You guys been great help for me to be knowledgeable about (one bag travel ) I truly thank you all pack hacker family keep up the good work, and small request please, could you do detailed review about Boundary Prima System Modular Travel Backpack? How many packaging cube it can fit, is it great for one bag photography travel, is it weather sealed when it’s full packed....alot of questions need to be answered, please.
I've had this bag for about five years in Heather Grey. I have not had the laptop compartment fail. I have used the laptop compartment for all sorts of things from carrying laptops (duh), game consoles, clothes, sketchbooks, and even to pack an extra purse or day pack. I have some wear and tear of mainly loose thread in the main compartment, but that's more due to me having to toss the bag in the dryer after a trip where I had found bed bugs in my hotel room on check in. This bag is great for short trips, but you can also pack it out for longer ones. You just have to be creative when packing the bag and maybe not use any of the internal storage in the organizer compartment. Also because the compression doesn't really compress those front two compartments you have to be careful with packing anything bulky if you have the bag expanded when you're flying. Also the bag is listed as being 21.5in tall but it's maybe more closer to 18.5in or 20in with the handle. I always have extra length in the baggage size carrier for airlines that have a 22in max length for carry on. The most annoying thing about the bag is not being able to hide the straps when flying. I always try to put the straps against the left or right side of the bin to keep the straps from getting hooked on other peoples luggage. I honestly prefer to use this bag as a personal item on airlines that allow it. I'll pack a purse or day pack in it and use a duffle as my carry on. Then when I'm flying back, I'll check the duffle and expand the EO so I can bring back souvenirs without buying more luggage. The day pack becomes the personal item.
I always look up for your new videos and with Bo Ismono..good thing you had uploaded on the same day!☺Pack Hacker and Bo Ismono are the best reviewers for me..keep it up guys✌
Tom, an idea for you! You should make a few episodes on the materials that go into bags. Compare and contrast different fabrics for instance. I’d like something super technical but maybe others wouldn’t. You could also compare handles, zippers or even just something like outer pockets. But definitely shoulder straps! Maybe you even deconstruct some bags for science.
The full clamshell laptop compartment is a big miss on the design front if you ask me. I doubt it would be much quicker than removing the laptop, even if they they didn't pull you up on it. Then not even putting the same size zipper as the main compartment... I like the concept of expandable bags, but all those buckles and straps would drive me nuts. I can't see why they couldn't have put the compression straps on the inside, or just removed them and used the zipper for compression? Overall it still looks like quite a nice bag though 🙂

Great video's first of all! Do you guys know of any carry-on lightweight backpack that does NOT have organisation features. Just a big space and a laptop compartment with minimal padding. Preferably the ripstop material like the Patagonia's. I don't want any space and weight wasted on organisation, I organise with packing cubes etc. I want to unpack everything when I arrive.
Hey Wouter! We recommend checking out some packs that have internal organization that'll pack completely flat too, so if you're not using it, it doesn't get in the way. And, although these packs don't meet all of your specifications, they may work for you. It’s kind of blah and a poorer designed, less thought out version of this type of bag. To see it done right look at the Black Ember Forge. There’s another expander you reviewed a while back and while I don’t remember the name it too looked a lot better. I can’t believe they went with #5 zips on an area where the zipper is used a lot and didn’t at least include a rain cover. Finally those straps look like they’ll be painful in a fully packed, extended wear travel scenario. This is the first bag in a while that I don’t have anything good to say about it.

@@PackHacker nice!
Does this backpack have a "pass-through" handle? the one strap that allows you to run the telescoping arm of a roller bag through the back.
No it doesn't.
Nice review
Thanks!

@@PackHacker just shot you an email :)
It's not a terrible bag, but you can see where they cut costs to bring it down to the $180 price point (when compared to say, AER).

The clamshell design has a low success rate? That's a design that can't really deliver. I might say.

aer travel backpack 2.0 wins imho
Looks like Travel Pack 2 by Aer. This backpack is not worth it. It is way inferior to Travel Pack 2 in all aspects.
It looks like the ugly version of the Nomatic travel backpack
