What I like about the name Forestall is it implies that it isn't a magic bullet that shields the user; it will delay a monster, make it hesitant or dissuade them allowing the human travelers to take appropriate action but if a monster is motivated enough fear or anger they will power through it so the humans need to be respectful as they travel as to not interrogate or provoke.
I interpreted it a bit different, in that scenario the rat was not scared away by the high frequency noise of the forestall because it was not an animal tracked in that region. So the hunters tried to shoot it with a shotgun to scare it in time to change the forestall to a different region with that particular animal. However the rat was not scared by the shotgun because it was angry and killed the hunters
You should totally do a diorama of a market where they sell monster parts!! You'd be able to do so many figures with fun stories and I'd love to see it added to the universe
The giant opossum isn’t a monster, he’s just misunderstood. He’s all hiss and no bite. He’s just a (not so) lil guy. He’s actually very cute and eats pests (and like maybe a person or two, but what’s one or two people, right?)
What do you call a possum who comes back for a second helping of chowder? “More-soupial” 😂😂. Boylei, turning your world into a game is the coolest thing I can think of, and I can’t wait for your Wild Imaginary West RPG Kickstarter to begin!!
My colleagues got me into tabletop RPGs (one them is a real old school DnD fan, been playing since it first came out) and I've put them onto your channel, the old dude especially loves these since he's been making dioramas since he was a kid. We're all very excited for the release of the Wild Imaginary West RPG.
Ah, yes, back when Tactical Studies Rules was still the publisher. Best version of the game IMHO is 2nd Edition AD&D. Everything WotC touches turns to shite.
Your storytelling is one of the key elements to your work, and I love how fleshed out it all seems to be. Definitely seeing an imaginary wild west movie on the horizon, fingers crossed! God bless, man!
I’ve been watching your channel for so long and remember stumbling into it. I’m a nerdy kid, I make dioramas build models play dnd and war hammer, and you’re one of my biggest inspirations for my hobbies! I’m super stoked for the new game! :)
8:00 Reason you can’t prepaint the sides is, because you need to end the video with „and the last thing to do, is to paint the sides with Black 4.0 and then I called it good!“ loving it every time!
Hahahah "Who's your favourite possum?" killed me xD Awesome world. Cool build. Amazing that you're creating a game out of the world you constructed via your models.
I used to watch you a lot more way back when the wild west stuff first started ad just a fun little project and coming back now to see your turning it into a game is just so amazing man, great job you creative legend
Loved your “Lester’s Possum Park” reference!! 🤣🤣🤣 Another awesome diorama! Thanks for continuing to make this hobby an art form. I enjoy watching your videos every week, and I’m looking forward to the release of your RPG!
Amazing work! The idea, the basic's, the Figures, the painting, the details, finally the result! Just WOW! Like it so much! Thank's for sharing this 😍👍👍🤝
I've been toying with the idea of creating WIW game using other rulesets for some time. Now I can skip all that and just go to Kickstarter! I hope this game becomes a big hit!
I would love to be able to purchase a book on the lore of Wild Imaginary West, wait all week for the next video, never fails to entertain, thank you Boylei
The North American Opossum is pure nightmare fuel at normal size, looking like H.P. Lovecraft's idea of a mouse, but this abomination would definitely make me rethink the life decisions that brought me into this situation.
One thing I noticed is that it seems like we haven't seen mechs or mules in awhile, it would pretty neat to see them used in some sort of "strategy" against monsters
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now It’s awesome how much the imaginary west has grown so much you’re dioramas are awesome keep up with the good work dude
That was another awesome video I know I signed up for the kickstart so I can’t wait to be able to play the wild imaginary west it seems so awesome it has come a long way
Possums are super cool and one of my favorite critters, I call them Grinners, and that one is one of the very coolest I've ever seen. Great Job my friend. 👍👍👍
I hope the rule book uses your dioramas, they'll make for some great inspiration for cool table set ups. Hell, if we're really lucky that will encourage a shift from just 40k and D&D boards from the wargaming/RPG table building videos.
