  • From the Lawrence Welk Show, November 27, 1965. Despite his program's normally "soft" approach, he actually had a very good set of jazz musicians. On the top of that list (for me, anyway), was the great Bob Havens. He came from a background of playing with the likes of Al Hirt and Pete Fountain, and he did not leave his skills behind when he joined Welk.

Bit of a nerd is Welk, but it's a great bit of Dixieland with some hidden Bix quotes!
