- Retired Navy Captain Hung Cao came to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam in 1975. He was commissioned as a Special Operations Officer (Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Deep Sea Diving) from the United States Naval Academy, and served with special operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia. He also balanced the Navy’s $140 billion budget at the Pentagon, working with Homeland Security, and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. Hung received his Masters degree in physics from the Naval Postgraduate School, and fellowships at MIT and Harvard. He and his wife April are the parents of five children.

Great interview that triggered my time coming to America as a boat refugee without my parents at the age of 14 in 1981. I was placed in an American foster family where both were college professors. I was hard-working to help my poor family at home, where my dad was sent to a reeducation camp. I told my foster mom in my last year in college that I had signed the paperwork to join the Navy. I could see the shock on her face, and it took me many years later, after graduating from the Naval War College in 2015, to understand why the anti-war movement in Vietnam and, recently, the Israel-Hamas war at all prestigious universities. Having deployed three times in the Middle East, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Djibouti, I have gained a greater appreciation for those who served in Vietnam, being of the tip of a spear and boots on the ground knowing the high level of professionalism of all those who served and sacrificed. Freedom isn't free but fragile just a generation away.
Having retired after 30 years and am now an educator, I am worried for our children's generation slipping into the culture of wokeism, a form of communism that I escaped from. Pray that we have servant leaders like Hung Cao to restore America to its founding of God, family, and country.

Hung Cao is a good man, a patriotic man with a genuine desire to serve in the US military, but he must acknowledge that the US Military Industrial Complex is in the business of profiting from inducing & prolonging wars. He should watch Winter Soldier (72) documentary to understand the atrocities committed by the US in Vietnam and that South VN was ruled by the Military Junta from 54 to 75. He can be patriotic, but he can not be blindly patriotic. The US has a history of inducing wars around the world.

His military career and serve our country as his Vietnamese name's meaning "Hung" is hero.. I love his message " KNOCK THE DOOR" THAT I exactly experienced in 1975 when I was 6 years old in Vietnam. Vietnamese Communist knock the door at midnight and took my parents for weeks because they want to know where is my brother who is a South Vietnam Naval officer at that time. I grew up in the communist regime so I can smell them miles away.. Watch out American! they are coming...first they know where you go....they take way individual rights...next they oppress the people voice... next they tell you what you buy and how much you may have the essential needs....
