- Thousands of New South Wales and Victorian residents are relocating to South East Queensland.
Between 2016 and 2021, the Gold Coast saw an influx of 50,000 newcomers.
Of these, 34,000 were from New South Wales, with over half coming from Greater Sydney and 16,000 from Victoria.
These relocators account for seven per cent of the Gold Coast population.
The warm climate and affordable housing are believed to be the main attractors.
The Gold Coast Council is approving more housing developments in response to the population surge.
Don't know why. The GC is a crime riddled hole.
What is the net migration? The local head of the REA?, unbiased commentary, advert for The Gold Coast real estate industry!!!
As long as they stay in SEQ. Areas further north are struggling enough with housing and some locals are even homeless.
They are getting away from daylight saving which goes on for far too long!
Move to the city, yeah nah.
Especially not that tourist dive.

I wonder if some people will move back to Victoria now that Danny boy is gone from politics?.
To escape the diversity ffs
You can't blame people for leaving the southern states, Victoria in particular. SE QLD is growing in a pattern that is very different from Melbourne's hub and spokes structure too.
Gee, thanks for your amazing analysis, Dannie.
🤣🤣😆🤣🤣😆😂🤷♂️🤡
@@bogan-slayer7469tbh, he’s right. I’d much rather live in SE QLD than a woke hellhole like Melbourne. Cheaper, better weather, nicer residents.
Gold Coast is stuffed now I’ve lived here 50 yrs from Sydney to many southerners putting house prices up now
Don’t move to GC to many people go back home
