- With protesters camping out and calling on post secondary institutions to cut ties with Israeli companies, are the schools prepared if things boil over? Shauna Hunt reports.
These students still have a heart that is not corrupted enough to cheer killing of mothers and children. This is not about pro Israel or pro Palestine. This is about pro empathy, pro kindness, pro humanity.

IF THIS IS IN CHINA, STOPPING THE PROTEST FOR WHATEVER REASON, WILL BE SAID AS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS. BUT THIS TIME IN US, THE WESTERN MEDIA IS SO QUIET WITH A DEAFENING SILENCE. NO VIOLATIONS. DOUBLE STANDARD SURREAL
It's a good comparison if you imagine these kids in America doing some of the stuff that happened in HK, and the reaction that would ensue, it would make the Chinese cops look like a bunch of hippies in comparison.
Nobody makes better hypocrites than the West. Olympic gold medalist hypocrites.
So true, the double standard is unbelievable comparing what's happening now vs back in 2019 where the HK 'protestors' were MUCH more violent and yet US/Canada were fully supporting them. Now when the same thing is happening here at home, look at the government's reactions, and the protestors are actually peaceful this time. I hope the world sees this and stop being brainwashed by the so called 'freedom' and 'human rights' our countries preach to the world.

Stop your hatred of Jews and crawl back to the gutter.
Simply point to those you are not allowed to criticize.
The encampments are already there. What are you going to do about them??
"Freedom of thought, freedom of ideas" - I am a university professor in Ontario and neither of these allowed except within a very narrowly defined far-Left perspective. Indeed, a colleague was severely disciplined for asking their students to examine both sides of some issues. I must point out that this colleague is not non-binary: my university requires that we use non-gendered pronouns unless specifically requested otherwise.
So why are you working there? Does it not concern you that we have a de facto zeroed generation? An entire generation that knows nothing, and is entirely incompetent (I'll skip ranting on the flaws, as that may be my old age bias towards the young).
What are we going to do?
Why aren't professors opening tents? This is more than w disaster, this is the end.
The entire education apparatus should have been striking at this point. Instead of being educators, you are being useful idiots.
fing imbecils
Are you implying that all non liberals support what's going on in gaza?
If so, shame on them.
Amid the woke nonsense that plagues the Left, there is value and good as well. Best example of that is the current support for Palestinians and the condemnations of genocide towards Israel. Oddly enough, the topic on Israel and Palestine is heavily gatekept in academia by the far Right and Zionists. This might sound counter intuitive and contradictory given the rise in woke and far Left influence in academia and the culture on college campuses shifting strongly towards the Left (some of I'm not particularly proud of), but they are both simultaneously true. So you have both sides taking part in gatekeeping. An odd phenomenon is occurring though where we see "progressive except on Palestine". That's a new occurrence and sheds more insight about who truly holds true power and strong influence in academia and society at large. I'll let you connect those dots.
That's a problem among many problems in late stage capitalism. What are your concerns about the US-backed genocide being carried out in Gaza right now which is leading to millions of protesters around the world standing up for what is right?
If someone on campus is being singled out an harassed, put a stop to it. But if someone feels unsafe because of their tangential association to a foreign country, why would that impede someone's right to protest?
I can assure you nobody is being singled out and harassed at these protests, despite the propaganda you may hear from the mainstream media. Criticizing the actions of a state is legit protest. The Zionist snowflakes on campus love to pretend like they are "being harmed". They can cry more. In fact, the only people acting despicable and in bad faith are the Zios. Many peace loving Jews oppose the loony Zios as well.
There's a reason you're koala. You're acting your name

