Katie as a person like in videos where she's herself is awesome, but the character Katie that she plays in most videos oh my gosh it's like a mash up of all the most annoying people and i love watching them XD
I actually have some respect for those people. They don't have much knowledge about a particular topic, they don't claim to have much knowledge about said topic, and they don't form solid opinions and push those opinions on said topic. The latter two statements are rarely true for many of our actual politicians.
Because politics is shit, all politicians are liars, control freaks, egomaniacs, and hypocrites, and everyone who rewards them with attention is complicit.
Sierra Southwell Well if they merely stick to that, that’s fine. But when they proudly proclaim their ignorance, DO have strong opinions and vote anyway... 🙄 There’s a guy on my block who legit thought that Russia was still Soviet and the Cold War was still on. No joke.
@@dantebanducci235 my parents are under the impression that Russia is still a communist country. I asked them why they thought that, and they vaguely, unsurely replied that they were living under an authoritarian rule that had their fingers in a lot of the economy. I think they equate totalitarianism with communism (and unfortunately communism with socialism.) It's unfortunate that they're likely not remotely alone in this thought process.
Sierra Southwell Well, as Lenin himself said, “The goal is Socialism is Always Communism”. And socialist/communist countries ARE always totalitarian by nature. But of course, totalitarianism can come in many other forms: Religious Fundamentalism, Fascism, Globalism, Monarchy, Zionism, you name it. I think with the guy I mentioned, he had just somehow managed to miss the last 25 years... I should ask to sample his stash. 😂

Bragging about not knowing something extremely popular in modern culture because you think it makes you seem deep is the same as liking a really obscure movie or show because it's obscure.
Oh, surprisingly relatable. You could read comic books or LOTR and have your own subculture, but I had to read all 20 books by famous female poet's sister Magdalena Samozwaniec all by myself. And yeah now as an adult I haven't watched the Game of Thrones.
i know a person who does this, he pretends he doesn't like well known stuff to seem interesting, like , not liking it is perfectly okay and valid, but claiming they don't know they exist is kind of hard to belive , not to say he mocks everytime someone brings up something they like, he is allways , for ex: Avengers, really? in a very condesending tone
Yeah I honestly the person who doesn't know anything the popular references can be pretty annoying when they try to emphasise it, honestly at that point they should've just walked away because at this point they know what she's like
I mean I have seen barely any DC/Marvel movies because they are just not my type and I haven’t watched any episode of GOT (I want to get into it tho). I only watched the HP films when I was little and I don’t remember much, only the most basic things. I can still easily hold a conversation tho, there are many other things to talk about than the most popular tv shows/movies at the moment.
Ana-Maria That's not what they're talking about in this skit though. The problem is people who think they're better for not knowing about popular things because they think it makes them better than everyone else. For you, it's just that you don't know much about the topic 'cause of preference. You aren't part of the problem.
Once upon a time I was but a child and never not hungry so I pretended to my friends that I didn’t know what snacks like goldfish or fruit roll ups were so that they would let me “try” some out of pity

Tbh this was me as a kid in primary school. I was so proud of the fact that I knew nothing about celebrities. And I loved to volunteer that, "no, I haven't read Harry Potter. Or Twilight. Or Roald Dahl or the Hobbit. I just finished Fahrenheit 451 and am now reading 'To Kill a Mocking Jay'" as a flex. And don't get me wrong, the last two books are great books which I did love. But the reason I referred to them was because I thought it made me smart and different that I was reading those instead of the books everyone else was reading. Then I reached secondary school and joined a friendship group obsessed with Harry Potter in year 8 and read it all and broke down my stupid superiority complex.

