As a 50 yr old, thank you for listening to, and giving your opinion on all kinds of older music. It goes to show that with an open mind music can be multi-generational and multi-racial. Please keep up the good work.
I'm 47, white, and I just heard MC Shan's "The Bridge" for the first time. The door to the mind opens both ways. Give it a try with lyrics OR instrumental.
The amazing voice of Steve Perry and one the guitar greats in rock Neil Schon! "Be Good to Youself", "Don't Stop Believin'", "Ask the Lonely", "Only the Young", "Separate Ways", "Lights", "Open Arms", "Who's Crying Now." One of those groups that even if you're not a Journey fan, you already know a lot of their songs.
Absolutely love Journey, brings back memories of my childhood. They were never quite the same after lead sing Steve Perry decided he to leave the band because he had had enough of touring and had a family. The band got a new singer but Steve's voice is so iconic the band was never really the same.
Journey is my favorite group of all 'time. The first time I heard Steve Perry's vocals I was hooked. React to Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' . I think youll like the blues influence.
Yay!!! You've finally started your Journey journey!!! Keep it up cuz they're awesome!!! "Faithfully"..."Who's Crying Now"..."Open Arms"..."Separate Way"... "Lights"..."Stone In Love"..."Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" and of course "Don t Stop Believing"!!! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day my friend!!! 😊😊😊😊 🐧🐧🐧🐧
Glad you are reacting to Journey and Steve Perry. His voice is amazing. I also recommend "Lights" (about their hometown of San Francisco), "Open Arms" (their highest charting song at No. 2), and probably their most famous song "Don't Stop Believin' " (No. 9).
The song is about constant touring. The “wheel in the sky” is a plane. As opposed to a tour bus. Being away from family and loved ones for sometimes a year or more while you’re on the “road”. Not even knowing where you are or where you’re going. I remember hearing an anecdote from a member of the Eagles, two of them were arguing. One saying they were in this city, the other saying that city. When they finally asked they were both wrong.
Wheel in the sky is a war song about a soldier who wants to get home and the wheel is the helicopter blades that keep bringing them into battle that's my take yours is good also dont think I'm ever gonna make it home again makes me think it's a soldier not a musician
Steve Perry the gift of a golden voice. Niel Schon a great guitarist. Still want you to listen to and view video of Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. Good observations.
YEsssssss I had asked you do to a couple of different Journey songs on your other post..sooo happy you are doing this one though! Still recommend you react to Journey: Only the Young, Someday Soon (please please), and really any other ones off of Time 3 ..thanks Joey :)
“Only The Young” is beautiful. I heard it through theatre speakers for the first time in 1985. The “Vision Quest” soundtrack is really good if you can find it. Great pick!
Way back when I was a freshman in college, Steve Perry, the lead singer of Journey, came to my hometown on tour over Thanksgiving weekend (he had already left the band at that point). I took my mother to see him in concert, and the live concert was one of the best I've ever been to. He gave a radio interview that weekend to one of our local radio stations, and he said that this was his favorite song that he's recorded because, for him, it's about life on the road touring as a musician. I've also seen Journey perform with their new lead singer, Arnel Pineda, and there is just so much power and energy in their music. Well worth seeing in person.
Great band. I first heard them in ‘77 when I was in high school. Steve Perry has been the singer in the song track of my life. Amazing voice. Thanks for playing them
You gotta do Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'!! The bassline is amazing. One of the most fun, memorable ones in rock. Like Queen's Another One Bites The Dust. That level of cool.
Perfect song from Journey, great one Joey. "Feeling That Way/Anytime", "Winds of March", and "Patiently" are also great songs from the same Journey LP "Infinity".
Yes, pre-Escape Journey is completely different and very good. I'm a huge Journey fan who had my entire room plastered with their posters, had ever album they ever put out. Even before Steve Perry.
Keep goin on that Journey Train Joey, their songs were pretty romantic, deep thoughts about life in general. I think you'll dig them more and more each time.
Joey Da Prince good job, back in the mid 80's Randy Jackson from American Idol played the bass for Journey. I saw Journey in 1986 in Memphis and Randy Jackson was the bass player then
Yep. I’ve heard this song a million times and it wasn’t til sometime last year I had RUclips on playing Wheel in the Sky, a performance version. I was brushing my teeth when I heard this lovely high note and thought, “Wait a minute? Is that Steve?!” Ran to grab my phone and replay. Yep. Sure enough. That was Steve. Holy crap! I always that was just another guitar coming in behind Neil. Wow!! Steve’s not called the Voice for nothing. 💜 AMAZING!!
Wheel in the Sky is the wheels of a touring bus. "I Don't Know Where I'll Be Tomorrow (touring from city to city). And Faithfully is bout them being gone so long on tour and when they get back they feel like a stranger and gets to know them again.
I saw your Queen reactions and I was going to suggest Journey with Steve Perry. Loved both bands as a teen. I’m really glad to see young people but especially young black people listening to rock bands from my teenage years. This is the music that I listened to growing up. Try some of Journey’s(with Steve Perry) live performances. They are amazing! Steve Perry has an amazing voice.
Hey Joey another great react. So another great song by Journey is "Lights" , Steve Perry huts some crazy notes in this and Neal Schoen does his magic riffs on his guitar.
Love me some Classic Journey!!! I've been a fan since 1978!!!! If you're looking for some great classic Journey, check out......Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', Lights, Stay Awhile, Winds Of March, Good Mornin' Girl, Any Way You Want It, Escape, Still They Ride, Message Of Love, Still She Cries, Mother Father, Patiently, Just The Same Way, Send Her My Love!!! And the list can go on and on............. The lead singer is Steve 'The Voice' Perry!!! (side note, Steve hasn't been in Journey for in years!)
I was hoping that you would react to Journey songs! Some other songs to check out from them: Open Arms, Separate Ways, Faithfully, Girl Can't Help It, Lights
Love the reaction videos! Awesome way to find awesome music. One of my favorite artists has always been Thomas Dolby. His style is Synth-pop, and I think one of his best was 'One of Our Submarines'. One of his uncles was in the British submarine force during WWII, and he wrote it as a tribute to him. I would really like to hear what you think of it.
This guy didn't catch that... 3:24 Steve start singing with the instruments it's hard to tell but that's his voice not many people can do that. It's subtle. It's perfect.
I love songs that change it up all of a sudden to keep you from zoning out. Especially good for keeping stoners awake! The artists back then didn't want to waste their talent on a half asleep semi conscious audience. LOL
Fun fact: When I was in college, I used to get stoned, put in my headphones and go on "Journeys with Journey." Usually they ended up at Dunkin Donuts....
. Joey, sweet, sweet Joey. Loving what you're doing with Journey. Steve Perry. Can I tell a little story? I'm 21, working on TV, obviously lived in So Cal. It was the days of partying all the time. Tony Reuter journey is timeless
So funny I'm 53 sitting here watching having the exact same thought .actually warms my heart to see these young guys get it.maybe there is hope yet.
I'm 47, white, and I just heard MC Shan's "The Bridge" for the first time. The door to the mind opens both ways. Give it a try with lyrics OR instrumental.
Steve Perry’s VOICE!!! Perfection...❤️
That was the first song they put on the radio from Journey....we where all hooked!!!
Love this song. Separate Ways is another good Journey song.

