Those kits have come a long way. They do such a great job now. I prefer the ones that use the drill for the sanding pads too. Makes it easyer to get out the deep imperfections.
Bought the actual last kit the local "Benny's" store had before the whole chain of stores closed! Used it on my BMW Z4, the difference is amazing! Patience is a virtue & following up with the clear coat is a must!.otherwise all your hard work will be wasted in 3months time.👍
My Z4 lights were pretty bad. I used the 3M kit. A pro told me to mask off and use automotive clear coat. Applied 5 layers to my headlights and they still looks great after a year.
OMG ......Thank you so much, I tried it in both of my cars and it looks like New. I wish I can post a picture ....and am girl and I did it all by self wu, wu, thanks
Off is the best trick with the best results ive seen so far, but if your gonna use a kit, Sylvania is one of the best of the kits, Maguires is one of the worst. theres a video comparing the 5-6 top kits
These kits work for DIY but if they had it done by a professional they would be disappointed...only about 10 percent can be restored like new ..most have inside damage from projectors & moisture problem leaving water marks
Just spray insect repellent, Off, on the headlights & wipe it off. Do this fast. Use a clean soft paper towel each time. When the towel no longer pulls off a residue, you will be done. This will last a long time, it's the easiest & cheapest method.
funny you say that, i carry a can in my truck. I had a run in with one of those gastation headlight restoration guys with the $30 cans, i did a challenge with the Off, i went first, the guy just walked away🤣
I wouldn't apply the clear coat ..it seems to soft for bee's, wasp, grasshoppers & small pebbles it will be cloudy in 6 months ..the plastics seems alot harder so I would do the ceramic coating & buff every 6 months without having to sand & reapply the clear
I have clear "bra's" on the front of my cars, which also include the headlights. So far its been five years and the lenses look brand new. So after making your lenses all shiny and new looking, you should have clear film (bra) that is UV rated placed over them. It's a little pricy but so worth it for many cars, especially ones with expensive lenses that don't always polish out and need to be replaced.
I don't believe in snake oil.Because it doesn't work! I have seen others fail. Protect painted areas.use common scenes tape or remove. start with wet sand 400 600 grit depending on cloudiness. Don't be very aggressive until you see how it cuts. work in one direction only, work your way up to 800. then use a power buffer to polish. use a product like Meguiar's DIAMOUND CUT COMPOUND 2.0 85. When you are using a power buffer.the heat that is generated seals the plastic. One could make a business of doing this. takes about an hour per light, depending on how bad. Last for years!
Or you could and it from 500 up to 3000 and then use a 25 dollar vapor canister from Amazon with acetone And like magic it restores the headlight You do have to seal it with something if you want it to last more then a year But the canister is pretty good The best route is to wet sand it up to 800 Finishing with horizontal strokes and shoot it with a 2K clear coat SprayMax makes one especially for headlights Clear coating it will make it last for 10 years
Plastic is easier to manipulate to create a better design different shapes. That's the only reason they stop using it. it's kind of dumb if you think about it

My headlights have started to go yellow from the inside 😫 time for new headlamps
are you sure it's from inside?

With no clear coat you get about a month , with the clear you get 3-6 months
How long did it last till you restored it again bud?
Or use 3m rubbing compound and a rag…?
No need to sand use merzerna 400 an buff it… 1 step
The smart car
Do a hyabusa swap
