January 2020 I lost my dad. Then the pandemic followed. That year I wore L'imperatrice layered with one spray of Mon Guerlain. The combination brought tears to my eyes as for some reason it reminded me of watermelon and sun, my childhood and happy summers with my whole family around. ❤ The last perfume I gifted my dad was Blue Jeans. I still have the bottle and smell it...

Hi ladies, that La vie est Belle bottle Was actually designed im the 40s and they just never had a perfume. They thought they should use it with until the original perfume came along. That’s the story that the Lancome rep told HSN when they were on that channel promoting the perfume.

The first perfume I bought myself was Lou Lou by Cacherel. My mum also gave me a bottle of Elizabeth Arden’s red door, and everyone would comment on it. This was in the late 80s so I don’t wear them anymore but I loved them back then. In my 20s my signature was Calvin Klein Eternity, and in my 30s I bought Gucci Envy and it was my signature for many years.

Maison Alhambra has a dupe for the LA Vie Est Belle Intensement on Jomashop. I have never smelled this version but I just blind bought the Maison Alhambra version and it is BEAUTIFUL. I too am a long time lover of Sunflowers. I always have a bottle of that and True Love by Elizabeth Arden in my collection. Old school classics in my opinion.

Fun fact? I’ve never smelled Sunflowers! Hard to believe really. Now I’m intrigued.
A really interesting thing I learned following some layering threads is using Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist with summer fragrances like Lust for Sun, Liz Claiborne’s Mambo, Alien Goddess (etc) really adds a beautiful sparkle, and fluffiness that I ADORE!
I bought Byblos very early in my fragrance journey and I liked it at first, but testing it recently I couldn’t get past the hairspray vibe which surprised me!
JHAG is definitely a divisive house, think it’s their ISO E / Ambroxen that people sensitive to it find off putting. I absolutely ADORE Vanilla Vibes!! I go anosmic to it but it’s been one of my most complimented fragrances; really radiates with body heat. Ode to Dullness is gorgeous too! I wish their Pear, Inc was better on me, but it fades soooo fast.. and I love pear 😢
And for people who may find Alien a bit too indolic / strong, try Armaf’s Sacrifice for Her; it’s like a fresher version and really beautiful. Had to let it macerate but it was so worth it.

Sunflowers is strangely my most complimented fragrance. I have random people comment HOURS after I’ve put it on. The kid at Walgreens, one of my coworkers always notices when I wear it and tells me it’s the only perfume I should bother with because it was “made for me.” And it’s so stinking cheap! Win/win!

I loved Hot Couture when it was shaped like a lady..before it was reformulated. It's not as good now..but I still like it and that Alien flanker is my fave the eau extraordinaire..soooo good, Sunflower was my signature in high school in the 90's

Great video, I'm an Angel and Alien lover.... I'm back into Angel again within the last year, when it first came out I smelt it on everyone way too much so it turned me off it but now that no one wears it anymore this is when I've started wearing it again ❤
Ah I must revisit Sunflowera. That was one of my uni perfumes back in late 90s. This week I've been wearing Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. It's so so delicious and its helping me.keep cool as its so hot in London right now. I think it was Green Tea, Sunflowers and Tommy girl that I used to wear around that time. And Body Shop tobacco flower. All of them are bangers.

I can remember getting a bottle of Givenchy Hot Couture, while on a girls trip with my mother many years ago. It’s a beautiful perfume.
Sadly, my mother passed away a few years back, but every time I smell that perfume, I think of her and of the fun time we had on that trip.
If you're in the USA there's a family owned business called Candles By Victoria that sells fragranced EVERYTHING and they have a ton of scents to choose from (over 1,000+)...including Hot Couture.
I'm talking body products, laundry soap, laundry scent booster, car and carpet scents, as well as candles and melts. Great quality and great prices, just Google them, if you're interested.
Iconic fragrances that transport me back in time are: Perry Ellis 360, Mackie by Bob Mackie, Knowing by Lancome, Xia Xiang and Miami Glow. Honestly I could go on and on.

Oh my, what I wouldn't give to smell the original Ambush by Dana. I was quite taken with the commercials and magazine ads when I was in high school and I bought a bottle (my first scent ever) as soon as I earned a salary. Dating myself, I know, but I wore it and loved it for years and will always miss it! I still have the bottle.
I cannot agree more about Alien and Sunflowers' descriptions and your thoughts about them are so close to mine that in a way I feel close to you. I got introspective, I think fragrances connect us no matter the distance (I'm from Argentina)or life experiences ❤

I love Val and you Maria in videos - you work so well together. If you were doing one of those TV shop channels I would buy everything. And in all fairness a lot of Middle Eastern fragrances I bought were after watching you 2 in videos - and I am not complaining they were all hits :) and this was just a walk down the memory lane with scents that were popular when I was in junior high school and reminding me of when my interest in perfume sparked.

To me they are almost spot on, with the Lattafa being stronger in performance.

Arden has a few that I love! Reminds me of my teens! I actually still love red door! But it can be hit or miss!? Some bottles have that sexy base some don’t it’s soo odd!? But red door has a very man pleasing undertone ( if I get the right one ) ha. I also enjoy the White Tea
The Byblos bottle!! Love it! I actually love honeysuckle oil ( but it can give a headache darn) 😢
