5/2/2021 Had to come back and rewatch this. I remember how you spoke about Mr. T and what a good boy he was standing over you. He was a good boy who taught us all so much. RIP Old Man.
I didn’t think I could have more respect for Tanner than I already have had. This story elevated the respect for him 200%. He had nothing to prove. He was The Hoss. What a wonderful partnership
I can fully understand why Rick is heartbroken losing Mr T,he certainly was a majestic horse, very special that's why so many of his followers hurt with Rick
Dude! You lucked out. I took a tumble with my Arab, Dan, many years ago. He was fine, thank the Lord. I tore some ligaments and broke off a molar. It could have been much worse. The dentist capped my tooth, and that cap lasted 50 years. Two weeks ago that cap finally imploded and I had to have the tooth extracted. My sweet Dan is gone now, but what a great horse he always was. I've got a gap in the back of my mouth now, but I don't care. It's just part of the adventure of life with a legend, my Dan boy.
Love hearing story's about Mr. T.. Rick I'm so grateful Mr. T. and your paths crossed so we can hear and learn that a "3 strike" horse" isn't a horse issued, it's a ignorant human issue. Thanks for sharing another great story.
WOW! This video is a Godsend! It just popped up as a suggested video, and it really got me laughing (for the first time since Mr. T left us.) Such a great story full of wonderful memories of him. Rick, whenever you get down about missing him, I think the Rx for you should be watching this video over and over. Laughter really IS the best medicine! :-) You and Buddy remain in my prayers ... may God bless you and keep you both on the healing path as you recover together from your broken hearts. ~ Karen
Point your finger on yourself and tell the world what you done wrong , that's what nobody can do these days . But that's where you learn the most . Analize your faults and learn from it . Rick , you're perfect at it . Keep 'em stories comin' , we love it .
Tanner always retained that ‘Mustang’ persona, beautiful, proud and powerful. I had no idea how much I loved him till he died. I actually saw Rick’s announcement first, so I was depressed starting yard work but then, in the middle of trimming bushes came ‘Grab a tissue’ video and no more yard work would happen because I dissolved at different times all the rest of the week. How do we love something/ someone we never meet? No friggin’ idea. No one in my life understood and I didn’t give a single damn either. I just knew I would never see his likeness again and it broke my heart, not like some insisted ‘like Rick’, nope, I’m realistic enough to know it’s by far NOT the same as the one who loved and cared for twenty years, surrounded by equipment smelling of him, but oddly as just someone who loved him sincerely far away.
I have a crazy horse story. More about the intelligence of horses than crazy. We were renting a 1 acre property out in Rosanky TX that adjoined other acreage, of which the owner allowed us to access. So our two horses, an Arab gelding (KK) and mustang/Morgan mare (Cookie) regularly were in the few acres with a pond just next to us, gate open between the two. One of the times I went out to call the horses in for carrots, I called to them and waved the carrots. Cookie noticed and ran in, but KK was too busy enjoying his grazing. She kept pestering me for the carrot, but she knew, I feed them together. So as I said No and called for KK she would stop pestering and look up to where he was grazing. On the third call, he stopped grazing and looked up, but then went back to grazing. Cookie tried one more grab for the carrots, and when I said NO again, she gave this big sigh and went running out to where KK was, dropped her head and drove him around the pond and in through the gate. She stopped in front of me and tossed her head and snorted. Like "There! He's in. Now give me my dam carrot!" She got both carrots, and a good wither scratch. I sent my daughter back inside to get another for KK. I've always known horses were intelligent. I didn't know how intelligent until that day.
Got my popcorn, hot tea, listening intently ; ) Always a fantastic story when one can walk away and laugh about it later. Even better when your horse was a good sport about it!
