I have both Bianco Latte and Eclaire and they smell IDENTICAL. I don't smell any floral in the Eclaire. It's milky, caramel, chocolaty...a true groumond. Its exactly like Bianco Latte full stop. The longevity in the Eclaire is also similar to Bianco Latte, 10 hours plus. Yes, it's nice to own the original however if your short on cash, Eclaire will be the perfect option.

Agreed there is no noticeable floral note in eclaire, I got a decant of both and it's the same, I think because she got a bottle of eclaire that it hasn't matured and she got a decant of latte which has matured. I know fragrantica has a floral note maybe it's just to soften the fragrance a bit but it's a pure gourmand

Whenever I buy a dupe perfume I don't expect it to smell exactly the same as the original. I expect it to smell similar to it and to have the same vibe. Expecting an exact replica of the original is just silly. If I want to have a perfume that has a certain vibe and smells in a certain way, but I simply can not afford 200-500$ price tag of that perfume, I will buy a clone. If you really like an original perfume, no clone will be like it, so in those cases, I would certainly buy the real thing. And also, every perfume changes over time, middle eastern, niche, designer... the problem with middle eastern is that they are putting them out on the market as soon as they are produced. I am sure this one will be more similar to Bianco Latte in a couple of months, but certainly never spot on.

I totally agree with you. I think most dupes are just likenesses and that’s totally OK with me. Personally, I LOVE Middle Eastern perfumes because, as you said, anyone can smell good at any budget (or something to that effect! LOL!) I used to exclusively wear designer fragrances but for a fraction of the price I can play around with so many different scents. While I appreciate the artistry behind creating a niche perfume, it's simply not what I'm prioritizing at the moment! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

  • @Lianeswt120
    @Lianeswt120 5 месяцев назад +15

To me it depends on the fragrance. If there’s a perfume I’d like to have but I’m unwilling to pay the price, I think a “dupe” or inspiration for far less is a great option. I have a good mix of niche, designer, and affordable inspirations. I’m usually looking at a vibe rather than all the tiny nuances. When I test perfumes I only smell “on skin in the air” rather than sniffing up close because I feel like in the air is the most realistic. So if it smells good in the air or sillage I’m ok with it being a dupe or whatever.

I agree that fragrances are not true copies of others, but a few fragrances that I've heard were clones or dupes were actually released before the 'original'. I like watching the fragrance videos just to get an idea what something smells like and if the notes appeal to me. I want something because it smells good, not because it's supposed to smell like something else. Thank you for keeping it real. Ive realized that everyone's skin chemistry will interact with the fragrances differently. With Eclaire, I smell rice krispies/sweet cereal milk with a hint of floral that turns licorice/cherry/almond-like. With Bianco Latte, there's no floral and the powdery coumarin makes the scent smell like a powdered lucky charms marshmallow with almost almond and chocolate feel to it. It also feels smoother to my nose and less synthetic smelling. Unfortunately, it seems my skin is taking Bianco Latte better (rip wallet) 😂 I'll settle for a travel size for now

Thank you for the comparison and deep dive. My thoughts are similar to yours, if I adore a fragrance I will save for the legit scent (yeah what’s up with designer cost these days?!) but if I’m like I like this but don’t love it and the inspired by is much less then I’ll go that route

I’m not sure if I’ll buy either. I have enough perfumes as is. If I were to buy one, it would be the Lattafa. At this time, I don’t like powdery perfumes.
I am so glad that you mentioned that we need to spend our money on what we want to spend our money on. I was perfume shamed by a follower on a different channel. If I would have been quick witted enough, I would have asked the “shamer” to Venmo me some money so I could buy expensive perfumes.😆
I loved the advice you gave another commenter. You told them to love the dupe for itself and not compare it to the original.
At this time, the majority of my perfume collection is from Lattafa. I don’t know if they’re dupes. I think some are, but I’m not sure. The ones I have smell good to me. Yes, I’m judging them for themselves.

I also own Eclair and what I would recommend is wearing the BIANCO LATTE body cream with the Eclair perfume, it's cheaper than buying the OG BIANCO LATTE. I promise you, you will NOT be disappointed. The body cream has a beautiful sweet cinnamon bakery smell to it and you will get MAJOR MAJOR compliments from everyone around you 😘.

Eclaire is currently $39 US, plus shipping. If I were going to buy one & I wasn’t head over heels in love with Bianco Latte, I’m going for the dupe at that price. However, if I was a diehard Bianco Latte lover, I would absolutely pay the extra for the original. I have fragrances in my collection that have dupes available for a lower price, but I just know I wouldn’t be satisfied without the real thing. Conversely, I have a couple of dupes that I love because I don’t have that emotional connection to the originals. I love that there are so many dupe houses now, so people can smell amazing while saving some money. But I also think that if you truly love the original, you should get the original if you can afford it. Otherwise you could end up chasing dupe after dupe trying to get the feeling that you get from the original. I hope that all made sense. Late night rambling 😂

