Beautiful sunrise!😃. My crazy horse story. I fell off a rental horse. my parents checked me over told me to get back on. I tried to blame the horse. mom and dad told me don't blame the horse. ( I was distracted and missed a clue) after the ride I felt much better, hugged the horse and thanked the people at the stable. lessons learned: pay attention to the horse and the trail leader and my surroundings!!! and have fun. (😂😃😉. better yet laugh at yourself, because sure as the stars someone else did)

That story made me think of how each horse has its own personality and the horses' personalities can be enhanced (good or bad) depending on how they're worked with. I'll stay away from the word "trained" because you're right, Rick, "it's not an event, it's a process". Love your videos!!
You're a cool guy, Rick. Talking about arranging a sleepover playdate for your horsies like they're your kids. Mr.T's patented method of dumping a rider -- is that something Mustangs are born knowing? My first horse that I learned on was a Quarterhorse/Mustang cross, and she'd speed up without warning, stop dead to get me of balance to one side, and then crow hop backwards. It never failed to dislodge me. I got so many flying lessons from her, but now I feel better knowing that Mr. T has done it to you. Even an experienced rider can get dumped. I was anywhere from age ten to mid-twenties, and she could dump me if she wanted to. She'd had some bad experiences with humans like Mr. T, and occasionally she'd revert.
I had a great lesson from one of my friend's horses, where she taught me how good I was at being a lower horse. She promptly ignored me, walked where she wanted, and moved my feet. I was taught how much I didn't know, and it was a great learning experience. I hope this lady realized how much learning she still needed to do, just like I did, and became a better horsewoman after this experience.
From a nurse person...When your cough gets better, get a pneumonia shot your said you are around 60 in another video. You might want an antibiotic if the cough hangs on, could be a bacterial respiratory infection. Love your stories and descriptions of Mr. T. You have a wonderful appreciation of your horses. In another life would have loved to date you, you are a real man!

There was nothing you could have said to convince that gal that her riding T wasn't a great idea. You would have just had to flat refuse to allow it and then you would've never heard the end of it. Best to let the horse convince her that you were right.

I remember telling my then boyfriend, now my husband, my horse stops on a dime & turns on a dime. Don't squeeze your knees or just one or the other. I didn't train this in the horse. Hubby didn't listen. Horse went left, hubby went right. Lol. Horse at a fairly good trot, horse stopped, hubby went over his head & hung from my big horses' neck. Lol. After 45 yrs, hubby still will tell ya, 'damn, I should of listened'. I still lol. Love your story tellin', Rick. 🤣

Bahaha! I laughed so hard when you said you went to Mr. T instead of going to the girl! I gotta say that's a hard choice, I can see myself going to my horse instead of the person. So far I haven't ever let anyone ride my mustangs. I was pretty sure, especially with my previous one, they would have met the same fate, face first on the ground, first ride. The "new" one I'm not so sure. She kinda sucks people in by being really nice, so they might get a couple of rides in on her before she threw them off. The first weekend I had her she bucked me off and stepped on me. Totally my fault, trying to cross a stream, made it through and she just kind of kicked up on the other side, like "yippy" that threw me off balance and then she proceeded to throw me up in the air. I came down hard, missing all the river rocks. I'm still not totally sure when she stepped on me, but I had a nice horse hoof shaped bruise. I've owned her for 12 years after that, she's an old lady now!
Ha! I have a nice horse hoof shaped scar on my left calf from my first horse years ago. I don't mind. He left a mark on my heart and my calf. Every time I see the scar, I remember him. 🥰

My horse is is the fastest horse ive been on I have a horse app and she ran 22km round the track at our yard it felt like she was going 50 miles a hours, I was so glad she listened to me and slow down before the 4 trees in the middle of the track xx💗🐎
Is she an ex race horse by chance? My sister bought a couple of horses some years ago, and I had some horses, but for some reason I can't remember now (maybe hers hadn't been ridden in a while? Btw, she had horses nobody else could ride, so she invited me to riding with her, since everyone else always fell off or got bucked off, lol). She took the calmer, older mare, I took the ex race horse. We rode (walking) a few miles and then my sister said, hey you wanna race the horses? Makayla Johns there are way to many moms like that. That's why this old "show em who's boss" is still around. Parents teach kids that then the kids teach their kids that and it goes around. There are soooo many better ways to help a horse learn then from "showing em who's boss" and whipping them. Good on you for researching!