Horses just follow the "KISS" principle ... "Keep It Simple, Stupid"! As humans, we'd probably do a lot better in general if we actually did think more like horses! Great story, Rick! The way you related it, I could picture it perfectly in my mind! 😂 Thanks for the early morning laughs!😂 I really enjoy starting my day with your crazy horse/cop stories, and especially your totally contagious laughter! 😂😅 Hope you and your 3 boys have a great day, darlin'!😉☺
I just saw this and I totally agree with you. People need to listen to the horse. I'm 50 yrs old and I'm a dumby and I learn every day. People need to stop crying when the truth is told. I'm a woman and I agree with everything you say. Woman ate so emotional they don't look at the cold hard truth. Well I do. I listen to everything and I'm learning every day. I'm learning from you. I hope my horse is in tune with me but he's a 8 yr old horse and he's a horse not a human so I try to learn everything I can about horses. Thank you so much for your video's you help me so much. When I'm being stupid I admit it because I'm not stupid. I agree with you on barn witches they are the worst. Thanks for listening. Over and out. Melissa from Tennessee
Mr T's amazing. When in a dangerous situation he didn't panic and his mindset was to make sure that his dad was ok. Good boy Mr T, you saved your dad's butt.
Funny story! Lucky for you that you weren't hurt, or Mr. T. Life is unpredictable no matter what you think you plan. Just like when you were on the roof of your barn trying to paint the Texas flag and you almost rolled off the roof knocking down the ladder. Again, you came out on the lucky side. You must have a good Guardian Angel.
MrT was like... Dad you still breathing?, how’d that plan work out for ya? 😆 I’m so glad that y’all weren’t hurt and that we can laugh about it now ❤️🤠🐎
Mr T is a cool horse, very wise! He looks after his Dad! Mr T always knows what to do! Smokeys pretty cool too! A cat that chooses a person is the best type of cat!
Good story ... I think this quote might confirm what you've said so many times. "One thorn of experience is worth a whole wilderness of warning". -- James Russell Lowell
One of your best Crazy Horse Stories Rick! Love hearing about your history with Mr T and the humor had me laughing out loud. I gotta add that you are THE "Cat Whisperer". In all my years as a cat person, I have never had a cat run to be brushed and take it as well as ole Smokey. He loved it and obviously adores you. Whatta guy!
I say, people get your coffee, take the bit out of your mouth, ear buds out of your ears, helmets off, sit down and listen, you always learn something on this channel. Thanks Rick.
Hahaha. Mr t is a good boy. I went to ride freedom bareback last summer for a bit and when I went to get on I jumped a bit to high and I couldn't stop the momentum and ended up going right over him and landed on the ground. Lol he stood there and just looked at me like "you big dummy" lol
Awww... that makes me love Mr T even more. Reminds me of my horse. I used to play a game with him just to see what he'd do if I ever fell off. So I decided, stupid human that I am, lol, to purposely fall off while riding. Wish you could have seen him. We were doing a very gentle gallop in a sandy spot and I figured there's no better time or place, so I basically dropped the reins, moved my feet out od the stirrups and slid off the best I could where I could tuck and roll. My horse stopped almost on a dime, turned around, trotted back and nuzzled me. I started laughing and hugging on him. If horses could talk, lol... he definitely thought I'd lost ALL my marbles that day lmao 🤣
Thanks for the great story Rick! Had to come to the office today - ate my lunch while imagining Mr. T and enjoying knowing that a great horse very deservingly found the right guy for him.
What a fabulous story!! So stinking funny, and a good lesson for those of us that haven't experienced a situation like that! Good ol' Mr. T. Such a sweet, clever mustang.
Last year my daughter and I went to go help find a mule that had got loose and had been on the run in thick timber for a week; saddle, bags, bridle and all. We found it, I ended up on a foot chase down a steep hill and every time I got close enough to try and grab its lead rope it would kick at me. The mule all of a sudden stopped and with me running after it I plowed into its neck to tackle it not realizing the mule stopped because of a 6' dropoff in front of him. So off the bluff we go, we both rolled and when I came up I had a rope in one hand and the mule was looking at me like WTF. Hiked back up the hill to my horse who my daughter was holding while sitting on her horse still. Got back in my saddle to pony this mule out, the mule decided to pull and run, rope left my hand and then back down the hill we go. This time his lead rope was about 15' longer so it wasn't quite the chase as the first go round. Fun times I tell ya!