He needed a break. They worked him harder than most singers. But he ended up having a solo career.
Journey is my favorite group of all 'time. The first time I heard Steve Perry's vocals I was hooked. React to Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' . I think youll like the blues influence.
He is The Voice
Another Journey song you should do is separate ways and don’t stop believing
Faithfully is my favorite song by Journey.
Named my dog Journey Faith for that reason
That's a stupid name
Thank you I knew there was one I was forgetting.. loving touching squeezing! Very underrated!
Peggy Penguin The first 2 Journey Albums ( Evolution & Infinity) their best work. All albums after that was Kiddie PoP Rock.
@@scottdetter to be honest it's all bubblegum but good memories
Love Journey! I’m 62 and saw them twice back in the day. The first time they opened for Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Two great bands!

Eddie Marquez u ain’t never lie lol 💯💯💯
Love this classic. Steve Perry has a great voice , and Journey has some great songs. Hope you do some more reactions to them.
I believe the wheel is nothing more than the earth revolving around the sun, as the song talks about the change of seasons/passage of time.
Steve Perry the gift of a golden voice. Niel Schon a great guitarist. Still want you to listen to and view video of Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. Good observations.
Yes at 3:25, that is Steve Perry's voice!
Thank you for reacting to Journey!!!
Journey is great - sigh- Perry's voice!
Steve Perry,a most unique voice in rock
YEsssssss I had asked you do to a couple of different Journey songs on your other post..sooo happy you are doing this one though!

“Only The Young” is beautiful. I heard it through theatre speakers for the first time in 1985. The “Vision Quest” soundtrack is really good if you can find it. Great pick!
Thank you for doing this. My FAVOURITE Journey song is Faithfully. So I'd say "Faithfully", "Don't Stop Believein'" and "Who's Cryin' Now".
Way back when I was a freshman in college, Steve Perry, the lead singer of Journey, came to my hometown on tour over Thanksgiving weekend (he had already left the band at that point). Yes! All three songs are wonderful.
Yes, pre-Escape Journey is completely different and very good. I'm a huge Journey fan who had my entire room plastered with their posters, had ever album they ever put out. Even before Steve Perry.

Journey--Send Her My Love or Who's Crying Now.
at 3:26 he hit a whistle note
11 second high note
@@user-ju8xo2ds5s Dogs heard that 4 blocks away and were howling!
I don’t think it’s technically a whistle note, but it’s no less impressive.
Yep. I’ve heard this song a million times and it wasn’t til sometime last year I had RUclips on playing Wheel in the Sky, a performance version. 'Try & Keep It Simple'.....is another great Journey song......that really showcases their ability to harmonize.
Do you you mean Sweet and Simple from the Evolution LP?
Wheel in the Sky is the wheels of a touring bus. "I Don't Know Where I'll Be Tomorrow (touring from city to city). And Faithfully is bout them being gone so long on tour and when they get back they feel like a stranger and gets to know them again.
Fell in love with my wife with this song on heavy radio rotation. Maybe 1980.

Very well commented. I Love Queen with Freddie Mercury and Journey with Steve Perry.
Hey Joey another great react. So another great song by Journey is "Lights" , Steve Perry huts some crazy notes in this and Neal Schoen does his magic riffs on his guitar.
You should check out the song escape live from Houston 1981
During the guitar solo, Steve Perry hits a high note and holds it forever
Every time Journey comes on the radio my hand reaches to turn the volume up.

This song was dedicated to Lynard Skynard when the lead singer died in an airplane crash
You should try some Def Leppard. They are another English Rock band.
