If the gallery is only for looking at other creations, EA wouldn't have put a download button there 😂 The download button is not just decoration 😅 USE IT if you want to.
Fr I hate people who get mad about that stuff. Or even when people get mad about you editing their sim and stuff. When I download a sim and edit it and “reupload” it, it is never for me to grow on the gallery it’s literally so I don’t lose the sim😂
@mpl347 see this is why I lowkey wish we had a private gallery. Where I can upload something without it being saved into my pc but also so no one else can see it.
At least on console, it says I have to specifically press a button to make anything public, otherwise it's just saved to my library and not the gallery
@@Kleines97 there is a private version of the gallery, lol. you just choose the save to library option so that no one but you can see it
@@baoziday5178 but when I save things to my library if I sign into another computer it doesn’t always show. But if I post it to the gallery I can always find it again.
i have Asperger's and sensory issues, the default game is way too colorful for my eyes after playing for hours. so I'm building a save file where the entire world is neutral colors and earth tones, very muted colors if i want a splash of color here and there. All my townies have makeovers or were created from scratch and they can only wear outfits in neutrals or earth tones... except for a few exceptions that fit their storyline or specific personalities. I've also incorporated cross pack play between all the worlds, my favorite cc items and tons of builds downloaded from the gallery from creators who build similar to my style. If i don't like the colors in the builds, I just replace the swatches or items with the colors i like. doing this makes it so much more aesthetically pleasing for me to play and the entire backdrop of the game just blends better. there is a fun challenge in trying to make every sim different and have their own style despite everyone dressing in similar colors. It's a lot of fun and feels very original.
hi! I don't know if you already know or not but you can install something called Reshade, it's not a mod but something that you put in your game files. It's basically a filter for the entire game to change the colors of it and very customizable, with this installed, your game will be 10 times more neutral if you want! I have kind of the same problem with my senses and it works perfectly :)
When some people downloaded a house I created I got really excited and told my boyfriend I was basically a celebrity at this point.
(Obviously was joking but I actually felt happy people liked my creation enough to download it!)

I have the game uhhh borrowed, and I wish I could share my builds, since having it borrowed i have improved sm at everything in the sims
I always have a helper in my save. This Sim has Handiness, Cooking, Baking, Florist, Juice Fizz skills. This is not a super sim, but he has a lot of advanced skills. For what? I use him to protect outdoor TV screens, outdoor speakers and fireplaces in public areas. I use his skills to build stores with pastries, bread, soda, bouquets, cakes, etc. I love bringing my sims into the store and buying something. For example, in my country, on the first day of school, children give bouquets to teachers. But I don’t want every family to have a florist’s table and grow flowers. that's why I'm going to the store to buy a bouquet. I created a store with soups, salads and hot dishes. I don't know what the correct name for these stores is. I call these stores a prepared food counter (?) For example, my Sim doesn't know how to bake, so he goes to buy a prepared pie. Or my Sim is so busy with work that he doesn't have time to cook, so he goes out and buys cooked food.
I'm also building up a save file. I use gallery houses and sims just because I want variations. I know that my sims will at one point look the same... so with other peoples sims it gets more divers and fun.
all my sims look like family with their faces even still when I’m trying so hard to make them different their faces still have something similar😵💫
I use wheel of names to make my sims I stopped making sims with the same looks that way and most times it turns out good

Who considers downloading from the gallery as stealing???
I think they're confusing it with creators downloading builds, then reuploading them as their own.

i think some people might be confused with those that download from the gallery but just reload the same build/sims under their account - that i would consider stealing
exactly! ppl who put stuff on the gallery usually do it for other ppl to freely use 😭
The gallery is one of the best things in the Sims 4 .. I would use rotation by using the manage worlds option because I want my other creations (sims) to be friends or even date with my other creations ( sims ) to make different perspectives from them and their households and that's how my game becomes slightly better
I am so glad you brought up johnny zest. Its one of the things I "fixed" in my save file. Just because you disown your family doesn't mean you forget them. I always add him back to the family tree and give them negative relationship bars
I also gave eliza and bob twins (Bobbi {girl} and Elijah) and divorce them and add a parent trap style storyline where each takes one twin.