I always look forward to your videos, Boylei - especially when your signature, Wild Imaginary West is the topic! I wish you the best with your project to bring the WIW to us. Though I'm not a gamer, I do like building models, and I'm looking forward to when figures and mechs become available in kit form! Thanks for sharing your skills, techniques, and imagination with us! 179th Like
Great work! If I can make a recommendation, when you have models like these where the clear resin meets the end of the base/stage (like the water), soften the edge so it is slightly rounded, that way it isn't sharply reflecting/refracting light and you can also get rid of any small chips/imperfections. Just brushing that edge with some high-density sandpaper and a gloss varnish (or even just the ripple medium) to bring back the clarity should do the trick. It'll help the water flow into the background better since it's there won't be so many highlights at the edge. Also, because of the viscosity of the resin, it's always higher around the edges than it is in the center, so you want to mitigate that as much as you can.
Welp, now i have a new thing I want to do in life. Thank you for making entertaining and inspiring videos! I would love to see you do a steampunk airship, maybe some sky pirates on a raid.
This is awesome! Makes me wonder if you'd have historical figures like Theodore Roosevelt in this universe. Especially since Roosevelt was a cattle rancher in Dakota during the 1880s!
This is a cool build with a lot of lore about the technology! I would love to see some type of stealth trapper or scientist that looks almost like an old fashion protogen (android furry) so the person can get closer to the animals without them attacking.
That's an excellent swamp diorama, and I also really like that possum model. He would be perfect as a rat-monster, either for my Skaven or as a big wererat.
I like the idea of the Forestall, that the settings may ward one thing off or a selection of things regionally. However, a long with certain regions not being in a listing. It could act as an attractant for certain things from other farther afield regions. Say you're a Southeastern more Bayou country accustomed and you take a long hour Forestall that is turned for certain snakes, gators and critters there. But, out west where Bison and Elk are, the lower tone sweeps could attract those like a rival challenger to get the attracted beast already aggressive when it shows up expecting a fight and people do what people will do.
Given that a normal opossum's entire battle plan is to hiss and play dead, I like to imagine the only thing being giant gives them is a bonus to intimidate checks and makes carrying all those babies easier
I imagine an rp session between two players after the GM sent a private note to one of them that they were hearing strange noises but the other one did not since they didn't roll high enough. "I swear I heard something Jimmi." "You're hearing things Hank, now stop making noise. Those fat duckies should pass over us soon." "But I did hear something." "Hosh darn it Hank, stop being so paranoid, our Forstal is keeping all them nasty critters away!" "But it could be a Stray or a Migrater Jimmi!" "Oh please, what kind of beastie would that be?" "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (Angry hungry giant possum noises) "I TOLD YOU JIMMI!" "SHUT YER YAP AND SHOOT!"
I would like to see a forestall shop please...as well as a deeper look into them expanding on what was already told in this video. It would be nice to know who and the how of coming up with the forestall
Are there any civilized or human-acclimated monsters? Would love to know if some people have some sort of domesticated monsters or how else it affects societies!

This whole time I thought it was pronounced "Force-doll."

Really good idea actually 👌
This would be so cool as an addon to the town builds
Day 1 of asking for a Giant Toad Monster in a misty bog diorama.
I second this motion
im hopping in it too!
That’s such a good idea! That as his fantasy worlds would be be amazing!

it would be very nice to see you working on a snowy landscape with a yeti

Already did something similar!
Yeti aren't very Imaginary Wild West, though. Maybe a mountain goat-based critter similar to the Bison Shepherds?
@@kenshiro7293 Some kind of winter adventure in the Sierra Nevadas though. Cave bear perhaps awoken from hibernation.
@@Blitz9H hell yeah
I’m REALLY GLAD the opossums in my neck of the woods aren’t this big!

Goofy Movie reference. A man of culture I see. I 100% read it in the voice.

Another fun potential edition to the wild wild west universe could be adding a Glyptodont style creature as an armadillo.
