A thing that helped me was to not overthink it. I’m making both art and music and I found myself dropping projects at the slightest frustration and impulsive ly beginning new ones. When you just let the ideas come to you and stop trying to be too specific with what your making, it can really help you see more possibilities for you to go w/ your craft. It’s not always gonna be perfect on your first try, but it’s better to have something you learn to appreciate over time to see how far you’ve come
You are helping with your tips dude thank you . I was feeling a week ago around one project like "lazy" and stressed but now i decide take a break and i will come back to work
Hey man! I just wanted to say that i really enjoy your videos that you have recently been uploading. Your videos used to take a much longer time to produce. Now with the off-record format you're managing to bring great content out there sooner. I feel that these videos are more natural and casual. Also, i love the little animated intros that you started to make for each video! You're a really funny guy with a lot of great insight and i am learning a lot from your videos. Thank you so much!
I haven't drawn anything for a month or did any animation two years after finishing university. There are ideas of what I want to draw and animated but worried I don't have the skills, knowledge or qualification to do things like the sky being fractals, which could need extensive study to understand or conceive an ideal JRPG party but feel it might look silly if I have no theme or existing materials to allude to and not just the things that inspire me but the things that inspired them.
Well every good artist started from bad and weird looking art and that's completely fine. I'm sure that if you continue doing art and exploring shapes, colors and everything you'll see the improvement and that, that's the best thing about art.
other more or less related stuff that helped me: -give yourself concrete goals, like aa: i wanna get better at fight poses so I'll draw 5 min sketches from mma matches - break down stuff u like (i like to break down emotions n how they unfold w different personalities) -actually, make moodboards, either for future projects or I'm making one about how to draw/animate water -have a sketchbook, no not an artbook with finnished fancy ass stuff, a sketchbook for practise n planning -write up the dates for the next month for example and write every day how many pages (i do spreads but that can sound a lot) have u finnished. and you don't wanna see a 0 do you, -when you try to sweettalk yourself into doing something aim for 5 min, if you'll do more( which is pretty likely given that starting things is the hardest) its awesome, but if you only do 5 min you still did something -have that bastard everywhere, and cheat yourself into creating: -like watch a moovie/part from whatever series/ sport stuff but you have to draw idk 4 spreads of poses -travel w it, draw ppl, or draw the likeinterior place (I'm pretty decent at having nice lines on busses n stuff cuy i copied homework on it throughout my whole highschool carrier xD) - just sleep making intentionally bad stuff can help or trying new techniques but those make me super anxious good luck y'all -
This really help. I have been suffering a severe art block for the past months since April. I literally didn't draw anything for months. I just read books and play games, but I never gotten the urge to draw even though my tablet and ipad are there in front of him. My diagnosis with depression didn't help either. It's only until a few weeks ago where I draw all of the sudden, but I regret wasting my time and not improving my animation my teacher instructed me to do because I literally felt tired all the time. Your video really help me on this, and I like your tutorial videos.
i’ve literally been binging all your videos for the past week and your work has been super super inspiring to me!! i just love your art. i’ve already had a passion for storyboarding and animation, and coming across your channel last week really gave me that good push to practice even more. i’ve been feeling in a little bit of a slump lately too, so this video was super helpful! thank you ❤️
Thank you for the amazing video! I feel like #4 is an odd one from me. You mention that the anxiety and pressure comes from the polish, but I feel I'm the opposite and that is where I feel the most energized, driven, and relaxed. The anxiety for me (and probably where my art block stems from) is that I feel so uncomfortable doing poses and making just the general composition choices that start a piece off. No amount of practice has helped really as when I go through references and stuff, I just worry about whether or not I'm doing the best pose/angle/emotion to convey this. It's stopped me a lot of times from even starting to put pen to paper (eeeerr tablet). Once I get past that with inking, coloring, polishing, is where I have my fun
thank you for the video , yesterday i just got your course ( The Complete Introduction to 2D Animation) i am looking forward to starting it , a bit intimidated but i am ready for it , thank you
7:05 I gotta know how to do that You know, when somone goes past an animated character and it looks natural I want to know how to do THAT part (I don't think its in his after effects tutorial
It's not difficult to achieve by using Mask tool in AE. Mask Feather tool can make a mask more smooth thus appealing more natural. I think You can find a lot of tutorials on it.
When I run out of ideas I make collage art for fun to generate ideas for fun In collage art process I like to juxtapose and contrast materials and images a lot. But also shape language helps with doing research stuff
I’m personally dealing with Art Block right now and I already posted and discontinued my ongoing animation because of it, this really gives me a bit of motivation I hope I can get better at this starting tomorrow. Thank you
I've been on burn out mode for at least a few months to a year. Working two jobs and general adulting leaves me feeling just tired and mind blank once I am able to sit down and draw. I want to draw nice things but my brain is like nope! I don't know how people in a similar situation can complete stellar pieces of art within a day or so.
Thank you for putting such hard work! I hope this video helps me too! I wanted to ask you, how are you dealing with everything that is happening right now? I know that theres no excuse but I seriously cant find a reason to animate as I used to some months ago.... all I do, all I create is so pointless compared to everything that is happening outside 😔
I have the opposite, I have art diarrhea. I always have scenes, story ideas, movie ideas, concepts filling my brain, filling pages of art, modelling stuff in Blender, crating music, sound effects. I want to create everything but I'm only one person. So it comes down to witting them down to 1 focused idea.
I go through really really long phases of art block, like for months on end, and sometimes I wonder if I'm just not creative enough and not good enough as an artist.
Tbh i dont have a art block... i have a coding block, thanks to that i made the largest amount of progress of my arts skills in my entire life. still better in coding though...
Have you ever has a person who just can't stop drawing, or become stressed out with life his he doesn't at least do a few hours of drawing everyday? Because I have this exact problem, and as much as I love art and is a big help for me, I don't like that I have trouble dealing doing without it.
The music is kinda distracting, it undermines the dialogue. You should invest in a better mic honestly, maybe I'm just spoiled since I listen to asmr and podcasts a lot. But the audio quality doesn't undermine the golden nuggets you shared here 👍

Omg Katie!!!! Two of my favorite artists being friends 😍😍😍
I'm excited that's very good advice for young artists like me about my drawing especially art block
If only I had this video when I was much newer to art.

11/10 tier animation at the start, I love this channel.

15 seconds in and my heart is hurting so much. I even just reacted and yelled "Noooo!!"

still better in coding though...
It's not that I have writer's block. It's more like "scared to fail what my hands can't draw" type thing :/ this still helped thou.
It would be great if you make a video on how you animate on adobe animate. I’m having a bit of trouble using that software.
The Ki is strong with this intro.
Have you ever has a person who just can't stop drawing, or become stressed out with life his he doesn't at least do a few hours of drawing everyday? Because I have this exact problem, and as much as I love art and is a big help for me, I don't like that I have trouble dealing doing without it.
An epic battle with.......an art block :p

HELLO GORDON
ill be honest, i got rid of artblock by watching this. i now know what to do with my penguin!
question: what book/s do you use to study anatomy?
I don't have anxiety about drawing things or anything blocking me, I am just completely uninspired and don't know what to draw.
Mr. Peanutbutter's ripped in the intro
OH NO IT'S ART BLOCK! QUICK!, USE YOUR MAGIC BREATHING TO KILL IT!
