Those knives looked amazing. I love handmade stuff like that. I'm sure those chickens were more expensive because they're not mass-produced like conventional chickens. True free-range chickens are very expensive. Looked like a very cool place!
Jack, I live in northern Indiana amongst a large Amish population. You haven't had pie till you have a rhubarb custard or sugar cream pie baked by the Amish. My Grandmother was Mennonite and spoke Dutch fluently. I treasure all her old recipes. You need to get invited to an Amish barn raising, it's a feast beyond belief.
That is very cool. My grandmother used to have the Milkfarm that was in Scottsville Kentucky where you were at I am well familiar with the Amish out that way. I am glad to see that you and everyone that was with you had such a great time. And the Amish have so many things to offer.
Enjoyed this video, seeing some of the sights from my former home in Kentucky. I had 2 farms one near Scottsville and the other near Tompkinsville. The guy who made the knives was from Tomkinsvile. I wish ya had checked out some of the machinery. Gave ya a thumbs up!
I love auctions! I have attended well over 1000 auctions of all sorts in my life. In 1982 I attended and graduated from Nashville School of Auctioneering, but I have never done a whole lot with my training besides helping do some charity auctions and working as a ring man at a few small livestock auctions. Auctions can be addictive, so be careful!
Need to hit up the Amish market in Scottsville! It's crazy to see my hometown on RUclips!! There's almost Mennonite shops around Allen county too that sell really cool stuff!
This brings back memories. I used to live where Simpson, Allen and Warren counties all met up. Went to this auction a number of times. Makes me want to go back for a visit that 1st Saturday in April.
Being a city girl (toronto), I have never been to places like these. Looks so cool. The food and the prices are awesome. In Canada, califlower costs almost 4 bucks!
good day. watched the video, If you want to go to one, here in Ont. Millbank has a sale every year. Millbank is about 25 miles west of Kitchener Waterloo in July. thanks
Good day. I'm sorry for not getting back to you, lost reply, didn't know when sale, anyways. The amish auction is in Millbank area, it's second Saturday of July. sorry. Thanks
If you live in toronto theres a anual big amish sale like that ..near milverton ontario ..2 hour drive from Toronto..its on the way to stratford...# 19 hwy...look it up on google..enter amish school sale ...its huge and it has any thing. Under the sun for sale.....
I love the amish. That filet knife was very impressive. I would love that deer handle knife. Jack you didn't ad his youtube channel in the description. I was going to sub. blaming you :)
We have two of these every saturday in the spring here in Lancaster County, PA. They call them mud sales, because they have them rain or shine, and a lot of time it rains.
The Scottsville group are Old Order Mennonites, I use to live there in the community. There are some Amish further over near Tobacco Rd. Was you near Perry Town Rd.?
When I lived in Pennsylvania I used to go to this place in New Jersey and the Amish people made everything the one thing I can say is they're very talented they know how to make money they're not greedy and they stick together and break their ass...Some of the young ladies I would love to ask out but I know what the answer would be they stick with the wrong kind after watching some of the videos I don't understand how they can push away the own family... they seem like people from the 19 hundreds and they really don't want to change....I'm cool with them now that I'm in Florida that's one thing you don't see down here but when I go to Pennsylvania I check out the place that has and sells everything they sure know how to cook...Still want to date one...lol...😍😍😍😍
Don't apologize for the wind. The into music was really bad...lol Get a pie! lol 5 years later. Really I want to go their now... I need a road trip. the Amish are great with their animals. 5 years later. Those white chickens are cornish cross meat birds.
Thank you for making that clear I might not be Amish but I am hillbilly and that sell is like one of the biggest they have around it's nice to show other cultures
Shew fly pie is called that because it's so sweet you have to shew the flies off of it. A word to the wise, don't call an Amish woman mama if you ain't kin to her. It's disrespectful. I'm mountain blooded and would be offended if you called any of the women folk in my family mama. You have no right to assume that level of familiarity. Say Ma'am or Missus. It's a matter of respect and will carry you far in the great state of Kentucky.
@@kevintroyer551 i want to learn more of your ways of teachings and the skill teachings so that i can try to spread here in india and especially to youth

That is a true belief of the Amish about having their picture taken, however, it's more about making a graven image of themselves than capturing souls. The older, stricter Amish still shy from the cameras but the younger ones realize they are part of the tourism attraction and allow it. Even the Amish children that attend public schools get their picture taken for the yearbook.
west coast here, raised in the country side, and I can tell ya they raise animals in cages here. all the free range being spread from the west is bull.

Was just going to pass a comments about the small cages, then you mentioned it😁😁😁😁. Ready to freak my bean.😂😂😂been a vegetarian it's difficult for me when I see animals stressed out in the small cages.
even if its just for auction its still cruel to keep them so cramped like that for hours... And free range doesnt mean "outside" everyday. They have to be outside so many hours of their life to be classed as free range which isnt much. They are probably cramped when kept inside as they dont seem to care at the auction about them being cramped. Shame. And no im not hating lol.
My step grandfather was an auctioneer and farmer in Illinois. It is an amazing art to hear.