Every time I start a new game, the base game worlds are like this:
- Willow Creek: Basic happy family gameplay world. Good schools, friendly neighbors, etc.
- Oasis Springs: Crime filled 18+ world. Drugs, gangs, crappy houses (except for the rich part with the grass).
- New Crest: Blank. Because I never use that world 😂
Lol, Newcrest is usually my business world for retail, restaurants etc instead of using up lots in Willow or Oasis

@@kimberlyjeanne9456same! I use it as a big city (like my home country has Vienna) I got everything I need there, so I don't need to go through different worlds to find what I'm looking for
3:39 The first thing I do when I start a new save is fix the Johnny’s relationship with the Landgraabs and add Iggy Pancake to the save. I am working on some proper saves, but those are two quick things I do with every save. It’s not as if I have to worry about messing up relationships, because no one in basegame has any outside their household, so I just switch out the pancakes for the ones on the gallery.
I’m switching the goths back for old ones and make them vampires
@@LianeCarina I will probably do a lot more in time. I will be making my own Goths eventually for my TS2 save, so maybe I will switch those in.

I have been playing Sims 4 for a while now, but I really don't go into the actual gameplay...rather I delight in creating Sims and building/decorating. It's about time that I start a Save File! This is embarrassing, but I have lost so many awesome builds in the past from not doing a save file. I Must Do This.
I lost all my Sims that I spent so long building up with skills and story lines. I stopped playing for a long because of this. I had no clue you needed a special save file. Sad. Thank you for the help. I'm still a bit confused, but this is so new to me and I didn't have this problem a long time ago just about a year.

I do most of these things and they're great tips for save files! When you finally have the world the way you want it, ALWAYS "SAVE AS" so you'll always have an original copy. I can't play without Lotharihoe's mod, it's a necessity. And those map overlays are gorgeous, I'm definitely going to download those ASAP! 😍
I started a save file where I am trying to go through each aspiration with different sims. The gallery has been such a life saver! I have found so many sims and lots that have really helped me build it up. Especially since I have so many packs and so many worlds.

I've been working on a save file and TOOL is a great mod to use. Even if you don't use any other mods in a default save, you can put all sorts of things from the vanilla game in the surrounding world using it. Want that bit of land that sticks into the sea in willow creek's Crawdad Quarter to have a wedding arch? Now you can. Want the dock in Magnolia Promenade to have a seafood stall? Now it does. Want Foundry Cove to be set up as an eco-friendly car-free space because there aren't any cars (and your sim won't have any, they're not in the game) travelling along that road so you might as well have some planters and stalls and the like? Now you can.
Actually, want to edit this to say that at the very least I recommend putting the NAP community board somewhere in each community (at least those with houses).
Bro the gallery is meant to be used. It’s bad enough we don’t have the customization from sims 3. Honestly I’ll usually download from the gallery and edit it a bit whether it be a sim or a house but I do use cc lol
Same ❤ I love the gallery and used it for my strangerville turns strangetown world. I looked up all the houses and Sims, and downloaded them. I used the mod to build at the laboratory with the mother plant and put an awesome museum there with the crash side ufo from sims 2. I remodeled it a bit to fit it for my liking. I love all the creative people on the gallery you all make my day ❤ I even put a second crazy Bella Goth in my game. Just used the goth family, deleted all, mortimer and kids and made Bella paranoid but the other two stayed. They both look alike and I gave the paranoid Bella likes and dislikes. Paranoid Bella likes fighting and bad interactions. That will make her different from the other.
I live for the gallery even though I like building, most times I’d rather play. So shopping for builds in the gallery is key and also fun!

This is genius. I never even thought about this. I literally made the perfect save. No joke I literally spent almost a year perfecting it but it got corrupted so I had to delete it. (I didn't have to but it's a bit like having hair that's heat damaged. You have to get rid of it). I wish I had saved a template of it before it got ruined. It would have been so lush 😂
I have a tip for the gallery lol, DONT save everything you see that you MAY like to have, only what you want. Or your library will fill up pretty quick lol.

