  • There are days when I actually can’t believe that with all our advances, and all we know, we’re even contemplating the idea of the American government forcing women to be pregnant. It’s mind boggling.

      Pregnancy is still a choice, excluding cases of rape, which are less than 1% of abortion cases to begin with . The vast majority of abortion ca ses are from women sleeping around and deciding too little too late they don’t want the baby they conceived through consensual sex. Being pregnant is almost always your choice and stop pretending it isn’t. Leigh sounds like she’s emotionally invested in this case because she’s been as much of a whore as the women she’s sticking up for- the very same women who make up the pro-abortion movement in the first place- women who will say that it’s empowering to come home after a night at the bars with a total stranger they don’t even know and fuck his brains out only to want to choose the easiest escape route to their bad decisions as soon as they realize the consequences of those same decisions.

      Claiming to be "pro-life" or caring about a fetus is easy. You don't actually have to do anything because the embryo/fetus doesn't need to be fed, clothed, housed, educated, or even loved. That's why they make such a big deal about abortion; it's an easy target. A *_REAL pro-life_* advocate would be for personal choice between a woman and her doctor, then would want every possible program available to help those children after they're born. A child forced to be in this world should never have a need that isn't immediately met.

    • @MyDisavow
      @MyDisavow Месяц назад +4

      I don't like it, but I think I can understand it. I think it boils down to a couple different things or a combination of both.
      The first is the v religious kind. These are people who have been told 'trust in God' through any problem, circumstance or bad experience they have ever had in their life. It's a form of "don't complain to me about your problem, I don't want to hear about it," from other people. It's also a form of "your problems are your fault because you obviously don't trust in God enough, or he would have fixed this by now." Neither are based on religious texts, or even make much sense when considered logically, but when it's ingrained in a culture, it can be hard to see around it. And when you're surrounded by a society that is united by those sorts of fundamentally illogical and unreasoned beliefs that 'should not' be questioned, it's harder to keep a sense of objectivity and critical thinking. It's why peer pressure works so well.
      I think the second thing is a lack of awareness or understanding. That might be around pregnancy and the potential issues that can occur. It might be around the laws that are being proposed. It might be around how the legal system works - like how long it might take to ask a Court to grant an 'exception' for someone to be able to get the required medical care. It might be about existing regulations (which are pretty strict) and what is permissible generally and what is restricted unless certain criteria are met. It might be around the medical profession - what doctors are allowed to do, when judgement calls are made, how hospital lawyers review cases, how consultations with medical experts are managed, how 'emergency' is defined or 'life-threatening' is evaluated etc.
      I think most people who are simply unaware or lack detailed knowledge are actually pretty reasonable when you get past the misinformation. Additionally, once they become aware of the existing laws and regulations, most of them are pretty satisfied with the existing system and don't think it needs changing much if at all. Getting past the misinformation is challenging though.
      For people whose world relies on them *not* questioning things or thinking then through logically, it can be much harder to engage with them, because the effect could up-end their entire life/family/social network etc.

That way women can get the reproductive health care they need and Arizona can still keep their 1864 law in place. I guess she expects everyone to rush out and vote for her for the Senate now, because she solved the problem.

Mummy explained that it was common before birth control drugs and widespread healthcare in Jamaica W.I. where she grew up. Most of the people in the U.S. Senate are in their late 70's/early 80's. @@jetskiwillywilly7970and who makes the decision when that line is crossed when the woman’s life is in danger? Does she have to suffer until she’s on the brink of death? Because that’s exactly what’s happening in these cases. Women are having to wait until they’re actually about to die until they can have an abortion because the law isn’t written with any nuance and doctors are threatened with losing their license and prison time. And what happens if the doctor can’t save them after their life is threatened? You think all the sudden the surgery will fix everything? Women end up in septic shock and even with an abortion they still have to deal with all the infection that was growing inside of them while the doctors were waiting until they were sick enough to save their life. You may think that’s the case that women are fine, but there are countless stories that say otherwise. Just look at the news and you’ll see that women aren’t fine. Modern medicine is supposed to be preventative, not allowing a woman to suffer until she’s about to die before she can have an operation. That’s just cruel.

Twenty six years ago I got the flu and in three days my life was changed forever. My doctor at the time misdiagnosed it but the virus got into the muscle of the heart and lungs. It took a few years but finally got a proper diagnosis and treatment but I was on disability by then. Even members of my own family thought I was just gold bricking on disability as they could not understand how a simple flu could do so much damage. However my children who are now in their forties are glad I am still here as I was a single parent at the time of my illness. Turns out I was extremely lucky as only about five percent live though that especially with the bad diagnosis. It was not my time. The general public has no clue of the struggles folks go through and think their experience is the same as everyone else's experience with no thought to how lucky they were to avoid what we go through. And in their ignorance they judge others all the time. They have no clue how stupid they are. The lack of compassion is stunning. These are things that should be left to doctors and patients not law makers. No one is free unless everyone is free. GET OUT OF OUR BEDROOMS AND DOCTOR OFFICES.
