I miss your old school videos. Breeding shrimp in the tubs was the one that made me subscribe to you and you never finished it, wish you would go back to your roots a bit. Miss your old fish room videos. It’s just not quite the same anymore but you still make great content.
This editing is epic. It's awesome seeing this channel evolve over the years !
Can you do a video to show how to transfer them into aquariums and what the die back will be
This caught my eye because I have an entire room full of tubs and various tropical plants. Not only did you blow my mind, but I think you may have opened my eyes to an entirely new world to play with!
I literally have half a rack full of plants, a 30 gallon makeshift greenhouse and I'm feeling really stupid right about now
I’m going to give this a try. I hope you’re going to do some more the breeding/raising fry content soon? Personally it’s my favourite content to watch. Although, I still watch all your content, I just enjoy the breeding and raising fry the best. 🐟🐠😊
Yes more is on the way
If you're new at raising fry, divide them into two containers in case something goes wrong. Losing all of them in one night is easier than you think, and a spare gives you another chance.
❤😂
This is great thanks for this. Interesting to see how the plants grow out of an aquarium.
A transparent lid allowing more light in might increase growth a bit
We need more videos can’t get enough of your channel
Ojalá transmitan este jueves
This music is beautiful and so dramatic ❤
Cool! I’ve always wanted to grow plants emersed. I’m going to give this a go - it looks simple enough.
Just gave me an idea so i can start my garden on the winter
Another great video! Editing and presentation second to none.
Wicked project! Planning on doing this with alot of Buce
Really helpful, Nick! I’m doing the same thing with Java fern as we speak. I obviously need to expand!
love the new format keep it up!
If you open the container and let some light in, the plants will grow 1000x faster. Light + CO2 = massive growth. Ludwigia will grow a foot or more in about a month after it has new leaves. Open a little at a time.
Using the plants you have now, open the top a little for a few days, then within a week keep the cover off all the time and give it defused light. If your plants are struggling put the lid back on a little. Then new plants can be created within weeks. They don't have to adapt to the air.
Amazing video nick! I will definitely have to consider setting up one of these myself. You certainly got some amazing results there. Thanks for sharing mate
love this vid great stuff congrats on 250k
This reminds me a lot of Dr Plant's videos, this was really well done 👏
I feel like I've been waiting to see a video like this and your the perfect person to make it
Great idea mate
Awesome video. Rhizome plants can definitely grow immersed but do best in water. Obviously you know that. Cool experiment. 👍 Rhizomes just grow much quicker submerged. Those rooted plants really took off.
Looove the editing!
headsup for the future. rainwater slowly turns acidic when its stored. i used to use rainwater for my indoor greenhouse until i begun having issues. done a ph test and it was at 3.5
Awesome idea
Wow thank you so much for showing this. I'm now curious out of all the plants I have which can have their stems or roots under water and the leaves above the water
Could you specify the lamp you use. Thks
Great video, this is good for people that don't have the room or are renting, much easier to move around then a tank full of water and a good way to be able to move them around much more easily, cheap way of doing it to.
Would have grown better in water 😂
Pls do a Update about your bettas
how long did u keep the lights on?
Ditto!
HOPE TO SEE IT AFTER A YEAR :)
THANK YOU FOR SHARING :)
THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
Yes
❤
Very interesting, I would love to know more, are you in Australia
I made a little bog for a cutting last night. 😂 I don't have a good setup, so I'm just hoping that the plant lives.
How often do you mist?
Impressive!
But in 100 days in a tank with good lighting and fertalizer they would easily had grown atleast 3 times more then that. Probably even more
Do you think this is a good way to get tissue culture plants going as well? Thanks for sharing your results!
Awesome results w ur tub experiments. Obviously ur Rhizome plants were slower but I’d like to c u do some more individual breed tubs on the Rhizome types please? Also, i was wondering if u know any Aussie Home growers who have Cuttings of Brucephalandra varieties for Sale at bearable prices please? Also, same question for u? Do u happen to have any juvie Tetra varieties for sale as I’m looking for approximately 50’ish. Same of Barb varieties if possible please? I’m located in Nerang on the GC too. Love to hear back soon please. Cheers. Claire
This was great. Thanks. How long did you leave the light on? How many times did you spray them with water?
