5.7x28mm is now available in factory loaded ammunition from Hornady! Initial offerings include a 40 gr. FTX bullet in Critical Defense and a 40 gr. V-MAX in Hornady BLACK.
If these are officially licensed by FN are you under obligation to withhold velocity potential on your loads like all commercial 40gr loadings have? How can reviewers request some of this for T&E?
I only trust Buffman Range here on RUclips for anything 5.7 related. Until he’s gone through it and tested them for us, I’m going to sit it out. It is great to see Hornady finally getting in on the 5.7 game though! I trust Hornady with the majority of my ammunition needs, so I hope these live up to expectations!
PLEASE don't neuter this round down to 1700-1800fps (or 2050fps from 10.5")!! A commercial round that does 1900-1950 from a pistol and 2300 from 10.5" would be VERY popular.
To echo what others have said. Get some of these over to the guy we all go to for info on the 5.7x28, Buffman Range before anyone else. If it performs well, costs $29.99 a box and you keep vendors stocked you will have lightning in a bottle.
What is the average sectional area of a wound track in calibrated ordinance gel? Is the average penetration at least 14 inches in the same testing medium? How about ballistic coefficient, and velocity out of a 5, 10.5, and 16in barrel? 5.7 is a very difficult cartridge to get right, and considering these aren't copper solids, the performance of these rounds is dubious at best, unless we get some numbers.
Will you guys be making an aluminum core version of this? I loved the FN aluminum core ammo mostly because of how incredibly lightweight it was, but now it’s very hard to find.
Yes, but when the main platform is a 50 round magazine, it's quite inconvenient. Just like making 20 round boxes of 223/556 when you know the average magazine size is 30.
Is this another watered-down variant of the 5.7 chambering? If so, then just stop now. We want properly loaded cartridges, why is that so hard to comprehend?
Send some to the King of 5.7 Testing, BUFFMAN RANGE
Yes!
Yes please... Some of both.
I second this!
please do
Absolutely. I messaged him and he doesn't have any yet. Hornady should be ashamed.

I tagged them with this video on Twitter and linked your RUclips channel with a request.
I think you have a grammatical or spelling error in there that makes your statement confusing.
@@thelittledetailscr7231phone spellcheck is fun isn’t it.
Let's start a rumor that it will be travelling at 1975 fps out of the muzzle!!!
@@ShastaBean wouldn’t that be nice
Send it out to Buffman Range, if it’s good, it’ll sell like projectfarm reviewed it.
Can't trust ammo till Buffman Range gets his hands on it.

Don't get your hopes up.
Until Buffman tests this, I don’t trust it 🤷🏿♂️
Yeah, I have a feeling FPS is only going to be 1600 ish 😢

Four months later we still haven't seen the product.

I hope it at least goes above 1900fps out of a 5" barrel.
Us: Hey, FN can we get some more loads and ammo availability?
FN: No.
Hornady: Fine...I'll do it myself.
That's not how it works.
How does it work i would like to learn. Thankyou@@VeganHippy70
need buffman approval
I’m glad more manufacturers are jumping on 5.7. Hopefully we’ll get some better pricing if it becomes more popular.
Shame it likely will not defeat IIIA body armor. It can be done fairly reliably without any non-ATF approved materials so long as it is loaded with a
I don’t need it to.
@@TheRealGYKGood thing it’s not call “The Bill of Needs” but instead it’s The Bill of _Rights_
It depends how fast they have loaded it.
I said I’m not considering a 5.7x28 pistol since hornady doesn’t make ammo for it…now I have to consider it
Will you be offering the FTX bullets as components?
you can tell this guy hasn't taken a low light tactics course
Subsonic 5.7 next please!
Please don’t be neutered

This sounds interesting.

Did you see FN has 5 different loads for this?
Comes in 25 round boxes. *facepalm*
Like nearly all Hornady defensive pistol ammo.

@@SevenStarTactical In terms of sheer numbers, the “main platform” of 5.7x28 guns out there have 20ish round magazines.

Yeah none of them care cuz they know they're gonna sell enough to dimwits to justify the manufacturing
Im sure this ammo fps will be 1600 just like everything else lol 25 rounds a box for 33 clams? FOH!!!!
The trigger discipline at 0:47 should be bad enough to pull this video down. Hornady should be better than that.
While searching for a bad guy at the high ready? Should he also have his safety on?
Should definitely not have a safety on. That comes off at draw.
