 🙏🏻” and keep it pushing is probably a better approach.
sorry for the snarky comment, i appreciate you filling in the holes i missed. things have been a bit rough for me lately and i shouldn’t have taken that out on you.
I got my first style ever in BN2 yesterday, and i had forgotten how to get any of them. But i ended up getting Heat Custom. Got pretty damn lucky without remembering how to get any of them. Super helpful!
I was using on my first playthrough a WoodShld style. It was the first one to unlock to me, both in BN2 and BN3. When having equipped Grass stage chip and Undershirt program installed, I was borderline invincible.
The easiest way to get the bug style is to misplace sneak run and the increase elemental virus apperance programs. The bug they create makes you get into fights more often. You'll want to misplace 3 of these programs. I also reccomend using this bug when grinding to upgrade any style or to get a new style. Just make sure when going for a new style you only have the Lv.1 bug of it. Also make sure to earn more points for the style you want than the your earning for the bug style
Thanks for the super handy vid! Always loved Shadow Style in BN3 Blue. Playing BN2 for the first time, I've gotten Elec Cust, then... Aqua Cust. I guess I just spam chips too much, huh...
In the Legacy collection, the button to use the mod tools isn't select anymore, since that now brings up the settings screen. It's now ZR that brings it up.
I just got through beating battle network 3 for the very 1st time and it was so good and the style I got from it this time was heat guts. I say this time because when I was younger and I played through this game and battle network 2, I had different styles although in BN2 I had wood guts and in 3 I had elec bug style. Then when I replayed battle network 3 to practice for the collection I had woodguts style. Now that I have a basic general idea on how to get style changes it's not that confusing to me anymore with the exception of trying to get the battle network 3 exclusive styles for both blue and white version. Still do love style change as a mechanic and definitely enjoyed this video a lot!
It really is a shame they didn't keep styles in addition to souls and crosses in later games. Would have added SO much variety to the gameplay, with souls taking over your style's effects while they're active.
Small notication here for information while Hub Style does not exist in MBBN3 it is reduced to a Navi Custom Program in the form of Hub.Bat. This program will cause a bug however even if you are following the rules or not. To stop this you need to have the Bug Stop program from Bug style.
This combo is what makes the hub batch style program in BN3 superior to it’s BN2 counterpart simply for the fact that you can remove the HP drawback with bugstop.
never got to play BN2 or BN3 (fixing that when I finish BN1 on Legacy Collection), but looking at this I'm reminded of the Noise and Multinoise system from Magaman Starforce 3
Yeah, SF3 took a lot of inspiration from BN and the previous SF games for the Noise system. Noise Change itself is mechanically similar to Style Change, it's based on other characters like Double Souls and Crosses, you can be forced out of it with your elemental weakness like Crosses, you can combine Noises like the Tribes in SF2, and Finalization is very similar to Beast Out.
@@akesan2374 True, First Barrier can really work well with elements that root you in place when using Charge Shots (Wood being primary offender) while well timed defense blocks any attack that lacks guard breaking qualities. Now most people will swear by Custom since it makes it easier to quickly get the most broken PAs and combo pieces out and in the end all will use HubStyle since yeah... Despite HP penalty it is broken as hell
One thing not mentioned was that, at least in 2, the elemental charge shots have different charge times, with Aqua's being the fastest and Elec's being the slowest. Of course, I tended to main HeatGuts style, partially because the V3 charge is capable of breaking True Bass's LifeAura.
This is true in BN3 as well. It's why Aqua Shadow is the superior Shadow Style and why you should discard Elec Shadow immediately. Another thing not mentioned is that Buster Lv ups will change Aqua's charged shot to Bubl-V and BublSide.
@@megamimantenseirock9154 Nope. Aqua Shadow charges noticeably faster than normal and Elec Shadow charges a few frames slower when both have the same CHG stat.
I remember my first style being elec custom, and being amazed at how well it suited my sword turbo deck. Then I got fire custom, and with the grass stage combo, it was smooth sailing
I already knew most of this since as I kid I scoured the internet trying to find info on how to get certain styles. It always seemed so random. Probably was fulfilling requirements for multiple styles at a time. Always managed to get AquaBug as my first style every playthrough.