Very similar situation with a girlfriend trying a new horse in an indoor arena. Horse bolted from one end to the other. stopped quick, dropped his head and shot her up to sitting on his pole then turned and bolted to the other end while she was still sitting on his head! Never laughed so hard in my life! 21 years ago and it still brings makes me laugh!
Oh man, I wish I could have just once ridden Mr. T. He sounds AMAZING. I remember once or twice riding a horse with that kind of power where you're just like holy cow, that was POWER! 😊 One was an ex race horse, and every white fence post was a "go time" signal, lol. Horses are amazing.
It’s reasonable that Rick went after the horse, if Mr. T was still running around and not calm it could have made the situation worse for the woman on the ground. Round pens aren’t like a huge field so he could have accidentally knocked someone over since he didn’t have a whole lot of room. I learned in CPR that when you’re trying to save someone you need to remove or fix any hazards before going to the person otherwise you could both get hurt, or the other person could also still be in danger making it a worse situation. Not saying Mr. T is dangerous, he did what horses do. but I think Rick was right making him settle down. Rick handled it properly. Also, if I were the woman who fell, I would be scared shitless if the horse was still running around and not calm, so I’d prefer if the horse was calm so I can leave 😂

To be fair, back when I was riding, I was really stressed and couldn't even trot. When I fell pretty much exactly like your ex, that's when all that went away. Galloping for the first time was the best feeling ever and I'm sad that I'll probably never ride again.

Hey Rick.... I had a similar experience with an 'x-boyfriend' several years ago. This didn't involve him getting soaked in a creek, but the same kind of 'lesson'! I had two very nice trail horses, both of which I used almost daily. My (controlling) now- x friend wanted us to take the horses for a ride..... okay. I had him ride the more mellow one, since i wasn't sure about the 'newer' ones behavior/ or my 'friend's' skills, altho i'd been told how well he rode! Off we went, everything quite pleasant. My mount got excited when we got close to a nice stretch of tractor path where I'd usually let this young and frisky thoroughbred cross 'go' The 'friend' asked why he was 'high stepping' and i told him this was where he liked to run, and he said "i want to stay here, but you go and let him run" I protested saying the horses "really liked to stay together, and mine would settle down, and his horse was a bit old for a flat out run" But he insisted. "But the horse you're on is a lead horse" I explained " and he won't like me leaving." "OH... Go on and take your horse! Go ahead! Let him go!" .... He was so 'firm' that i said " okay.." =) ... and off we went...........All of a sudden I heard "umps, ugh, og, ump," and thump! as he landed! That old horse could still buck a controlling wise guy off real good. And he even kept up close to the thoroughbred! I sure loved that old horse !!!!!

CDC recommendations are for pneumonia shot are at 65 years of age. Antibiotics are at the Physicians discretion, not typically for viral infections.

Horse bolted from one end to the other. stopped quick, dropped his head and shot her up to sitting on his pole then turned and bolted to the other end while she was still sitting on his head! Never laughed so hard in my life! 21 years ago and it still brings makes me laugh!

Oh man, I wish I could have just once ridden Mr. T. He sounds AMAZING. I remember once or twice riding a horse with that kind of power where you're just like holy cow, that was POWER! 😊 One was an ex race horse, and every white fence post was a "go time" signal, lol. Horses are amazing.

It’s reasonable that Rick went after the horse, if Mr. T was still running around and not calm it could have made the situation worse for the woman on the ground. Round pens aren’t like a huge field so he could have accidentally knocked someone over since he didn’t have a whole lot of room. I learned in CPR that when you’re trying to save someone you need to remove or fix any hazards before going to the person otherwise you could both get hurt, or the other person could also still be in danger making it a worse situation. Not saying Mr. T is dangerous, he did what horses do. but I think Rick was right making him settle down. Rick handled it properly. Also, if I were the woman who fell, I would be scared shitless if the horse was still running around and not calm, so I’d prefer if the horse was calm so I can leave 😂

To be fair, back when I was riding, I was really stressed and couldn't even trot. When I fell pretty much exactly like your ex, that's when all that went away. Galloping for the first time was the best feeling ever and I'm sad that I'll probably never ride again.

Hey Rick.... I had a similar experience with an 'x-boyfriend' several years ago. This didn't
involve him getting soaked in a creek, but the same kind of 'lesson'! I had two very nice
trail horses, both of which I used almost daily. My (controlling) now- x friend wanted us to
take the horses for a ride..... okay. I had him ride the more mellow one, since i wasn't sure
about the 'newer' ones behavior/ or my 'friend's' skills, altho i'd been told how well he rode!
Off we went, everything quite pleasant. My mount got excited when we got close to a nice
stretch of tractor path where I'd usually let this young and frisky thoroughbred cross 'go' The
'friend' asked why he was 'high stepping' and i told him this was where he liked to run, and he
said "i want to stay here, but you go and let him run" I protested saying the horses "really
liked to stay together, and mine would settle down, and his horse was a bit old for a flat out run" But he insisted. "But the horse you're on is a lead horse" I explained " and he won't like me leaving." "OH... Go on and take your horse! Go ahead! Let him go!" .... He was so
'firm' that i said " okay.." =) ... and off we went...........All of a sudden I heard "umps, ugh, og,
ump," and thump! as he landed! That old horse could still buck a controlling wise guy off real good. And he even kept up close to the thoroughbred! I sure loved that old horse !!!!!
