Thank you so much for this tutorial. It's great, as short and simple as it can ever be for explanation of modding and perfectly understandsble even for a noob like me. I've been looking for a way to make a custom shelf with drinks and needed a way to make misc items (namely sujamma and flin bottles) static. I wanted to borrow such thing with permission from one of the modders, but DIY is always better once you know how to do it. Gonna dive into CK and try it now.
Thanks so much for this! I've started in the Fallout 4 CK and although the interface is slightly different I managed to make a bunch of stuff static with this tutorial.
Great Tutorial, couldn't of been explained simpler. i figured this out my self ages ago. another thing i like to do is turn static items into containers.
I've been watching your tutorials for a while and am currently working on a craftable SpellTomes including perks on the Enchanting Perk Tree and a new work bench, using old animation. Just wanted you to know that I appreciate it I'm just getting back into creation kit and you've been a lot of help thank you! ps: I have subscribed to most of your mods.
Yes lol, I like to do the same thing. Those containers for the East Empire make good containers so I used some for Millwater Retreat. Opens up a few possibilities,
I'm working on another big project but I tend to do most of my stuff myself as it's just the way I tend to do things. If I ever work on something with anyone it's usually something small or not too major. I've had people recommend I set a team up before and maybe I'll do it if Fallout 4 comes out. I don't think it's something worth starting now with Skyrim but maybe with the next big game to mod. I appreciate the idea, thanks.
Wonderful tutorials that are invaluable to us learning to mod. Will this process of making an item static also make that item solid. For instance that basket. Can it now act like a basket where you can drop solid objects in to it without those objects needing to be positioned so they don't leak through the object?
You are dealing with a whole different kettle of fish there. Things get much more complicated when you are dealing with your own races and NPCs. I don't mess with races too much at all and the one tutorial I did was very basic. I cam't help there as this tutorial is more for standard items which you place around your mod.
Thanks for your great tutorials. I used this one on my mod "Dovah Domis" player home for a few select items and it worked for everything except for some large antlers that I had placed on a tall bookshelf. Even though I configured it to not havok settle, every time I entered a door (not even near the antlers), they would still fall off the shelf. Any clues as to why that might happen? I tried the procedure 3 times with the same results. Thanks, Whitemorn :)
Question, I'm trying to do this method in the new creation kit for special edition, but the meshes folder doesn't seem to exist... I used this method a lot with the old version, but it doesn't seem to work anymore, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to do this exact thing but in the new game?
+AwesomeJanis There are items that are flagged as Movable Static. I'd say you actually do the same thing but that you use a Movable Static instead of a Static as your basic item.
Hello Darkf0x, do you have any upcomming mods btw? If you dont, why dont you just start a team and recruit the people you make tutorials for, myself I am pretty worthless at the moment, but I know some people who are good that watch your tutorials, have had pretty advanced help from 2 of them. I would love follow a sort of community project lol. :)
No one does CK tutorials better than you, thank you. I can't seem to use this method with the 3 new (dragonborn) masks though, they all 3 share the same world model (.nif): DLC02\Armor\AcolyteMasks\AcolyteMask_GND.nif DLC2ArmorAcolyteMaskShock (Zahkriisos, default color) DLC2ArmorAcolyteMaskFire (Ahzidal) DLC2ArmorAcolyteMaskFrost (Dukaan) How can I make the last two (Fire & Frost) static if they don't have different world models (.nifs)?
dude is there NOT a way to select multiple static or otherwise objects and edit multiple at once for say "enable Parent Whiterunbreezehome" markers? Every cup, every plate I have to individually enter the info. SO LAME.
This video and ur others have been a HUGE help to me. The kit used to be like a foreign language and u have been my rosetta stone. thanks so much

I feel so dumb when I can't figure something this easy out myself but thank you DarkFox for your awesome tutorials.

Thank's for the tutorial, was helpful. I was having a bunch of trouble with Havok items, and was getting rather frustrated with the creation kit.
AAH! I love you!
* If you don't have a Meshes folder in you'r Data-folder, just simply create one.
Thanks
This is awesome, thank you so much DF. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you're part of the team that developed Skyrim and Creation Kit.

Yes! It worked!! Thank you so much. Love your tutorials, I am going through them one by one.

If you are doing a lot of tiny objects it's easier to do the other way honestly, especially if you need to make 100+ items static/unmovable.
Wonderful tutorials that are invaluable to us learning to mod.

You glorious person = )
You are So Awesome at teaching!!!! Is there any way you can make a object a follower? In a tutorial...pleas
Great help. Thanks, DF!
Yeah, and its something that bethsda should of done. i know it was something i liked in Morrowind. Balmora i think it was, favorite city for looting.
hello darkfox127 thank you for another great tut I finally have items that are static :) yeah !!!!

What if I want to be able to pick up the object, but don't want it to be movable? (What I want: Can pick up with E, Can't move with E or bump)
+AwesomeJanis There are items that are flagged as Movable Static. I'd say you actually do the same thing but that you use a Movable Static instead of a Static as your basic item.
I can not find the script, it isn't in the list. How can I add it? TY!
Does that last option keep items in place if npcs walk into it?

hey, do you know how to make a weapon lootable? like, npcs use a costum sword?
No one does CK tutorials better than you, thank you.

can u make a static non static and have physics ?
Thanks.
okay so i figured out how to add items to the game through merchants thats a start.
cool :)
I don't have the meshes file
Came here after 11 years find reason why my broken bridge was floating in the water :D

Such is the way of the creation kit unfortunately.
actually during a video I did see a way to do it. Select all the items you want. Then hit the "-" minus key on your keyboard. BAM!
This man sounds lowkey like text to speech