Style Changes are neat. I get that them AND Souls/Crosses would have been a bit mucn (either you'd have people doing crazy speed chess over which Style is best to switch to which Soul from or combine the two and have GutsSquared StyleSoul and other nonsense)...but maybe they could have been introduced in NPCs? Like, we had a mix of big-time custom Navis and 'generic' Navis throughout the tournaments in 4. Maybe they could have had it so the 'top netbattlers' participating had Navis with Styles-introduce it as something new Lan's dad released to the public after Megaman tested out the prototype so thoroughly, a way for people to have navis somewhat customized even if they're either the kind of master programmer able to build their own Navi or...well, able to hire said master programmers.
Most of anybody's story with their first Style Change when they were a kid is that they get a Guts Style as their first Style Change. I'm not any different, but I did get ElecGround one time when I was a kid and I still didn't know how Style Change worked. But I have a story regarding Bug Style in 2023. Now, in the year 2023 with the Legacy Collection out, I'm playing Blue Version for the first time, my first thought when I got the Navi Customizer was "Time to get Bug Style for the first time". I was ALWAYS afraid of breaking the rules of the Navi Customizer since I was a kid even in BN6, and Bug Style incentivizes breaking those rules when done right. So I thought "why the heck not?" So I bugged my Navi Customizer to the point where I got a 15-use Buster Guard (I never knew about that!), and it REALLY helped me through BeastMan, and when I got HeatBug Style, it was... so beautiful. All the buffs, some of the debuffs I could do without! I love Bug Style. I think it's an excellent risk-reward dice roll where you can have eh buff combos and a really big debuff (Invincibility + First Barrier 100 w/Buster Blanks is one example), but when the payoff is extraordinarily great (Cust 10 + Buster Atk/Rpd/Chg 5 w/Movement Bug or Custom HP Bug), it's THAT great.
Don't sleep on "Bug Style" in bn4 through 6, either! The navi customizer rules are a suggestion, ESPECIALLY in 6 where you can have your programs going outside of the customizer 🤣 There are a few ways to abuse the bugs for benefits, definitely read up a bit on which programs cause which bugs and what they do!
i believe that defeating viruses without taking damage also grants points for shield style, and woah, i had no idea what ground style did, it's amazing!
They only got some of the details for Ground. It's a White exclusive style that cracks everything the actual shot covers, not just the enemy's current panel. As such, Flamethrower cracks 3 panels, Bubbler cracks 2 panels (target and the panel behind), and Zap Ring cracks the target's panel. Wood Tornado actually destroys the panel if there are no targets, but it cracks it if it hits a target.
When i first played the games when they camer out the anime was showings as well so when i got aqua custom style i was hyped thinking each battle chip would have the power of a program advance like it did in the anime but it didn't which bummed kid me out.
When it comes to ground style using other stage altering chips also counts towards the style like grass stage, ice, lava, poison, holy and I think even panel fix as well. It should also be noted that certain styles are better with certain elements for example ground style is more effective when using either heat or aqua forms while wood and elec aren’t as dangerous for ground style. While Shadow style on the other hand the wood element can greatly benefit with the invis and grass stage alongside undershot combo. Aqua being 2nd best for shadow for simply not slipping on ice panels and heat being 3rd then elec being last since it has no stage benefits whatsoever. Elec element however I believe fits perfectly with guts style since you can paralyze your enemies then use the buster machine gun to your advantage to which the zap ring power charge attack compliments the guts machine gun.
I remember as a kid I kept restarting my playthrough when I got stuck at some point because I figured "well I looked everywhere adn tried everything maybe i'm just stuck" somehow I almost always managed to get Wood styles, which is fine because it's my favorite charge style. It was also usually Guts though on occasion it'd be changed up, but Wood was pretty standard across most playthroughs until I got older, so I wonder if there isn't at least some kind of determining factor even if it's just playtime (imagine if element was decided like how TTYD determines what color Yoshi is)
2:36 The first Megaman game I bought was Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue, and I know for a fact that the damage from ElecStyle's Charge Shot is actually 10 damage higher at each level than the damage from Battle Network 2 (Lvl 1: 20, Lvl 2: 30, and Lvl 3: 40).
To be honest, I kinda prefer these over the double souls and crosses. Sure those often had you change your chip folder and play style, but it feels like the styles did it more, especially when it comes to the diverse chip types.
Yeah, I was a blue player when I played through on cart, so I never experienced ground style! It for sure has some great programs, but they're not quite as strong as you might think - there are many chips that break the terrain or outright change it to another type! Not to mention, white version doesn't have the insanely broken "Folder Back" giga chip to abuse it with!