Katie as a person like in videos where she's herself is awesome, but the character Katie that she plays in most videos oh my gosh it's like a mash up of all the most annoying people and i love watching them XD
As the “innocent” kid at school, I’ve admittedly been like this.
Bach ???
I 100% thought that she would pull out a bag of cocaine and really go to town on it.
Oh yay I like when these sketches end with something positive. College Humor is great but I sometimes feel so bad for the characters being bullied
This is kind of how I feel when I talk politics with folks. “Why are you so proud of your ignorance?!”
There’s a guy on my block who legit thought that Russia was still Soviet and the Cold War was still on.
These kind of people are my least favorite people
I actually never saw harry potter, but even I know that house Dumbledore is the good one!
as a lifelong harry potter fan, I'm triggered.
Pfftt. Everyone knows that house alpha phi beta is the best!
No, the Potter house is the best.
Nope, it's House Targaryen! The dragons can burn the witches and warlocks wands, sizzle the snakes to a crisp and melt the golden snitch. The sorting hat wouldn't survive the fiery blast, either. House Targ ftw! 🐲🐉
I'm pretty sure Voldemort is the good one.
The ending is lowkey wholesome
I love how Katie brings out her hands any time she's talking down to people
The thing about 'read what I like and I'll check out what you like?'
Me and my friend did that- I was being snobby about Hamilton, and she was being snobby about my favorite book (Name of The Wind). We made a deal- I'd listen to the Hamilton soundtrack, and she'd read Name of The Wind.
Long story short, I'm now a Hamilton fan and she's now a Name of The Wind fan. It worked out XD
Sometimes when im forced to hang out with people I dont like Ill do this just to annoy them!
This is the first time I've related to an annoying character XD
I'm gonna stop doing this. It really helps to look at yourself from a different perspective
The ending is so wholesome. They actually make a huge attempt to connect with Katie ❤️
I’m kinda disappointed that Dash Robertson isn’t a real series
I would HATE Katie. Great character :-)
Nobody:
Kathie: CaPTaiN AmErICA?!?
Kathie and Katie are twins.
Neither can work too many hours, so they use Kathy when Katie gets tired.
Katie is funnier, but Kathy doesn't have a drug problem.
~fin~
the new girl’s color coordination is on point
Bragging about not knowing something extremely popular in modern culture because you think it makes you seem deep is the same as liking a really obscure movie or show because it's obscure.
Oh, surprisingly relatable. You could read comic books or LOTR and have your own subculture, but I had to read all 20 books by famous female poet's sister Magdalena Samozwaniec all by myself. And yeah now as an adult I haven't watched the Game of Thrones.
I thought this was going to be about people who say: "I'm bad at math"
i know a person who does this, he pretends he doesn't like well known stuff to seem interesting, like , not liking it is perfectly okay and valid, but claiming they don't know they exist is kind of hard to belive , not to say he mocks everytime someone brings up something they like, he is allways , for ex: Avengers, really? in a very condesending tone
Soo... Is the "Dash Robertson visits the white house" trilogy any good? Asking for a friend
I couldn't even find it on the internet, I'm gonna ask next time I'm at the library
@@mee7118 asking for yourself
I am legitimately disappointed that Dash Robinson Visits the White House isn't a real book series.
Yeah I honestly the person who doesn't know anything the popular references can be pretty annoying when they try to emphasise it, honestly at that point they should've just walked away because at this point they know what she's like
"I certainly know what a house is."
Suuuuuure you do...
Oh god I know this type of person and it hurts to hsve a conversation with her
I wouldn't know the kind of person you're speaking of. I haven't watched Collegehumor in yonks.
@@ana-maria8350 That's not the point of this. Are you proud of not knowing it? Or are you just indifferent because those two are very seperate things.
Ana-Maria That's not what they're talking about in this skit though. The problem is people who think they're better for not knowing about popular things because they think it makes them better than everyone else. For you, it's just that you don't know much about the topic 'cause of preference. You aren't part of the problem.
I'm getting PTSD from all the friends I've had that were exactly like this...
Once upon a time I was but a child and never not hungry so I pretended to my friends that I didn’t know what snacks like goldfish or fruit roll ups were so that they would let me “try” some out of pity
Goddamn genius
Being proud of ignorance is the regional pastime down here where I'm from. 😂
it’s literally the girl who thinks she’s so “quirky” and pretends to not know anything just for attention like shut up hunty no one cares you don’t listen to “mainstream” stuff. chill
Raph - "superhero movies"
Subtitles that someone actually wrote: "soup in here movies"
(0:05)
Please.
Everyone knows _Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse_ is the best Spider-Man movie.
never heard of it.
Oscar? who's that?
far from home is the best live action spider-man movie
I liked it : ]
Actually? I agree
The best spider-man movie is the (fictional) one that Plumbing the Death Star came up with where Peter Parker got bit on the balls by a radioactive spider and died.
It's good shit.
As someone who's never seen Game of Thrones, I know more about that show just from pop culture osmosis than some shows I've actually SEEN.
Then I reached secondary school and joined a friendship group obsessed with Harry Potter in year 8 and read it all and broke down my stupid superiority complex.
who's making the captions? I legit thought the dude said
"man they've been making some good soup in here movies lately" for a sec
What are captions? Never heard of it
1. It was cute how she said "or I'll kick you"
2. Just realizing she's kinda like Phoebi from friends.. did I spell-... nm
I only read 3 and a half books of Harry Potter and watched four movies but I know HP references .
I've seen all the movies but only read like 3 of the books and I understand most of what people are talking about
Ironic
Considering that there are 8 movies, drawing from 7 books, that means you haven't experienced the entire franchise yet.
@@Kipah yes,thats what he means.
I have watched like 3 of the movies and read one of the books and I still understand HP references.
Katie's bits always hit deep in a psychological way. I love it. But I'm also scared of what she's capable of.
I mostly keep mouth shut and listen, never ask the detail. If someone asks my opinion, I'll just smile and nod.
Who else searched up Dash Robertson Visits the White House by Meredith Sharks?
I'm with Katie on Game of Thrones... They don't even deserve the online research 💯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
D&D didn't have any books to work off of.
I actually don’t know what a game or a throne is. Never heard of them. Are those foods?
Haha, this is low-key me but bc I actually am ignorant, like I'll just listen and nod and hope they don't ask me questions 😂
I love how they get into the thick tomes just to include her.