Omg, 🤣 🤣 🤣. Thanks for sharing the story about the mule. Animals, particularly horses and I guess mules, too, give us such amazing and wonderful memories. They're so good for the soul. Although at the time, it's pretty dang scary (like falling off a cliff, or almost) but it ends up being a life experience you never forget and just enriches life so much more. People who've never spent a lot of time around horses don't know what they're missing. As for me, I will never regret one moment of my time with horses... from the scariest stuff you can imagine, to the quietest times, my life has been so much fuller because of horses. 😊
Darn it Dad, don't you be taking Mr T up anymore hills now ya big dummy 😂 so funny, always a great story to tell. Bless you, love you and those gorgeous boys so much (and yes, I know - you don't care 😂). I have learned so much from you, before stumbling across you 'mid-rant' one day 😂 I just 'loved horses' and now thanks to you and the boys, I am on a fantastic journey to 'understand them' which is so much more important than just loving them. You are the true voice of the horse and my hero. Thanks for the laughs and the learning. Buddy...Mr T...Dad & Mokie... you are THE BEST 💙💙💙💙
Last time I rode bareback I was trying to get a mare into a nice fast trot. And slipped off into a snow bank! She was a good little pony and just stood there. The shape of the bank made me slip down and end up draped around one of her front legs. She just looks at me like "you came off, does that mean I can go graze now?". It always amazes me how calm some horses are when their rider comes off.
Rick, loved this story. I had a bad morning, my horses are all fine, but I had a low blood sugar, I'm a Type 1 diabetic. Needless to say the ambulance was here as I went into seizures! Yeah! That's life. However, since my husband band me from the barn for the day till my blood sugar stableizes, I'm watching you! So you brought a smile to my otherwise glum day and I thought you should know your channel brings true joy to the people who love horses and good sensible horsemanship. Thanks!
I am all for learning and taking responsibility. This video made me realize I am a failure. I've always said that I prefer animals to people because they are what they are and I can understand them. So my lesson is that I am a social failure because PC annoys me, and I can't sugar coat things. Just tell it like it is, and no one gets confused - but then they get butt hurt. Oh well, I'll just go pet a pony, cat, dog. LOL Thanks for the story!
I watch Rick and hang around my horses so much that when I finally am with people my mind is still in horse mode lmao. Like today I reached for food on the table same time as my brother and he drew his hand away I'm like "Oh shit he yielded to my pressure! Whoever moves first and gives up ground loses and is lower."' Hahaha, complete unconscious thinking.
Before you tied the colt up did you say, "Hold my beer and watch this!" 😂😂😂 And I guarantee as Mr. T. stood over you he was thinking "A pink saddle pad would have saved us both" 😅 Thank you for these stories.
I love hearing your crazy storys, there's never ever a dull moment when you have an understanding with your horse, most of my memories that make me smile involves my horse, the good, the bad, and the ugly lol xx hope your all well xx
This has been one of my favorite videos, not that I don't appreciate and enjoy the others, but this, well, this was just a relaxed story time, thanks for sharing ^^
Again, Rick, thanks for another story that brightened my day! As I said earlier, I am a cancer patient and will be soon undergoing chemo and radiation, and your videos, funnt, sad or serious, will help me keep a positive attitude and seeing Buddy and Mr. T always makes me smile. Keep 'em coming!! ☺
Good luck with your treatment, have you researched the benefits of cannibis oil for the treatment of cancer? All the best. Dad and his gorgeous boys certainly are a tonic 😀
+Sue F I'm in the club too Sue. I just finished my 2nd chemo treatment and can understand what you're going through. Breastcancer.org has been great for information and encouragement from other cancer patients and I DEFINITELY recommend *Think Like A Horse* for information, education and best of all - humor! Nothing like laughter to help you put your troubles aside. Hang in there and always remember there are many of us sharing your journey.
Hi Rick. Your story brought back a memory of a trail ride incident I had about 25 years ago. My friend and I were cantering in the woods, she went to the right of tree and over a log, I asked my horse to go left as I was wanted to stay on the main trail and was not keen to go over log. My horse wanted to go right, stupid human asked left... right left right left..stupid human thought she had convinced him to go left, and last minute he went right cause I lost my focus....bam stupid human hits tree and horse runs off. My friend came back to see me face planted in dirt knocked unconscious. I woke up with her saying "if you are not dead, I'm going to kill you!" I'm lying there wondering if anything is broken and how the Hell was I getting back to barn. Then I felt ground shaking hear hooves pounding, full stop and a warm breath on my face! I could definitely hear my horse say what the heck are you doing on the ground, I told you I was going right. I learned a lot that day. Best horse I ever had because I spent a lot of time with him.
