And that I find so typical of this country. Instead of focussing on its positive aspects, the Maltese tend to have a victim mentality, blaming foreigners (past and present) for all their perceived misery. If I didn't think this was a great country, I wouldn't be living here. So focus on what's positive and what's working well. Go to Fomm ir-Rih and marvel at the beauty of it. Just stop feeling sorry for yourself, that's what I'm saying. This is a great country, so do something with that.
Yes, I know: I live here. But I took the liberty to look it up, and whilst 3.44% of the Dutch population died (so I underestimated it), 0.56% of the Maltese population died. Or, if you want another example: 16.07 of the Polish population. Look it up on Wikipedia (/wiki/World_War_II_casualties). That's almost 30 times as many, percentage-wise. So the statement "the maltese have endured more hardship than any nation..." is ludicrous at the best of times.
I have always wanted to visit Valletta. My sister went a few years ago and loved it. Maybe when I have more money I will go. I just wish that our cultures were not being destroyed and our nations stolen from us by the EU. It is time the people had their say. Maybe my new videos will encourage pride in our nations and cultures again. Take a look at them. There is a very nice picture of Valletta in one of them in HD! Best wishes from Britain. :-)
I don't think sandro was trying to be offensive...he was actually saying that we don't need the Americans. In fact, we don't. Ask yourself this simple question just as an example: would you rather trade with the Dollar or the Euro?
we maltese rule we have the courage and honour to defend our country most of us died to defend it but we won we dint gave up nor surrendering to the enemie hitler thouth we were small and worthless well we gave him our shot he lost the battle and we won.. long live malta and rest in peace by your beloved children!
I agree with your way of reasoning. One needs to know what kind of people live on the particular land, wishing death upon people who are your brothers in religion is unbelievable.
You're not very good at maths, are you? Those are percentages, and therefore have nothing to do with amounts. I *know* Malta got bombed the heck out of it during World War II. As a child, my Maltese father-in-law stepped on a balcony after a bombardment - and fell down several stories. But I also know that my parents had to flee the advancing front, and my mother saw a young German soldier shot dead before her eyes. Everybody had it hard during the war, some more than others
and also in world war 2, did you know that malta was the only country in the mediterian sea that was not envaded? and for the record ALOT of people died.
"the maltese have endured more hardship than any nation..." That's quite a bold statement. I could think of Burma, as a recent example. And a whole lot of other nations. For example, 2% of the Dutch population died during WW2. What was the percentage for Malta? It follows the pattern of the Maltese newspapers, that have a very small section of foreign news, and large sections of local news and letters to the editor. So hard in search of an identity, that you forget what else is out there.
