I've been using the SE for roughly a year now. Not once have I had anyone go, "Wow...why are you using such an old phone." I wouldn't really say that would happen. I will also say, as a photographer, the sample photos on the SE look more natural than the 13 mini and that's because the 13 mini is creating an HDR image. As I stated in my own SE video the SE is MEANT to be an outdated design.

I just got the SE for $265 Its definitely a steal and I like this line because of its classiness. It's not a huge phone like phones are nowadays and the camera is better than any android phone I could have bought for the same price.

I think a lot of the cameras on the Android side at a similar price might be more competitive than you think, especially with the Pixel 6 and 6a regularly dipping even below that price on the used/refurb market. But if you aren’t an Android person, the SE is great for the money.
I had the SE 2020 and traded it for a 13 Mini. It was an amazing upgrade. Everything on the 13 Mini is better, photos are fantastic and battery life is about twice what I got on the SE. I'd really like to see Apple bring back the 5.8" screen size with smaller bezels than the iPhone X.
I agree with you on all counts!! I adore that 5.8” size as well, and would love to see that design brought back. The 6.1” of all the flagship iPhones of late is too much.
I have been waited for the smaller phone since years then finally replaced my iPhone XS by 13 mini. Its best phone i had ever, 5.4" is still big enough screen to write emails, posts on socials and watching YT videos or gaming. No more larger phone ever if possible. It lays in pocket perfectly no matter you're in work or on sport activities like running or biking, and completely no issues with battery working time - one day of very active up to two days when i am not using phone a lot.
Depending on how much ppl actually know about iphones. At my school, most ppl were born way after the first iPhone was popular. I was born in 2005 and when i bring my iPhone 5s to school, kids don't seem to care, their just curious as to why it's so small. People in my school even still use the iPhone 6! Which is amazing!
If the SE 2022 is nothing more than a repackaged iPhone 8, then the iPhone 14 is nothing more than a repackaged iPhone 12 (maybe even 11). For us older people(I am 52), the real iPhone has a touch ID button in the middle of the lower part of the phone... It's always been like that, and the fact that you were born later is your problem! and what are we going to do now?

I have a 6s and still using it. I love the size and the weight and of course, the Touch ID. It's all about preference but I just love how the SE 3 looks. I'm really considering it and it would be a nice upgrade from my 6s.
I went from a Xr to the Se3. The Xr had 128 gb of storage but in the 3 years I had owned it, I only filled up 28 gb. Going to the Se 3 with 64 gb was fine for me, especially since I got it for $150 slightly used. I prefer the smaller phone, the screen is big enough for watching a youtube video on the go, or checking email. I have a laptop, Ipad, and smart tv for spending long hours watching content. Oh, and after I got my Se, I traded in the Xr to Best Buy for a $150 gift card. Will wait until something catches my eye before using it, but I think I got a awesome deal.
iPhone SE has my vote. I’m not picky about specs all too much I just use my phone the regular amount. Not a gamer, don’t really have social media anymore. I just want a small, cheap but capable iPhone. Plus I miss Touch ID. IPhone SE is more than capable for the average user. The internals are current with an older design which is perfect. Three options to choose from and 128 gb is probably what I’d choose. Overall, I think SE is badass. And I currently have an iPhone 12 if that matters. M

I have the iPhone SE 3 gen and I bought it off a guy new for 300 and it’s a awesome phone very fast snappy and love the size as well the home button no swipe up no Face ID no lags
I love the 13 mini to SE3 But i use the SE3 because i have issues with oLED . I think the SE3 will be the last LCD compact phone from Apple (SE4 will be oLED) . So i just pray the SE3 lasts a lot longer !!!

finally upgrading from an iPhone 7 to a 13 mini next month, while I do prefer the colours of the pictures taken on the SE 2022, there's just better battery life and performance on the 13 mini. I will miss the touch ID though.
u obviously dont know much about phones. they will be the same speed cause they share the same processor and the “longer” battery life on the mini isnt even noticeable.
You should never get a phone for other people’s opinion. Who cares. As long as it works for you that’s all that matters. iPhone SE is cost effective and does what a phone is supposed to be for way, way cheaper. Plus iOS works best with home button iPhones.

Both are great but the one thing holding the SE 2022 back is that horrible letterbox format on the display. If it had the same edge to edge screen, the SE 3 would be the better device. And I disagree about Touch ID, it is totally worth the love it is shown. I like Face ID but my first iPhone was a 6S Plus and I got used to that button being there. And honestly, with androids giving users the choice of both fingerprint sensors and face unlock, Apple should also offer both. Maybe they could use the side mounted fingerprint sensor on the side? I've never cared about cameras and I think far too many users and tech reviewers alike obsess over cameras. Honestly, you aren't going to get professional level cameras on any phone and if you want pro cameras your best bet is grabbing a Nikon.
I just don't understand the love for touch ID, I find that Face ID is more convenient, especially when my hands are frequently wet after washing or sweaty and the touch ID fails. Face ID is just a tap on the screen and looking at the screen at a reasonable angle, and you're in. There are more instances that Touch ID doesn't work for me than instances that Face ID doesn't work.
I agree to an extent about the cameras. We shouldn't be expecting pro-grade cameras in our pockets, but it is really nice to have some confidence in the camera you have in your pocket.
eh, the bezels are what make it interesting in my opinion. i love the iphone 7s design, ESPECIALLY the size. it's the perfect phone screen imo and the only thing that turns me off about the 13 mini is the bezels. i want a phone that is truly compact and small.

I will say this: if one has to have the OLED and all-screen and the latest and greatest and don't mind the notch then sure, get the mini. But screenwise there's not much more content shown on the mini vs the SE anyway. They're both small...and so kinda renders the whole OLED vs LCD argument if it's just for quick web searches and texting and occasional RUclips videos on the go. There's the tablet for prolonged consumption. And if your phone is your main media consumption device then just get a bigger screen. As far as price is concerned, you're forgetting that no one in their right mind is going to pay Apple full price for the SE3 when you can get a excellent second-hand one for like $250 all day. And since most ppl that use the SE as a tool anyway it's actually more comfortable to hold with the curved sides and use the SE since you don't have to reach all the way to the top of the phone for the back button and it's more comfortable to swipe up from the bottom to access control panel and Touch ID works effortlessly without the need to bring the phone to your face. So with price being negated and and ergonomics and everything else considered it's not clear cut which phone one should buy. You're recommending the mini based on your subjective opinion and you're comparing specs. If specs were the only factor then of course you should choose the mini. But there's a reason why some ppl prefer the SE. There's certainly a market for it regardless of specs. Ppl are not buying the SE for specs.

I've been using a 12 mini for over a year now and have gotten plenty of comments from ppl thinking it's a 5s so I think it's more a matter of chance

These are budget phones for Apple's standards, not for Samsung or another brand.