I'm on console. For my save I try to only build in my save file and when I want a fresh save, I will make a new save of it and create a new family. Any sims from my legacies i love and enjoy get saved to the gallery with a short blurb of what i want to do with their story and moved to the base save file. It's a bit convoluted, but it works. I also try to live on different lots each time I play and if there is a house I particularly like that I've built for them it gets moved to that same lot on my save file as well. Sometimes when sims are moved from their legacy save I can try out new stories with them I couldn't in their original file. It's fun. I turned aging off and have a sim named Kal Ector whose sole mission in life I'd to find all the collectables for my Oasis Springs Museum of Natural Science. She is also my test sim for my builds.
Same! I play on PS4 and I had since learn to not rely on the private My Library because mine got resetted more than once. So I upload the builds I love to keep for future on My Gallery. And so I treat it as permanent posts so I take time crafting descriptions/lore for my future self to remember.
I haven't played in a while but now I'd definitely turn aging off and that auto life milestone thing!
The Martínez kids ended up looking so ugly than their parents when they auto-aged up as teens. 😅😅
this is exactly what I do! I'm on Xbox, and I upload mine to the gallery with lore/descriptions too. I started my save file pre-covid and I'm still working through it... I give them in depth stories & relationships so it takes me a while (I play Sims fairly regularly). I also have a large file in my notes app on my phone of all future ideas for the save, as well as a looong Word Doc on my laptop/hard drive full of all the info for each sim & family in my game so far so I can keep referring back to them if I need to 😅

This was super helpful!! I love playing Sims on my Xbox, but I’m definitely not a pro 😅 Making save-files & the whole mechanics/technical side of The Sims can be daunting. This really helped clear things up & inspired gameplay ideas! I currently only have two save files: “Life 1” & “Life B” 😂 One is my original 1st save ever from when I started playing The Sims 4, it just has my “Simself” & the other save has my newer “Legacy Challenge” household. I could’ve just saved them in the same save-file, but oh well 🙃

I just started a legacy challenge in February… now I want to start making my own save file. I’m gonna be busy sim wise 🤣
The thing I've learned is to get my community lots squared away first. A good community lot, with lots of activities, really makes the game feel more alive. And all my new broke households will all go to one lot to get their skills up and meet people. Putting a graveyard in magnolia park for example, really adds to it. Sims from non active households will go mourn at the grave and for a few days after a sim dies you'll see them moping around. But also, base game versions of, community gardens, makers spaces, etc really adds a lot to the game.
Once they're done, you don't feel like you need perfect houses as much because there's great central places to visit.
Yeah, the idea of rebuilding every house sounds insane to me. I'm starting by replacing all the community lots with either custom ones or stuff from the gallery. I made a spreadsheet that goes over each career, what skills or items they need for that career, and then what pack it came from. Then I'm making a community lot specifically designed for each career but placed in the world depending on what pack the career came from. I also don't want to touch empty houses in order to make room for community lots like retails, restaurants, cafes, pools, or anything added that doesn't have any of those lot types premade.

One thing I like to do, is take the sims of my favorite RUclipsrs and put them in my savefile. Makes it feel like I'm playing with them.

Eveytime I play the sims I always make an extra one to be the love interest of my sim cause the base game sims are so boring, making my own save file has been so much fun, now I have a bunch of cool sims to chose as my partner!

Hmm . . . I might try my hand at making a save file now . . .
In one of my rotational games where I am playing as the default townies in each world (I have purchased only 3 expansion packs so far so I have access to only those 3 worlds plus the base game worlds), what I do is play as one household in one world for one sims week, then move on to another household in the next world. Windenburg from the Get Together pack has 9 default households, so that's the only world where I play as two or more households consecutively before moving on to the next world. I have unplayed households set to age up in this rotational.
In another rotational game where I play as the original 40 Maxis sims, I actually use a wheel from Wheel Decide to determine which sim I play as next after each sim week. However, if the wheel lands on a sim that I already played for the current rotation, I re-spin and hope it lands on another sim that I haven't already played as. Unplayed households are set to not age up in this rotational, but it should be fine to change it back and forth periodically. Played households in both rotationals are set to only the household I am actively playing as will age up.
Lastly, I have a household of 8 sims that I want to save to the Gallery, but one of their names contains a word that EA or Maxis deems as "inappropriate". I have an idea on which one it might be, but I will list the names below for others to see and determine which name is the red flag to confirm my suspicions.

