This is easily my favorite Kazuma moment so far. As much as he is a scumbag, he genuinely cares about his friends.
His biggest foil is that he does treat this life like an Isekai where usually nothing can go wrong for him no matter what he does. Unfortunately, he lives the parody of isekai.

They all have their own flaws, petty rivalry, small grudges, etc, etc but they’re still friends in the end.
That's why I like Kazuma tbh. He starts off as kind of a pathetic loser scumbag, and to be honest he is still kind of a scumbag, but deep beneath that is actually a very caring personality. Not in a token "Oh, he's actually such a noice goi!" kind of way a lot of other anime do, but in a genuine "When the chips are down, I will step up to the plate and ride or die for the people I care for" kind of way
@hfar_in_the_sky and probably some of it has to do with protecting himself. He can do stuff that annoys the girls and keep his feelings safe. But when the girls are actually sincere and nice, he gets flustered. Well, except for Aqua, she has been sincere and got crapped on by him.
Plus, he likes equality. This might be his way to keep the party together by not showing favorites.
It's fun to speculate. It has been a great season.
The fact that Kazuma can run carrying a tank like Darkness shows how secretly powerful Kazuma is.
He had a strength buff from aqua its been stated many times kazuma is average in everything but luck.
tbf it was always Darkness's armour that made her heavy and even then, he was able to carry her with one hand

If you watch the episode then Aqua mentioned about Axel's way of considering the marriage before they made it officially through papers. Basically that night, Kazuma became her husband, but he ran away before filling up the papers. That's recognised as a sign of divorce. Hence Divorceness!

The author of the source material stated that Megumin was the TRUE heroine but I refuse to think darkness isn't the mistress.
So for people wanting some context on how Kazuma gets payed back spoiler
The lord that Darkness owed money to was supposed to be the one paying for the damages to the land after the demon invasion not loaded onto Kazuma and company, but he made a contract with a absurdly powerful demon that can distort memories and conception. This demon was also the one that cursed Darkness Dad with a lethal curse. After the lord is eventually taken to hell by this demon to get tortured for all eternity everyone's memories return to normal with people realizing how absurd it is for the lord to dodge so many taxes and responsibilities and Kazuma is payed back for all the damages.

This season highlighted 2 things
Kazuma is actually pretty smart but is held back by his partys tomfoolery and his own incompetent personality which only creates more tomfoolery
