This song would have only worked if they won in the end
The good guys didn't really win in Ragnarok either except in the sense that they (or some of them at least) survived. There's a strong strain in Norse culture (as in Japanese) that it's less about winning and more about how you act against the foe no matter the odds. You see this in Endgame before the reinforcements arrive. Thor is down, Iron Man is down and it's just Cap with half a shield against Thanos and all his forces but he doesn't flinch.
Honestly the co trast would have made Thor's arrogance in not killing Thanos all themore heartbreaking after he realizes he's the cause of half of the universe dying

I've always thought this scene would have been way more awesome with Immigrant Song. This scene isn't about the Avengers! It's about Thor!

I can't even imagine how hyped people would get if this song was in the movie when he entered.
I was humming this song throughout this entire fight scene. Really wish Marvel and Led Zeppelin could have worked together to the song into this movie as well. Just think of the pop it would have gotten from fans who heard it in Thor: Ragnarok.
This is the closest HD version so far (there’s one cam version that got it right). Everyone else starts the verse too early, this one however he catches Stormbreaker EXACTLY as the downbeat of the verse’s intro kicks in.
Downside: However, without mentioning the filtering, eq, and gate that Banner’s dialogue so desperately needs in order to rid the original soundtrack/Avengers Theme, the cutting of the song structure here is NOT correct. I understand it was to “fast forward” the track a bit so he lands on the downbeat of 2nd verse’s intro, but you can’t alter the structural form of a song that way and expect people to not be jarred by it abruptly changing even if you land on the next beat of the same number in a different bar, especially when it’s that obvious. Also, something in the video needs to be cut so Thor’s “Bring Me Thanos!!!” happens before the verse line “welcome to the land...” happens so they’re not overlapping.
I’d say about 90% of the work is almost perfect here, just needs the final touches. Much much further along and closer than any of the other HD versions posted
Idea: Try to have him land on the downbeat of the word “welcome” rather than forcing the 2nd verse and see what you think...

Finally watching IW on Netflix but had to come watch this for the Thor entrance. Doesn't feel right without Led Zep.
They literally had to dumb down Thor (make him go for the chest instead of Thanos' head) or My Boi the God of Goddamned Thunder would have one-shotted the wrinkled purple ballsack and be rocking a sweet new golden glove and the Infinity Stones along with his cool new axe.
Assuming the blow to the chest was intentional, I think it made sense for his character. Thor is naturally prideful and probably thought he could get away with making Thanos suffer for killing his people and brother before ending him, although I think a better option for the scene would have been him chopping off Thanos' hand with the Gauntlet on and maybe have the twist be that it was another illusion from the Reality Stone before Thanos does the snap. Plus it would have been kind of anticlimactic, Thanos was built up since the first Avengers so I think he warranted being the villain of two movies (if only Endgame didn't kill him at the beginning and gave us a different one from another timeline).

Marvel should've used every Avenger's theme song in their best moments.
The music choice in the film tells a story.
In Infinity War, everyone gets their own theme during their scenes until they meet up with Captain America, then they get The Avengers Theme.
Because Cap is the heart of The Avengers, and his arc is about how he inspires those around him, how he makes them better people. You're not truly an Avenger, until you start working with Cap.
It's a wonderful, subtle piece of storytelling.