👍🏻👍🏻
Do they grow faster in tubs or in aquarium?
If youre growing them to sell it might be easier for you to put them in individual pots to start with, that way the roots dont get all tangled together.
I also think that sphagnum moss could work well for this, its cleaner to work with and customers wont have to wash soil off the roots before adding the plants to their aquariums.
Or maybe even cups with 1 inch of water with rooting hormone/nutrients could work.
Great! light source running all 24/7?
After 3 months I'd have been expecting more growth than that in an actual aquarium
How long do you leave the light on for each day?
Once back in water they will eventually melt emerged leaves and grow new submerged leaves, so what is the use of growing them outside water
How often do you water these plants?
the only problem is when aquarium plants are grown out of water they tend to rot away once placed back into full water enclosure
Any update on the progress of the plants
How do you keep mold from growing in the tubs?
G'day, Do you have any tips for floating plants outside of fish tank? Please make a video if you have. :)
What was the light you used? cheers
What temperature do you keep this setup, would it be an issue to keep around 15 degree
do you put a hole in the bottom or top of the tube?
Bunnings tubs? I think I keep my fish in these when I do a tank rebuild. :D
Can you make a video on how to breed pea puffers?
How many times do u water them??
I live in Sydney and want to set up 4 or 5 tanks to breed tropicals. What size tank to you recommend [ inches or cm not just volume ] for Angels and guppies etc,
There goes my wallet for the weekend 😂 BRB, buying more plants. Did you use any fertilisers?
He used hydroponics fertilizer
Is it better to use a clear tank, or opaque tub?
I'd say use a tub with a clear lid, it's easy to move around and affordable.
@@Banamabolt didn't know if the opaque sides reflected the 'soft white' type light. Not sure what the light requirements would be for terrestrial planting vs submerged.
@@chia_pet7121 I think it would be better to have opaque sides as it might trap in some of the light verses a clear tub?
As for lighting, they say somewhere between a kelvin range between 5000 and 7000 mimics daylight settings but I have grown emersed plants between 2000 - 3500k.
There is a guy called Aquarium Plant Lab who has done a video similar to Nick's emersed tub setup. The information provided is very detailed as he explains the reasoning behind his setup and methods.
I'm gonna try out the LED lights he uses which have a colour temp of 2900k and a brightness of 1800 lumens.
Would this work with bucephalandra?
Hey doesn't anyone know what light this is?
So its ok to plant anubias in soil i thought it needs to grow in rocks
Pure soil / mix ??
I did the same but ended up getting algae on it how did you found the way out
You did not get any mold? How?
my question too
Cool video! The music is a bit much though
can you do this by using tubs outside instead?
Good question… could it get too hot?
You could, but you'd also likely encounter a considerable amount of algae. No that it's a bad thing I guess
I tried this and I got a bunch of fungus gnats and small moth-like flies
😅It grows more in water😅
Suiiii
This could be useful for growing new plants quickly, but when these plants are introduced to an aquarium the leaves will melt away and it'll take some time to regrow them.
is that fact or assumption?
@@jeevaengg fact. it's called melting or converting. The plants will produce different leaves when grown submerged vs emerged. When the plant is moved from emersed to submerged those leaves will die off and the appropriate ones will grow in their place. Typically underwater leaves are a lot more narrow and flexible.
First ❤❤
No you're not
growth in water is better quality
but the big problem is when you submerge the plants, they are going to have a state of shock ..then the plants are goin to die. Can you pls teach us the right way? (don't teach this for newbie)
Do you think 2 african dwarf frogs, some red cherry shrimp and a few neon tetras is ok for an 8gal tank?

*I watched the video without sound:*
absolutely annoying terrible idiotic music in background.