Can you imagine how much fun it would be to have both Styles and Cross/Souls at the same time? That could lead to some very interesting strategies and combinations. 🐍
@@twindragonstvabit can be tough to get bug as your first style since you'd have to have fought less than 49 battles before you unlock the navi customizer since your first style is locked in after 100 battles, even though you don't get it until the fight with bubble man's henchmen.
wish they never got rid of style changes. so much more cooler than doublesouls. especially when they expounded on it with bug style, shadow style and ground style
Style Change is definitely a loved and unique mechanic, but Double Soul is equally appealing and significantly more marketable. Double Soul is also more faithful to the actual Mega Man series.
@@BubbyBoy And also it's more mechanically interesting than Styles, honestly. You get more variety in what you can build without having to grind battles to change strategies like with Styles.
@@akesan2374 I do like how your first Style Change recognized your playstyle and preferences, and rewarded you for it; not many games, if ever, really capture the same feeling. Admittedly, it *is* a hassle grinding up future styles, but it still exciting when it happens
@@akesan2374 I agree! I also think Double Souls gave a lot of character and visual appeal to Megaman that Style Change didn't, and it's a lot of fun seeing folders dedicated to specific unisons, especially niche picks like Colonel or Junk soul. They definitely felt the most balanced in 6 with how it synergized with beast-out, but added elemental weaknesses to lock out certain souls early, but that's another subject.
my first style change in 3 was aqua bug because i had no clue how to properly use the navi customizer, in 2 it was heat or wood guts (cant remember) because i loved using the upgraded buster
I didn't even know there was anything other than guts style. Seems like you have to play deliberately worse just so you can earn a non guts style and the fact you only get TWO SLOTS and with such a high barrier to get another RANDOM one is absurd.
AquaBug is probably one of my most favorite to use style (only behind WoodCustom as my most favorite) because aside from the forced movement bug which is the most annoying one of them all, almost none other bugs noticeably affect me. Buster blank? I barely use my buster and if I do I just use the charged shot HP bug? It just gives me the incentive of not getting hit when fighting Custom HP bug? With a well-built folder it doesn't take much time for me to select chips in my custom screen
Dunno about BN3 but in BN2 Shield Style Points are also received by winning battle without taking damage. I think Legendary Super Nerd did not cover that in his comment
My favourite, not uber style, has gotta be Custom Elec. Charge up the buster, wait for an opening, paralyze your foe, and unleash your chips/program advance on the poor lad.
As much as I know a lot of people like elec. I've never been much of a fan. You still need to hit your target with the zap ring, and most chips activate and travel just as fast as the zap ring. So if you're hitting a "skill shot" may as well just do it with the chip and skip the middleman. Also elec has the slowest charge time out off all the elements. I've always preferred wood or aqua. Wood's charge shot is much stronger and has a short stun at the end too letting you line up chips the same way elec does and Aqua's superior charge time (especially in 2) makes it able to make quick work of V3 navi between chip usage and your custom gauge filling up, especially ones like Pharoahman and Napalmman that like to hide behind objects. That's just my thoughts on it though. Everyone has their preferred style and elements, it's what makes battlenet 2&3 so fun.
@@Elementasic Here's the thing about Zap Ring tho, If you miss a chip like VarSword, is gone. You wasted it. But if you try to use zap ring first to set it up and it hits, you have more time to use VarSword, and more comfortably as well, but if zap ring misses, all you lose is a little bit of time, but you still have your haymaker chip. ElecStyle also pairs well with block chips, since you can use the lightning chip that has a name I can't remember rn, so even though it takes a while to charge, you can place blocks to defend, and use them to buy time to charge up zap ring, control your opponent's movement, and set up your offense as well. WoodStyle is harder to aim, has less range, less stun, requires more commitment as it leaves you more vulnerable if you miss, and it doesn't combo with blocks as well. Love WoodStyle, but ElecStyle is just easy mode imo. Had to switch to Aqua just to prove I'm not a scrub can in the day. Lol.
I'm glad double soul/crossing with Navis made more intuitive customization. No way I'd go back. Thanks for the vid as I only got legacy vol 2 and wanted to know if the styles were worth going and I doubt it. Patch chips also let you do stuff, and I like zero with the triple swords charge, and fuse with falzar or link cross if I can't use swords.
Much as I love Style changes in Battle Network. I gotta be honest when I say that out of all of them, Elec is probably the worst out of all the elements. Sure the paralysis is a nice bonus in helping with additional combos with chips and PAs. But the long charge and weak damage that can't even kill a Mettaur doesn't really make it worth getting it. So it kinda sucks when I end up getting it. More so in BN2 because I have to go through 280 Battles just to get a different element.
