I want to tell y'all how much of a blessing your content is for me. The whole idea that trusting in God is SO radically different from trusting in people (because we're inherently broken due to the fall) has been such a revelation to me. After I first got saved, the Holy Spirit started to convict me on the level of idolatry I had for my (abusive) husband. God showed me how I was wanting this very broken man to be my "everything" to me...when in reality...the only being that can be my end-all-be-all is the Alpha and Omega Himself. I'm so very grateful for you Lysa, Jim, and Joel. Thank you for what you do.

Listening to this has helped me hone a shame script I have endured. “You’re TOO sensitive”.
From Family of Origin to other relationship conflict to Church intimidation it has been used. After seeing it today I choose to change it. “I am Sensitive” - to God, others and to the need for others to find Christ. I have realised people who want to stay complacent use this to disconnect from me and shame me. It will always bring a pause if someone speaks it, and I will have to check my narrative and their motive before proceeding. I am very grateful for your teaching in this area. ❤

Everything you said makes sense. But what about when my husband continues to lie about something that has been an ongoing issue and something that we have discussed so many times. Or when I need to depend on him for some big things in our life and he continues to not be dependable for me.

Alright - be careful, Lisa. In my 60+ years of life experiences, I have not met a person who may be good in one area that isn't weak in another. As with many people, we all are aware of our strengths but give noticably less gravitas to our weaknesses. Your trust issues, which appear quite evident, and I'm sure are legitimate, maybe pull the reins in a bit on your self-absorbed righteousness. I would have little doubt that if able to pull back the curtain, there are personality traits of your own [resentfulness , jealousy, selfishness, lacking of compassion, slow towards forgiveness - as just some possible examples] that God's light would not shine from your reflection a Christ likeness.
Having this video randomly paused at 29:57 - the expression on your face shows both the genuine sensitivity you've experienced concerning trust - yet, also along with the vitriol wrath of judgment you would hand out for those who have wrongly crossed your idea of trust. My real apologies for being harsh, even if truthful.
