My dad had painting from the prisoners from World War II painted on handkerchief and they did not sign them. Each one of us children (4) of us got a picture. My mother had them framed. I don’t think they are too valuable, but we love them.
I used to have a cross that was made from bits of an airplane that my great uncle got when he was a POW during WWI. I gave it to one of his nephews after my mum died.
Wow that's such an honor to have those you might be surprised about the value you get on the antique roadshow see if they could appraise them
I'm sure you and your family think they are priceless ❤❤❤❤and I would 👍 agree hun.
I just love hearing other people's stories about their items, like the woman who said her husband bought those paintings/prints(?) in Hong Kong then they got them framed in Mexico.
One thing that you can do to check for a print is to use a magnifying glass and if you see “dots” in black, red, yellow and blue, it’s a print. On the Hong Kong art, they were probably from a street artist and there won’t be any online history of that artist. Art is very difficult. It is subjective and unless someone has been shown in a gallery or has online presence, there is not a lot of pricing history. Typically if I can’t find an artist I list using similar styles of art as my guide. Without provenance it’s the quickest way to sell.
A handy hint for opal... If you shine a blacklight onto natural opal it will glow and is VERY easy to identify.
The napkin holder to the right on the striped tablecloth @ 15:36 is Portmeirion and sells for almost 40 dollars. If it had the salt and pepper shakers it would sell for more. Actually I think Portmeirion in general is a bolo and is quite easy to recognize. ❤ I love that you’re not a niche reseller. They keep narrowing their buys down to just a couple items that they shop for and it makes their show a lot more boring. This could never be said about your channel!
OMG the Civil War bullets! Please go back and get those. I'll buy the whole box from you.
Thanks so much for watching - I’ll be in the comments a little later we are live on whatnot
Hey Julian good eye with those prints. They are so well framed and you will get a pretty penny for them....good luck Donna xoxo
Can't go wrong with legit antique items.
11:39 Those paintings and frames are fantastic and they look perfect together. Awesome to get their story/provenance also.
I am going to sleep now. God bless you both( and Willow) from me,Max,Molly moo in a wet and windy Wales 🏴xxxx
Please! do not polish the chart holder! that patina you can not duplicate and that is what makes it more valuable and desirable! You can destroy the value of items by cleaning and removing the original finish.
I would’ve grabbed those Seiko and Citizen watches. Those are good names.
Really neat stuff. Love the chart canister. Wow!
I'm glad you enjoy looking for a variety of things because it makes your channel very enjoyable to watch. Thanks.
Those art pieces are incredible definitely research.
Dr. Lauri love. She's the best.she has a wonderful show, she will apraise your stuff and has a website to teach you a lot. She's great.
I love Dr Lori she snorts haaa
Great finds😊. God bless stay safe until the next video 💓 😍
Growing up my dad had one of those brass laundry bins next to our wood burning fireplace stove and stored firewood in it. Ours has the lid and stirring stick.
This video's movie quote is from Twister. Love that movie. "Don't fold the maps"
I've bought and sold quite a bit of art. I usually look for signed small pieces (easy to ship). Signed and numbered prints, and original art.
Good to know!!
I love how everyone has a story about their items! Great videos!
Hey Julian, I was watching the video before church and while you were talking came to my mind. It would be nice if you and Keyla made caps, mugs and t-shirts with your sayings, for example. “ its not to chavy “ I always get you on the next one “ “really “ “ steal of the deal” and so on. Sorry for my spell but my English it’s not pretty good 😅. Just some suggestions I know for sure that your followers will buy them!!!!
Hey! Dr. Lori on RUclips has some excellent videos on art/jewelry to help teach us what to look for. Her personality isn’t for everyone but her knowledge is immeasurable!
I have grown to love her! I agree but she cracks me up! I'm working on my boldness 😂
Thank you for another awesome video. Great finds today!.. I'm jealous. I didn't find too much this mornin...but last weekend was great. The paintings are incredible! And I LOVE the copper finds.
Great finds today. I love the Chinese painting in the Mexican frames, especially the bigger one, but I ain't paying for the postage to Australia 🤑🤑🤑🤣.
I love those pictures from both sales. They just look great❤❤
I have several Mort Kunstler's prints. You need to read about him.
Very talented
indeed.
Do not put the frames on the concrete.
I have around 20 pictures I purchased during my two trips to Israel. I had them framed when I got home and it is not cheap.
If you take them out of the frame to ship be sure to enclose the paperwork on the back.
Great to see you buying antique bits 😀 👍 should have bought the spoon that you picked up
Turned the volume down. My grandson Max is fast asleep . It’s just gone midnight,I want him to stay that way 😴
Watch it tomorrow then🤐
My great grandma had a copper broiler just like that my dad said she canned sauerkraut in it over open fire. I’m sure they were a multi kitchen tool
Made it to your booth today and bought your glass fish. Love the way you have it set up!
All those interesting finds metal detecting! Wowsers!
Even though vacationing in Japan I have still been watching you on a daily basis.
If you look at the art work with your jewelers loop a lithograph will have teeny tiny dots making the art. Love watching you both ❤.
I had an old beat up copper boiler when I was first married. We kept firewood in it. I don’t know what happened to it. We got it at a farm auction.
I grew up playing in the Drum Point lighthouse! It was so much fun. Great memories.
I would keep the patina on the brass tupe. Most folks like that. Shows its old.
Just love watching you two, learning new things from you both.