After 2001 everything was reformulated bc FDA removed and banned alot of ingredients changing the longevity in perfumes forever. They dont know what's good from lack of experience. They think body sprays are strong. They compare things wrong bc they weren't around when original formulas existed and on and on. I had to stop watching young influencers bc they aren't educated enuff. I'm 44. I watch people my age or older

I think you needed to let your bottle macerate longer considering you got a FB of eclaire and a decant of BL, i just got a decant of eclaire and i definitely get the spice and want to sneeze as soon as i spray it, same as Bianco latte, it smells almost identical to me and i bought a decant of both so they likely have both matured, because eclaire is definitely spicy and rich right off the bat. I don't necessarily thiink price always equals quality, sometimes perfumeries just mark things up exceptionally high and sell their niche branding. Lattafa is able to keep prices low because of no marketing and high overhead prices. The quality is still there. If perfumes are so special they can't be duped, then its usually because they have complex blending of higher quality ingredients that are worth the price, imo if something can be duped for less than half the price it probably isnt worth that much but we pay for the "niche" prestige.

I've tried so many dupes of that fragrance in my lifetime, and none of them quite capture the thickness of the original or the dry down. The original has a very specific sweetness and a very specific patchouli that, just can't be recreated. I always notice it when I try any dupe. I have listened to many reviews and read on Fragrantica and I am skeptic about all the raving reviews that say that Bianco Latte and Eclair are IDENTICAL. RUclips is so filled with hype and exaggerated raving reviews. But believe it or not, Marie - this review of yours made me pull the trigger and blind buy Eclair 😂 I figured that even if your description is right, I would appreciate the scent, because I won't get my hands on Bianco Latte ether way and Eclair sounded lovely. I am SO happy about Eclair 🤩😍 To me, it is thick and "opaque" like true soft caramel, where as other caramel fragrances of mine are "translucent", like thin caramel-flavoured syrup. The price difference here is not as huge as with other dupes (U$60 v/s U$130), so is basically half the price and I was thinking, maybe I should go for the original since my thoughts were like, if Eclaire was 1/3 of the price or less I would buy the dupe, but in this case, stores are just overpricing this dupe because of the hype. So I'm gonna go for the OG.

100% agree with your assessment of Eclaire vs BL. I have & LOVE both but that’s the first thing I said about Eclaire-its not got the depth of BL but if you didn’t have both you’d not necessarily notice this when wearing. I find Eclaire lasting many hours-it’s on my skin the next day! I use a combo of both sometimes too just to stretch out the pricier BL😊

I, too, have/had both Bianco Latte and Eclaire. I waited until Eclaire was $19.56 US dollars and threw it in to get free shipping on Fragrancebuy. It's not the same to me at all. It's not milky or thick in the beginning and the caramel was too much like sugar, also the addition of white flowers kind of make it smell like one of those vanilla air fresheners, it eventually goes away but it's not the nicest. It just didn't smell rich or the same, you could tell. These are small things, but it makes the overall experience different for me. Dupes, for me, end up smelling 90-95% the same, but it seems like it's the most important 5-10% that's different. Ensuring my frustration, lol. Everyone's nose interprets fragrances differently, so test. Eclaire is cheap enough now to not make a difference if you buy it and it doesn't move you. As for me, I gave it away to a womens shelter and I hope the fun scent profile brings smiles and joy to those who use it.

I think the word "dupe" should be banned and instead these frags should simply be described as "inspirations", because that's what they are. They don't even pretend to be exact dupes, because their notes are usually slightly different. I've been pretty happy with most of my inspired frags, because I love how they smell, and not because they are supposedly a copy of another fragrance. And I no longer buy any of them right away, especially early after their release when they're super popular, because their prices are higher due to demand. As an example, I didn't buy Khair Pistachio when it was first released, because the lowest price I could find was $59 US. I recently ordered it a couple of weeks ago for $38, quite a difference! Anyway, thank you for always being honest and not giving in to hype.

Then there’s the experience! So I was on a student trip and I wanted to go home with something special I found a Jo Malone right next to a Diptyque and I chose Diptyque because it was a new house to me. I tell you those ladies treated me with dignity and respect and let me get my nose on so many in the small amount of time I had but I knew I was going home with something so I got the smallest 50 ml they sold and they wrapped it up beautifully and I was surprised to have two samples included when I opened my bag up later. Both ones I hadn’t gotten to smell while I was there. And you know what? I have a beautiful, well balanced fragrance unlike anything in my collection, it’s close but it is better. And I have some powerful samples that will last quite a few wears.

Lattafa has changed a lot in the last couple of years. I've realized that cost isn't the only reason to buy dupes, and you commented several times on one of my reasons: certain fragrances make me cough, while the dupes don't. Specifically, Nishane Ani triggered my cough, while Lattafa Nasheet doen't. The patchouli in Flowerbomb chokes me out while Maison Alhambra Victoria Flower doesn't. As you mentioned, Bianco Latte makes you cough and Eclaire doesn't. Since I don't want fragrances that give me respiratory distress, but I enjoy fragrances, some dupes are better! But cost is certainly a factor too, and the price difference between the original and the dupe can vary over time.