You know, I have to say that it never bothered me that Johnny is not in their family tree. I always thought of the Landgraabs as a big spread out family, and it doesn't say that he is THEIR son just that he is a Landgraab so I thought of him as a far off cousin. It wasn't for a while later when people started saying that the sims team messed up with him that I was like "Oh, I see".
I don't think I've ever bothered reading any of the lore for the townies so I had no clue.

If there is one that ACTUALLY works, I'm more than happy to do whatever I gotta do to implement it.
Newcrest is my communityhub for all worlds that are "green" and Euro-Americanstyled like Willow Creek, Windenburg, San Sequoia, Del Sol Valley, Henford etc. San Myshino is more mixed but also the city that caters for Sulani, Tomarang etc. Magnolia Promenade is my "Vegas" where I put in a bad vibe with stripclubs, casino and that kind of stuff. Oasis Springs, Chestnut Ridge and Strangeville is also connected in my brain but more rural and mixed with basics. There is a vet in Chestnut Ridge in my game. Those horses need care and if a cat in Oasis Springs is sick, it has to go the Chestnut Ridge and not to the vet in Newcrest. I really need hotels to make those hubs even more logic. I put vacation rentals in it but still... My Magnolia Promenade needs a shady motel.

Wait who says you're stealing from the gallery? You can't steal anything on there unless try to take credit for someone else's build. I've seen people download someone else's creation and then reupload it without the original person's name just so they can get the credit for the build.
yes! sometimes they just change 1 item and reupload it as their own, its so frustrating that there's no easy way to block the person either

I don't own every pack kit etc. Wish the gallery will let us filter out packs, because the filter they have does NOT work

I've been thinking of starting a new save, just because Mortimer keeps leaving Bella and the kids, and Katrina seems to be automatically pregnant with Don's baby, but then she leaves the house and moves in with Kristopher, the werewolf, or another random sim. And for some reason Marcus Flex marry Judith Ward 40% of the time.
While it was interesting at first, I think I'm getting bored of that drama 😅
A few question about saving to an external drive. Once you've saved a copy of the file to another drive do you need to update that copied file to a new version as you play the game and add stuff to the save? Or does the save auto update both file locations? If I have to manually update the save file on the external drive each time I add something to the game save, how do I do that? Does it replace the file or do I have to delete the old and then add the new save? I'm not sure how this works and I lost a lot of my saves a while ago and was very frustrated that my worlds and families were just gone. Thanks for the help.

i thought you are not supposed to play game in your save file while you are creating it, like you had to wait until your file is fully created? how do you stop the age and stories etc if you decided to play one family as you are creating the family?

I want to create a save file where every family is some kind of occult - any tips gratefully appreciated. I will be getting the builds off of the gallery because I can't build for shit but will be a bit limited as I don't own most of the packs.

What my proses is is I delete everything bulldoze E-VER-E-THING and then delete every house hold and then I go in and make the houses and the sims
Does this work for consoles? I'm an Xbox player so I'm not sure how to transfer my stuff over to a hard drive 😅

I hope someone can reply to this comment, but I need help. So I’ve been having trouble adding mods. I use curseforge to add mods and can’t seem to add sims 4 to it. When I make it search my files, I cannot find my game. How do I fix this??
i cant even load the game anymore 😓 i havent updated since september 2023 cuz i dont wanna spent 20 minutes opening the app js for the UI to glitch, close and update MORE mods ane cc, spend 20 minutes opening the app and repeat until i give up
the frequent updates dont benefit me in any way and i dont want that greedy shopping cart on my screen

You are free to use the gallery only if you are not going to share this save file further. Otherwise it 's illegal and you have to build every lot and create every sim yourself.
I think it’s fine as long as you have permission (but if the creator put something up for others to use, do u really need permission??), and credit them. As long as you don’t claim the builds as your own.
it’s not illegal i found plenty of save files using other people sims, cc, builds they have to make sure that the creator is okay with it
It's all EA's property at the end of the day.
But do you need to do this in a save file? It can't be done in the normal file?.. I dont get it.
The save file is so that every single time you start a new game you have everything to your liking instead of the default
