One detail of Zakk's guitars is that he runs his EMGs at 18v as opposed to the standard 9v. Doesn't make a world of difference but it's a small mod that gets you that much closer.
Did he use that as far back as no more tears?

Was thinking the same before this video came out, stoner is love, stoner is life.
But for that sound you will need a Bass player to play along the Guitar.
KillingerDOOM Soldano would be more High on Fire than Sleep I think. If you want to do Sleep on a Budget then a cheaper Orange head is your best bet I reckon. And if you've no budget then a kickass Matamp's the ticket.

You guys nailed the tone. I just picked up one of those Black Label Chorus pedals at the local shop for 80$. It is well worth it, the pedal is so versatile. Not just for Zakk Wylde tones but for just about anything. I even use it on bass for that Duff Mckagan chorusey sound with the high and low cut controls

Honestly, to do a lot of the vai style trem tricks they're gonna have to get something with a way better trem. The "Std. DL Tremolo" that comes on the jem junior is one of the worst I've ever tried.
I own one, it's a piece of shit. Worst fret job ever, faulty output jack. The only thing it has going for it is Steve Vai's signature on it.

Yea zakks tone is basically a marshall with a phaser and chorus and overdrive and wah! Ive got a jvm410c matched with these pedals and ive got very close!
I'd love to see a reverse sounds like ! Basically , you create the complete opposite sound of the selected tone, and play that selected band / artists songs. To show just how much a certain artist / bands tone means to the music! And also to see how different/similar the opposite tone affects how the riff /section sounds . Just an idea guys! please tell me what you think .
There is a guy that plays classic Strat songs on a Les Paul, Les Paul riffs on a Strat, etc... I remember seeing 3 videos and finding it interesting. Search it.

I have that very same guitar and have always wondered which EMGs were in it. Glad to finally know. I must say.....they are great guitars. In a bout 20 minutes of playing it i went from casual interest in the guitar store.....to im taking it home. I have a Gibson Les Paul.....and my Epiphone Prophecy Plus does not take a back seat to it.
Edit: And.....now I have a 2006 Epiphone Les Paul Custom Zakk Wylde Camo Bullseye purchased from Diablo guitars thru Reverb! It is freaking awesome. Amazingly in nearly new condition. It has EMG HZ pickups. Very very pleased with this guitar!

@@davedecker1725 i agree. Mine came from Diablo Guitars with one of the best setups I've ever seen! Intonation perfect. Low action. Stays in tune. Sounds great! I wanted a Zakk Wylde version for years and this one did not disappoint! My Gibson Les Paul isn't much different on those points.....it just sounds different.

Another great sounds like. It amazes me how more often than not you get really close to the artist sound. Like you said though with zakk half of the sound is his picking style and also the heavy vibrato on those crazy bends with a wah. He is a very heavy handed player too. If you watch his right hand, he really hits the strings hard!

DzoniMyths honestly, it would be great if they did. They'll probably need to use a dsl40 though,so that'll make everyone happy (insert sarcasm here). I think it would be cool for them to talk about. Green Day seems to be a simple rig, but I have never found a cover on RUclips with a tone super close to the records or even their live sound. And yeah, I can't wait for the new single!

Every one of these riffs/licks I've made up myself yrs ago, just noodling around in my bedroom not even thinking anything about making a song out of them. I have no confidence in my guitar playing so I basically play for myself. I started out on the drums, little problem with that though, the old lady won't give me my 5pc Ludwig since we split but I have my guitar and a sweet VOX efx pedal.

Saw Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine is now using an all black Gibson Les Paul Custom with black hardware and EMG's now and since I needed a backup for on stage I was looking for something in that ballpark. Definitely going to check out that Epiphone, since it's practically a Les Paul custom with EMG's.

I have 2 JCM 800 amps and I have to say that DSL 40C is pretty impressive. Rabea might not think he's as good as Zakk, but he's still pretty damned good.