I'm also not a fan of elec for the same reasons, woods charge shot is way stronger and lets you line-up chips with the short stun lock it puts targets in at the end too granted it's not usable on every navi without area grab. So glad playing though 2 and 3 again and haven't gotten elec once haha.
The earlier games seem to have a bias against Elec. In BN1, there is no Elec Armor, in BN2 and 3, Elec-Styles have the lowest damage and are meant to be complimentary to chip combos.
you can get a little bit more out of Elec Styles by combining them with ice stage in order to set up extra damage every time you charge shot! Works especially great with a folder based around stringing together elec chip stuns! My favorite is in bn2, using toadman's chips, elec 40, and ice stage / line! Give it a shot, it might make you appreciate the element a bit more ☺
@@8Kazuja8 That's funny, considering that by the time you get to Star Force 3, it's so overpowered that the right combination of Noise Forms and Battle Cards can turn a fight into a cutscene.
@@8Kazuja8 Oh, it wasn't the buster that was the issue. Stun affected Null cards, but you can't combo off of them, but when you combined a Wood form with an Elec form, it can take away your opponent's invincibility frames, so you can do combos that wouldn't normally chain.
Great video! I always loved the personalization and customization that fhe Style Change system allows for! I have a question. For your instructions on how to get a Custom or Team Style, what do you mean by having "chips in hand"? Do you mean to just have them loaded into your folder, or do you mean that you just have to select them during battle, even if you're not necessarily going to use them? For what it's worth, when I had played through the story of BN3, my two favorite styles that I got during my playthrough were WoodGuts and AquaGround. I gelt that Guts' damage increase and armor paired well with Wood's charge shot and grass panel healing, and Aqua's fast-charging buster allowed for a lot of fast panel cracking with Ground Style!
I couldn’t figure out how to use the mod tool in the Legacy Collection’s BN3. The button you used to open the mod tool in the original isn’t on the Switch controllers.
Don't Elec Styles also let you ignore Magnet Panels in BN2? I honestly dunno can't remember because generally if I got an Elec Style I just wouldn't use it.
you're remembering incorrectly, the games randomly rolls for which element you'll get as soon as a new file is started and when you accept a new style, that is set in stone and doesn't matter what you do,if the game rolled for elec, you'll get elec and if you refuse to get a style for whatever reason, the next time you get a style it will be elec again.
Although in BN5 programs exist that increase the amount of turns you can have for all double souls then there’s Bass Cross which has no limit at all and is powerful in it's own right with no weaknesses.
@@RaidOfStorms it does change his appearance in BN5. Megaman starts to look like Bass in that form while giving him better Buster abilities and stronger power attacks that differ depending on what version you are playing. Team Protoman gives you gold Bass with Buster rake charge attack alongside super armor andTeam Colonel gives you silver/white Bass with Hellz rolling charge attack alongside float shoes.
yeah, ideally this could've been handled with an optional feature similar to buster max. That's not even the tip of the grind iceberg in these games, either. You should see how long it can take to get a full set of area grab * in some of the later entries of the series.

Heat charges slow and stands you still to use it.
Elec charges insany slow.
Wood charges decently fast. If you get it, make Area Grab your default. It also stuns but doesn't make them flash, so it's great for combos.
It stubs but doesn’t flinch
I love these thorough videos. It really helps an older game find new life by digging deeper and discovering new things hidden just below the surface.
ElecCustom becuz i cant aim.
Lol
Slight corrections for the elements:
1) Aqua still slides on Ice Panels in BN2. Slip immunity isn't until BN3.
2) Elec is immune to Magnet Panels in BN2. This doesn't exist in BN3 as Magnet Panels aren't in BN3.
Corrections for the styles themselves:
1) 8:13 "Ships" should be "Chips".
They are as follows:
i) Heat: Breaks/cracks the three panels that the Flamethrower covers (even if it misses).
The Navi Customizer doesn't impact this whatsoever (according to the Rockman EXE Zone).
theses levels of “um ackually” are off the charts. could it be, the Legendary Super Nerd?
@BlueStarSixtyFour You really should check your sources before making videos. Checking both the Mega Man Knowledge Database and the Rockman EXE Zone validates what I just said.