Thank u
Lots of cool history in this haul❤❤❤
Really enjoy watching your shopping experiences at garage sales, especially when you are finding hand tools and power tools. Saw you walk by a table saw on this video. You can part those out to get some good money for the rip fence, blade guard and motor. It depends on the saw but I have done real good on the older steel topped craftsman saws and Kobalt table saws. Check it out, because you can get a complete table saw for $50 to $75 and make over $250 on parting it out.
Great items! Nice yard sales. Have a fun weekend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Lighthouses are cool, it’s a fact 🇺🇸
I would like to thank you Mr. Julian. Over the last 24hrs you have been very gracious and patient when answering any question I have had, along with sharing the knowledge you have obtained over the years on certain topics I’ve inquired about. Thanks again for the content from you both.
i’m with kayla! haven’t even thought of yoo hoo in years! now i want one!
Skinner's auctions will give you free info if you reach out to them. I know we have an office here in Massachusetts but don't know if they're National or not.
You found a lot of cool artwork! Something I want to learn more about also. Thanks for sharing what you are learning!
❤❤another wonderful video! That map holder. Wow!!❤❤
Those "little cases" you saw for his bullets looked like Riker mounts. Looks like they sell for about ten bucks. Not as much as I thought.
LOVE the patina on the copper bath 🥰
What a huge amount of cool finds in this video. And love all the stories behind them. And I haven't had a yahoo for years but, now, I too want one. lol I've only seen coke and pepsi crates as well.
I like those belt buckles 😊
We have a copper wash tub like you bought. It was my grandmother's so is over 125 yrs. old. I remember her boiling white sheets in it using a liquid called bluing that made the sheets pure white.
Love these finds
After dad shines up the map tube, make sure you show us it before you sell it. Also, at that sale where everything was half price, I would have taken the jars of coins too.
Keep up the good work.
Love your finds! Some people like the patina on brass and copper, and some do not. I think the chart/map holder would look great polished. I like that you take the time to listen to the stories about the items you find. It make the treasures worth so much more than the amount you can get for them.
Those would've been cool owl eyes on some art.
iPad plants in those copper pots
Need to go shopping with you too
You should get the brass bowl too
The World of Art is a Wild ride 💖💯
I would have bought all of the CW prints...great find! A lot of collectors out there!
Catch you on the next one !🥰
My favorite item you picked was the brass chart/map cylinder.😃
The map holder? Awesome!
New Drinking game: every time you say “NEAT” - lol I laughed at how excited you were. I would have been too though!
Excellent score on the prints 🥰
Thanks so much for always being here ! Means a lot !
Interesting finds this time. Thats the kind of stuff i really like lol. Not hating on golf clubs but...lol. Good video 😁
Okay now gotta go to what not🎉😊
Thank you !!! 😊
Omg is that the light house picture 1970's from the Nancy drew TV show
Your willingness to have such a variety of items you look for is one reason we love you guys! We learn as well. I'm trying to learn about art as well, because prints, reprints, glicees, lithographs, and framed posters etc make my head spin! We can only retain so much but it's well worth it. Keep doing what you're doing! Kayla, love the baby shower gifts because new moms LOVE getting cute, useful items since the baby mainly gets the gifts. 💝💝
Was interested in the "Confederate" pictures.. Did not think they would sell well.. love watching your videos..
Yes, I love the lighthouses
What a find!
Kinda wondering if the guy with the rings is the guy we would see every morning with his metal detector almost every time we're down there on vacation 🤔
Hey guys, I’m about an hour north from Gettysburg and you made a killer deal on those prints. I think you missed some Fisher-Price toys that were underneath the table when you bought the antique things. Keep up the great videos.
Hello 🥰
Great episode, thanks!
You should have gotten the lighthouses too!
I figured the guy with the rings and civil war artifacts was a metal detectorist. I do that as well, but did it more in Germany.
Wow you scored some incredible finds. The art is unique. I think I heard her say they got it in Vietnam and the wormwood hand crafted frames in Mexico. I think you can set your price after a little research. Being Oriental, the paper the painting is done on is hand made also. I could not hear if she said when they got the paintings.
Those paintings are on Rice paper.
Crazy how many items that guy had from metal detecting.
8:05 great buy on the gas can!
The Hong Kong paintings are beautiful, but I think the frames, although they are incredible, are too heavy for the artwork.
Art is hard!
You are also learning about " Fitzs & Floyed " Ceramics
Why don’t you get a candy machine to put in the booth make more money
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do you guys ever come to Upstate Sc? It would be cool to bump into you guys at a Good Will one day!
9:23 you must buy the copper!
Please Don’t shine up the map tube. It would take 10 minutes to clean but the look you have now took 60 years.
Respectfully, regarding the baby shower gift, you will still get something, that’s actually for the baby? Seems like the notebooks are for the mom.
They were actually for gifts for the people attending- little door prizes for game winners lol 😂
@@beardedthriftmachine Oh good! I'm glad I was confused!
I assume you pay to have an EBay store. At what point did you decide to use the store service versus unpaid version?
We did it because we list a lot - we have the second to the lowest store
Art is long tail but good money
Really enjoy watching you two. Seeing Kayla grow in confidence has been great to see. Sometimes do get annoyed when you knock people's prices down when you know it's worth 10x more. I'd hate to see you guys turn into the commonwealth picker. Can't tolerate that guy. Anyways, happy shopping.
Did you end up getting any of those lighthouse pictures???
U should have bought the light house pictures. Im😢
