This album is about identity. The album name is blond(e). The feminine spelling of the word is ‘Blonde’ which reflects the tone of the first half of the album which is light, happily melodic and has imagery of summer. Then, in ‘Nights’ there is a beat switch which is exactly halfway in the album (at 30 minutes in the hour long project). This beat switch signifies the Volta in tone to the other (masculine) ‘Blond’ The feel is more brutal, delves into his character and is harsh in it’s realities and ideas. This duality in the album of both sides mirrors his sexuality, identity and mentality throughout.

Literally sob through this album everytime. This fkn album defined a period of my life where everything was bright and new and raw and as I was discovering myself I discovered how taxing life and love are. Those jubilant feelings we want so bad can turn sour and crumble everything in your life. There is nothing like a first love ending. It’s crazy. So many years later and this album is still as powerful as the day it came out. It’s an album unlike any other.

fun fact: the whole album is about duality and the album is split in two. The whole album is 1 hour long and the beat drop in "nights" marks exactly 30 minutes of the whole album which is the exact middle of the whole album! And the two halves are two different themes hence the duality.

Y’all should react to Endless next!!! It’s his most underrated project in my opinion. It was uploaded the same day as Blonde, except it was a visual release and not in traditional track list form😭💽 I feel like people pay it dust for that reason when it truly is a BEAUTIFUL album!
He intentionally made endless a worse album to reduce the sales his label would make

So many memories with this one! It came out the year I moved into my first apartment in college. My top 3 are Solo, Self Control, and Nights. My roommate and I used to sing, "Every night fucks every day up, every day patches the night up" when we would clean up the kitchen the morning after making an elaborate dinner.

i guess the name of the album being different on the cover also means blind, it's referenced on self control when he sings "you cut you hair but you used to live a blonded (blinded) life". He was inspired by a photo of a blonde boy he displays on his album magazine "boys don't cry" to represent the innocence of love especially when you put on the lens of a young person experiencing love in their youth. it's very well thought

I just realized my favorite song on the album 'IVY' ...frank is destroying or taking out his anger and hurt onto the instruments in the studio when the song ends. Hence the sob is about a break up.