I got my first style ever in BN2 yesterday, and i had forgotten how to get any of them. But i ended up getting Heat Custom. Got pretty damn lucky without remembering how to get any of them. Super helpful!
That's the best Style imo.
I was using on my first playthrough a WoodShld style. It was the first one to unlock to me, both in BN2 and BN3. When having equipped Grass stage chip and Undershirt program installed, I was borderline invincible.
Omg lets goooo!!!!! Love your series! Thank you for your hard work
The easiest way to get the bug style is to misplace sneak run and the increase elemental virus apperance programs.
My first style on both Bn2 and 3 was AquaShield, and i love both the shield and the aqua buster, very immersive!

If the grind to level up and/or change styles wasn’t as horrendous as it is, I’d agree with you 😂
Small notication here for information while Hub Style does not exist in MBBN3 it is reduced to a Navi Custom Program in the form of Hub.Bat. This program will cause a bug however even if you are following the rules or not. To stop this you need to have the Bug Stop program from Bug style.
This combo is what makes the hub batch style program in BN3 superior to it’s BN2 counterpart simply for the fact that you can remove the HP drawback with bugstop.
bwoah dude i love your series! can't wait to learn more about MMBN
Glad to have found this channel
thanks for the vid. I'm enrolled in the academy.
never got to play BN2 or BN3 (fixing that when I finish BN1 on Legacy Collection), but looking at this I'm reminded of the Noise and Multinoise system from Magaman Starforce 3
Yeah, SF3 took a lot of inspiration from BN and the previous SF games for the Noise system. Noise Change itself is mechanically similar to Style Change, it's based on other characters like Double Souls and Crosses, you can be forced out of it with your elemental weakness like Crosses, you can combine Noises like the Tribes in SF2, and Finalization is very similar to Beast Out.
that all I knew about outside of the similarities to style change.....maybe thats why Starforce 3 clicked so well with me XD
and the first style I unlocked in BN2 is......AquaShield Style.....Gross XP
@@trevorromein14 Shield's actually pretty good, it's more on the defensive side but it can still work
@@akesan2374 True, First Barrier can really work well with elements that root you in place when using Charge Shots (Wood being primary offender) while well timed defense blocks any attack that lacks guard breaking qualities.

Ahhhh, yezzzz. Very much needed. This shall come in handy when I get through 2 and 3.
I already knew most of this since as I kid I scoured the internet trying to find info on how to get certain styles. It always seemed so random. Probably was fulfilling requirements for multiple styles at a time. Always managed to get AquaBug as my first style every playthrough.
i think if you played in a emulator, the most common rom of the game always gave you the same style as your first style.
@@gab4198 Nope I have the actual cartridge. Probably just used the NaviCust wrong and got a bug every time.
So I thought "why the heck not?"
So I bugged my Navi Customizer to the point where I got a 15-use Buster Guard (I never knew about that!), and it REALLY helped me through BeastMan, and when I got HeatBug Style, it was... so beautiful.
The navi customizer rules are a suggestion, ESPECIALLY in 6 where you can have your programs going outside of the customizer 🤣
There are a few ways to abuse the bugs for benefits, definitely read up a bit on which programs cause which bugs and what they do!
i believe that defeating viruses without taking damage also grants points for shield style, and woah, i had no idea what ground style did, it's amazing!
I love these BN videos
Glad to see a whole video on the styles 😁
Thank you for making this
Elec custom is OP af in mmbn2. You get a large selection of chips at your disposal and you can use the charge shot to stun and set up attacks.
That was my recent new style I got while I was grinding my way into going through all 17 styles in 2.
@@Zyugo whatd you think of it? I felt the stun to set up combos was OP as hell
I remember as a kid I kept restarting my playthrough when I got stuck at some point because I figured "well I looked everywhere adn tried everything maybe i'm just stuck"
somehow I almost always managed to get Wood styles, which is fine because it's my favorite charge style. It was also usually Guts though on occasion it'd be changed up, but Wood was pretty standard across most playthroughs until I got older, so I wonder if there isn't at least some kind of determining factor even if it's just playtime (imagine if element was decided like how TTYD determines what color Yoshi is)
Great video! I have still many questions but i guess the Rest i need to read :)
Small input, for Hub Style you need to S rank all V3 navis minus Bass. And for guts styles it is not x2 it is at a base of 5+ your attack level.
I think Ground Style is the only style I haven’t experienced but holy crap, that last Navi Customization for it sounds busted.
With Beast Out
I just got my first style change in network 3. Aqua custom 😎
Awesome! I try to get a bug style, but in blue I got Aqua Custom not bug style.