Rick, you taught me to allow my horse 2 Step On His lead line so that in an emergency he wouldn't panic and that's what happened today. He bolted with his lead line running towards his girlfriend and cuz he was used to stepping on the line he was fine. I also used your teaching about how to get the horse to come back to you so I also did that and it worked. He tried to Bolt it again at this exact same spot and this time I was ready and did what you taught me about how to calm him down I actually letting him jump around a bit. Thanks. This Cape Cod girl appreciate you appreciate you
Think Like A Horse I did on base but I learned from a nurse last night when I had to take my girls in that the flu shots they are givin' around here don't work for this strain of flu going on around LOL! Go figure!
I love horses! You have great stories Rick and you speak the truth. And it was your fault . And you are big enough to tell when you make a mistake. That is true quality. Glad ya’ll all came out of it unscathed. I wonder if that baby would have come on on its own accord when it became too uncomfortable? Yes. It would have. I have never seen a cat dead in the tree because no fireman came to rescue it. The cats get up there and come down when they are ready. Plain and simple. Took me a while to learn that one as a kid until I thought it through. Animals are smarter than we think. Survival drives us all. What do you think Mr. T was whispering about you under his breath? LOL
I am glad you and mr T weren't badly hurt and didn't break any bones♥♥ mr T is awesome for putting his trust in you, and remaining calm♥♥ its a testament to your great horsemanship, hands down, you are absolutely the best, we love your videos, thank you for sharing your stories with us, Rick, take care and God bless you and Buddy & mrT ♥♥:-):-) (walt&angela)
Thanks for the story, smiled all the way through - except when it got to the point where the colt bolted! Have known lots of cats, none who liked to be handled ad roughly as Mokey. He loves it!
Mr T was such a special horse!
I love coming back to these older videos. We all sure miss ol Mr T.. Great story.. We can all picture it happening.. 🇱🇷🚔🐈🐕🐴
Glad you enjoyed it
Mr T was a wonderful horse.
This is one of my favorite Mr. T stories
He's in. Now give me my dam carrot!"
She got both carrots, and a good wither scratch. I sent my daughter back inside to get another for KK.
I've always known horses were intelligent. I didn't know how intelligent until that day.
Loved hearing about Mr T and this experience and how he had your back Rick ! He’s a Legend ! ✨🎠✨🎠✨🎠 🙏🏼
Best statement ever. Horses Keep Everything Pure. Mustangs are the best.
I'm so enjoying hearing all your stories. Thank you 💞
My wish is to one day have the relationship with my horse that you have with yours. You’re awesome, Rick.
Who else likes Rick's videos before watching !!!!!
Me, I know I will always find good /fun info!
Got my popcorn, hot tea, listening intently ; )
Always a fantastic story when one can walk away and laugh about it later.
Mr.T : Euuu dad you’re embarrassing me ... could you just get up and don’t hug me I m fine
👏🏻🤗
Melissa from Tennessee
mr t was the man what a wonderful horse
Mr. T was a great boy!!
Mr T's amazing. When in a dangerous situation he didn't panic and his mindset was to make sure that his dad was ok. Good boy Mr T, you saved your dad's butt.
The colt returned the rope saying," I believe this is yours. Thanks for returning me to my mom." Lol
Janes Dough what video is the one where Rick nearly falls off the roof?
It was months ago, in the Spring maybe? You'll have to go back and look at his past vids.
pdjdjdj djd --You can Google it too, put in RUclips video with man painting flag on roof and topples ladder.
MrT was like... Dad you still breathing?, how’d that plan work out for ya? 😆
I’m so glad that y’all weren’t hurt and that we can laugh about it now ❤️🤠🐎
OH my goodness> I love how you tell this story, I Am laughing my ass offffffff
Mr T is a cool horse, very wise! He looks after his Dad! Mr T always knows what to do! Smokeys pretty cool too! A cat that chooses a person is the best type of cat!
Rick, are you sure Mr. T isn’t taking care of you? It’s apparent you two have a precious bond.
I swear every time I watch one of these videos I laugh my ass off. lol! " You big dummies!"
Good story ... I think this quote might confirm what you've said so many times. "One thorn of experience is worth a whole wilderness of warning". -- James Russell Lowell
You're such a good storyteller, I'm on a video marathon :)
Hope you enjoy!
