    We needed a Galaxie for some projects we have planned. We've had every Galaxie we tried to get in the shop fall through. In a Moment of frustration, we bought a Galaxie to do projects on...and then we fell in Love with it.
    1963 1/3 Galaxie 500 Fastback
    originally a 289 2V, 3 speed, 3.50 rear gear car, it now packs a 390 4V, 4 speed and tons of patina.
    Oh and a big ass hole in the passengers floorboard.

    Jeff You need to check out a fellow you tuber. His channel is called TheCraig909. He's a young kid in Ramona CA. He's got two Galaxie 500's. One is running but it's running really rough. It's got a 352 with an automatic trans. Right now it seems to have him stumped. Maybe you could help him.

    As of 10/1/2020 I have FOR SALE a 1963-1/2 Galaxie 500 390 (300 h. p.) 4-speed big in big out, "S" code, original paint, Marroon with black interior, bench seat, complete all chrome, glass, car is all still in one piece, no dents, has all of it's chrome, it's all in great shape, complete interior never removed. Fantastic project car as it is complete and never been taken apart. bumpers need rechromed but are straight. Steel dash, no crash pad, has original white headliner, 80,000 miles on odometer. Drum brakes on all four corners.
    Clean title. has not been driven since 1986 was stored indoors in a barn. I have original engine all intact except carb. on a stand, it was removed in 1985 for a hot rod 390.( that engine does not go with the car). Original engine goes with the car. This car wants to be a body off chassis restore. There is also some sort of factory mounted electronic box in the trunk above the right wheel housing for the radio that I was told does a reverb thing (I do not know what that means) supposedly a rare Galaxie option. Manual steering, manual brakes, of course 4-speed, am radio. I did wire the car for an alternator instead of a generator. It drove great back in 86' I use to have cast iron 427 headers on it (those do not go with the car either) there is custom bent exhaust on the car with a balancer pipe behind where the headers meet the exhaust flanges. The original engine has the original exhaust manifolds on it, car would need pipes bent to connect original manifolds to the exhaust system, the exhaust goes all the way back and dumps in the stock locations (right / left) under the rear bumper. All door key locks work, windows all roll up and down, both door latches work great.
    I had a dream for this car that is still in my mind but so is the reality that I can not dump (I figure $10,000 - $12,000) the money it needs into it to make it a $40 to $50,000 car like I see listed on e-bay.
    It is a heck of a great start for someone who truly understands what the potential this car has to be one of the better ones out there. Being an all steel car with no plastic parts to speak of makes it an awesome candidate for a project car. The car is currently located in Michigan just north of the Ohio line, I-75 to I-275 North. It was originally bought brand new at North Brothers Ford in Westland, Michigan. If interested, I guess contact me through REPLY if interested. I saved the 74 Manic Mechanic video to watch later so I can monitor REPLY . Thank you.

    OK. My story.
    My older friend ordered a new 63 fasttop bench seat car from Donges Bros. Ford, Tulsa. White, blue int., 390 Interceptor solid lifter 330 hp, T handle OD, 3.89 posi, delivered with a floor shift, smooth column, power, AC.
    I spent from 76 to 97 trying to buy it. 50,000 miles, impeccable showroom new car. One day I went to visit and headed directly to the garage to look at "my car". He had sold it to somebody in Iowa? for $5,000.
    I like the early box top better. 😱😱Sour grapes.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 года назад

      The market will not bear that out. Prices are high because the manufacturers have to recoup their tooling cost. A lot of the Mustang stuff that has durable tooling has dropped in price some due to tons of people making parts for the cars.

It had a blown engine but the rest of it was eat off of it great shape. They wanted $500 bucks for it... the guy came down to $400...my friend wanted it for $300..guy wasn't going there. My friend let that car go over $100...and to this day I don't let him live it down. That's just the way he was/is...a tight wad ...he squeaks when he walks.

    Yeee Hawww '63½ Fastback! No doubt my favorite "big Ford".
    There is a conflict though, I've owned two '64 Fastbacks. First started out just like your '63½, 289 & three on tree, within six months it was sportin' a complete 390 drivetrain from a T-Boned '64 with around 30K mi(mine had approx 80K). Yes it was three speed as well, but within maybe a year I found a BW T-10 from another '64. It ran good, had a set of 406 cast iron shorty exhaust headers, otherwise was a stock Z motor. For awhile I owned a second almost identical '64(both Vintage Burgundy), 390 but automatic. It was a dog, never bonded, sent it away and went back to driving the first '64. I'd repl'd it's front clip, as one dark night it tore the frontend out from under a International moving van. I was mindin' my business, he was parked in roadway on 45* with cab blocking my travel lane. My RF caught his LF wheel, repositioned front axle till it was at a 90* to front of cab. Needles to say, neither of us drove away. Once I cut the fan belt off mine was drivable, at least for short distance.

      Awesome story! I Love hearing about our cars past. I look at this Galaxie, the F100 and our other cars and just wish I could look into the past and see what they did and what they went through.

    • @tombryant1104
      @tombryant1104 4 года назад

      I sold my '64 to the ex wife's dad, he had it painted red & used it to tow a trailer full of exterminating equipment, incl a 100 gal tank. Parked it at around 250K mi total(or 200K on the 390 drivetrain). Set in his backyard several months till a kid came along and wanted it for a Hot Rod. Enticed by those 406 shorties, thought it had a Hi Po. Fresh battery, carb primed, fired without issue, he drove it away.
      Kinda straying, I've talked with first owner(I'm 2nd) of my '69 Fastback so I know it's history. My Fairlane has orig window sticker and several service records. I know where it lived from '69 till '93. After 19 yr silence or at least minimal usage(gained 16K mi) resurfaced in '12. Again from that point, I have service records, parts bought etc. Sometime in late in unaccounted period it was repainted, brakes rebuilt, radiator, hoses etc repl.