Now go farm all those exclusive chips and break the game
@@twindragonstvabit can be tough to get bug as your first style since you'd have to have fought less than 49 battles before you unlock the navi customizer since your first style is locked in after 100 battles, even though you don't get it until the fight with bubble man's henchmen.
@@Elementasic actually I got elec bug style in white version with just buster bug making my buster as a shield.

so much more cooler than doublesouls. especially when they expounded on it with bug style, shadow style and ground style
@@BubbyBoy Yeah i get that, i just feel like Double Souls and Crosses are more varied and more mechanically interesting than styles
Also in order to get v4 navi chips you have to s rank them under 20 seconds. If you make it between 30 and 20.001 seconds youll get a v3 chip.
AquaBug is probably one of my most favorite to use style (only behind WoodCustom as my most favorite) because aside from the forced movement bug which is the most annoying one of them all, almost none other bugs noticeably affect me.
Buster blank? I barely use my buster and if I do I just use the charged shot
HP bug? It just gives me the incentive of not getting hit when fighting
Custom HP bug?
@@Elementasic
Here's the thing about Zap Ring tho,
If you miss a chip like VarSword, is gone.
My favorite is bug style cause I enjoy the random effects I get when I battle
The Last time i Saw Lan Using The EX Code Transforms MegaMan Into Aqua Custom Style and Fighting PlanetMan Using Hyper Burst!
I wish you had some control over which negative bug you get when using bug style. The only one that really screws me up is the movement bug.
Got WoodBug as a kid simply cuz I didn't know how to cust properly. Seeing that appear was a hype memory
I gelt that Guts' damage increase and armor paired well with Wood's charge shot and grass panel healing, and Aqua's fast-charging buster allowed for a lot of fast panel cracking with Ground Style!
chips in hand means the chips you select in the Custom screen and send to Megaman, i.e. the 3 Canons you picked for the turn lol
Ah ha! That's what I had thought that meant, but I wanted to check to be sure.
In Battle Network 2, the only style I have so far is Elec Style in ShadowMan's stage.
It seems like a tedious grind to try and get the others.
I couldn’t figure out how to use the mod tool in the Legacy Collection’s BN3. The button you used to open the mod tool in the original isn’t on the Switch controllers.
You should do the chips associated with these style changes, they can be confusing.
Don't Elec Styles also let you ignore Magnet Panels in BN2? I honestly dunno can't remember because generally if I got an Elec Style I just wouldn't use it.
What did you not mention the style that’s exclusive to BN3 white?
maybe i remember incorrectly, but i swear using chips with the element you want would help you get the style with the element you used.
you're remembering incorrectly, the games randomly rolls for which element you'll get as soon as a new file is started and when you accept a new style, that is set in stone and doesn't matter what you do,if the game rolled for elec, you'll get elec and if you refuse to get a style for whatever reason, the next time you get a style it will be elec again.
Isn't Ground Style exclusive to BN 3 White?
Yes
Yeah, he forgot to add that and got some other aspects of the video wrong.
Is that how you use those chips 😨 so long playing the game in childhood but never put 2&2 together 😭
my personal preference is styles over souls, but crosses over styles, the souls having turn timers kinda kill them a little for me
Although in BN5 programs exist that increase the amount of turns you can have for all double souls then there’s Bass Cross which has no limit at all and is powerful in it's own right with no weaknesses.
@@RazuX5 i mean yeah but you said it yourself, that's pretty much a cross, and doesn't swap appearance at all iirc
What does dark license do?
The only thing I don't like about styles is the grind to set each one. I mean why 100+ battles?
yeah, ideally this could've been handled with an optional feature similar to buster max. That's not even the tip of the grind iceberg in these games, either. You should see how long it can take to get a full set of area grab * in some of the later entries of the series.
So for shadow style the element of the style for the charge shot is kinda negated then cuz it becomes invisible right?
How is elec style weak to wood?
Have you seen what a lightning bolt does to a tree?

I am currently at the point in the story were Willy just got his hands on Alpha's data thx to Drillman.
My first change was custom style and since getting that i have actively been using invis * as my standard chip and using it every chance i get, even added in anti-damage for a while because i could swear i read that also helps getting it but it just won't trigger
Is there a bug or something in the legacy edition on PS4 (playing on PS5) that mess with getting a 2nd style change?, i recall it also took hella long to get my 2nd one on BN2