I guess people just don't have a f'ing clue. You think hamas will stop at the jews? Egypt knows. There will never be peace in that region, EVER. Not as long as one group wants to enslave the WORLD (not just get rid of the jews) under sharia law.
you can protest, but only if you agree with US
You can protest but only if you obey the law. Leftists don`t get special treatment and special rules.
They'll have to tolerate for funding occupation.
Politicians CANNOT say "demonstrations" make anyone unsafe. Show me the violence as police arrest protesters protesting "violence"?
Je ne vois pas de campements similaires sur le terrain de l'Université de Montréal et de l'Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Pourquoi?
????
If you cheered when they came for the Convoy people but are complaining about this (or vice-versa) then you’re part of the problem. Supporting crackdowns on dissenters because you personally find them obnoxious only shrinks the Overton window for protesting in general.
The Convoy was allowed to occupy the nation's capital for THREE WEEKS with big truck and make life unbearable for residents and workers of downtown Ottawa, all with the tacit support of the Ottawa Police Service. They were eventually removed, not because they were protesting but because of the harmful method of the protest, which infringed upon the rights of others.
I know you think it sounds different when you put it like THAT, but when they evict the campus protesters they’re going to say (1) that it was making life unbearable for other students, and (2) that’s its not an infringement on the protester’s rights because other people have a right to quiet. And you can say that about just about any protest since they all, by definition, interfere with people’s right to quiet.
I should clarify: when I say crackdown, I don’t just mean police eviction. Some of those convoy people are being sued for hundreds of millions of dollars. The decision to pursue that amount of damages, and the court’s willingness to entertain it, has nothing to do with the unbearable noise levels and everything to do with making an example out of them. We shouldn’t be making examples out of people just because they’re obnoxious, even if some people attach words like “unbearable” to their actions.
you are correct sir. and a clear observation is how much "conservative" folks are complaining about these student protestors, but cheered on for convoy people with all of their heart. It's almost as if 95% of the population have become open hypocrites with double standards or the inability to look inwards and identity their hypocrisy and fix it. I've lost hope
@@mrm1712 Life is a series of trade-offs; a combo-menu, not a la carte. For instance, if people want to live in the political center of the country and enjoy all the benefits and opportunities that it offers, they also need to accept that it’s going to attract dissatisfied groups from time to time. If people want universities to be places that produce new ideas and challenge conventional modes of thinking, we need to accept that it’s going to make people uncomfortable sometimes. And, as a general rule, if we want to enjoy civil liberties like the right to protest and challenge decisions that we disagree with, we need to learn to accept other people’s right to do the same (especially when we completely disagree with the specific cause they’re championing). Either we hang together on things like freedom of assembly and expression or they’ll hang each of us each separately.
@@charleswain3221 Trucker convoy was intrusive and caused problems for local traffic and business. But I do believe they were unfairly politically persecuted afterwards and the media raised so much hysteria about it. Their leader should've been charged with misdemeanors and released.
These encampments have virtually zero intrusiveness and don't impact anyone negatively. The universities are concerned because they don't want to lose their precious blood money from their donors. But yes, Right wingers showed what raging hypocrites they can be. Not too long ago they were free speech warriors. Now they are cheering for these students to be arrested or expelled. Peak clowns.

Good for the youth. The Israeli lobby is dominating.
"I remember attending a pro-Israel hasbara (propaganda) workshop over forty-five years ago that strongly encouraged, as a response to critics of Israel, accusations of antisemitism. Don’t focus on the argument, we were told, but, rather, discredit the person making the argument by accusing them of antisemitism. Accusations of antisemitism directed at Palestinians and supporters of Palestinian rights are not new and have been a strategy of Israeli government and pro-Israel hasbara for decades.
One of the most visible iterations of this phenomenon currently is the controversial International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. Promoted by Israel’s right-wing government and its supporters, and adopted by the U.S. and other western governments, the IHRA definition goes full speed in conflating criticism of Israel and support for Palestinian justice with antisemitism."

As you are a hypocrite. You seem to have no problem or spare no thought to the thousands of jews who were slaughtered in one day by hamas. Hamas is a terrorist organization. It's funny to watch all the non Muslims trying to join the protest, because what the Palestinian protesters want, is Jewish anhilation. But the non Muslims don't even get it. They have no clue they are sitting in a tent demanding that a terrorist group be given free governance. And just in case you and them were not aware, it was hamas that started the war in October.