@@ThinkLikeAHorse I sure did, ended up going to sleep at 9 am, whoops

My mare is just like that. In the pasture she would leave me and go home but if we are "working" she never leaves me.
Mr. T helped you find the right answer.
We need more crazy horse stories! And I know you must have plenty!

Rename that hill as "Mount Tumbldown"...LOL... glad it ended all well for you.....
It was hilarious when Rick picked Smokey up by the tail. Smokey was so blase' about it and obviously didn't mind at all.
Enjoying the bond you had.
LOL GOOD BOY MR.T! Hard Life Lessons🙏💝
"Stomp your stupid head"!! LOL great story Rick..wonderful bond between Mr. T and you...
ROTFLMBO I don't know who's crazier, you or that cat. I think he actually enjoys that treatment🤣
WOW!!
Incredible experience and amazing story!
Well done, Mr T❤
Great horse there, Rick!
I loved this story lol Mr T is such a great boy.
What a great story ! Mr T is a good boy! I treasure those memories with my horses ! I wish we could share them !
Mr. T to the rescue... Again...
I tap the brush like that and my cat comes running too!!
Mr. Rick you are a good dad,💓🐻🦝

I love, love, love how you can tell on yourself. Mr. T is so impressive, down right unbelievable how awesome he is!!! great video, thanks for sharing.
Loved this video!!! Excellent!! Keep the stories coming!!
Before you tied the colt up did you say, "Hold my beer and watch this!" 😂😂😂 And I guarantee as Mr. T. stood over you he was thinking "A pink saddle pad would have saved us both" 😅 Thank you for these stories.
Great story and lesson Rick!
I bet that was a cold ride home. It was a good lesson, I am glad you see it that way. You and Mr T are a good team. You are teaching all of us.
Love this story ❤
I love hearing your crazy storys, there's never ever a dull moment when you have an understanding with your horse, most of my memories that make me smile involves my horse, the good, the bad, and the ugly lol xx hope your all well xx
This has been one of my favorite videos, not that I don't appreciate and enjoy the others, but this, well, this was just a relaxed story time, thanks for sharing ^^
“No don’t pick him up by his tail!!!” Me: laughs so hard!
good luck and hang in there
Good luck with your treatment, have you researched the benefits of cannibis oil for the treatment of cancer? All the best. Dad and his gorgeous boys certainly are a tonic 😀
+Sue F I'm in the club too Sue. I just finished my 2nd chemo treatment and can understand what you're going through. Breastcancer.org has been great for information and encouragement from other cancer patients and I DEFINITELY recommend *Think Like A Horse* for information, education and best of all -
humor! Nothing like laughter to help you put your troubles aside. Hang in there and always remember there are many of us sharing your journey.
Honestly, this is a great memory for you... Like you said even tho it wasn't what was planned, it was a great experience!
It makes me smile to hear how much you and your horse trust each other 😀
Thanks. This Cape Cod girl appreciate you appreciate you
you got a great horse Rick. What trust he has in you and you in him. He is a keeper. That guys loss who did not want him was your gain.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, your horse philosophy and telling it like it is, and keepin' it real, Rick! We are blessed to have you here! 😄
Gloria Aquino Right on Sister 😀
That is NOT a cat. It’s definitely a dog under heavy camouflage. 🤪
Thank you Rick...down with the flu and could not hang out with my horse today and this was the next best thing!
did you get flu shot?
hope that y feel better!
get well soon 😀
Think Like A Horse I did on base but I learned from a nurse last night when I had to take my girls in that the flu shots they are givin' around here don't work for this strain of flu going on around LOL! Go figure!
rachel Ames Thank you! 😊
LOL
By the way, Me T , you’re a good boy!😘
These stories are the best! I got thrown off and my horse made me walk back 2 miles🤣
Yes I watch that show... with my pink panties and helmet on 😆😂 👷🏼♀️🧘🏼♀️
Still playing catch up and learning a ton !!!

He is some horse. Thanks for sharing and teaching us stupid humans in every video. Love that big old cat too
Thanks for the story, smiled all the way through - except when it got to the point where the colt bolted! Have known lots of cats, none who liked to be handled ad roughly as Mokey. He loves it!
I have told you a million times, do not pick that cat up by his tail!!!!! haha Great cat. Love your stories.
