Still had a problem of dropping stitches after 4 tries I did it long tail. But I will try again. I was getting upset with myself and about to put myself in the corner 🥹
This is by far the best teaching of tubular cast on. Thank you! I’m unable to find the instructions for doing in the round. Can you help me to find it? Thanks again!
2:48 you mention a tubular cast on knitting in the round video - this is the technique I need to learn. Can you post the link here ? I can’t find it on your channel
Thanks to both of you for asking! My knitting has been interrupted by life and a move. I am finally settled and planning to get back to knitting and making tutorials!
I am about to make the Weekender sweater and found your video from another Raveler's notes. If I need to cast on 117 stitches I can't divide this evenly. So do I just do 58 and add two more?
I’m so sorry- I had best if intentions of making that video - I stepped away from knitting for the last year and a half - just picked it back up and am starting to make videos again. That is on my list!! Happy knitting! 🧶🧶💃
I love your method! I am knitting The Weekender, and her tutorial for tubular cast on was really difficult and finicky. I also love that you are doing the English/throwing method, because that is how I knit! My question is, for the tubular cast on, should I use two sizes smaller needles for that, then switch to one size bigger for the ribbing? I only used one size down (from the larger size for the body) for the tubular cast on, and plan on continuing with the same size. I wonder if I messed that up?
I am so glad you are finding my tutorial helpful! Thanks for letting me know! I think you will be just fine doing the cast in and ribbing in one size smaller than the body. The idea is just to bring the ribbing in a bit for the edge is the sweater - and sometimes ribbing can flair out. I would just keep going as you have started. Happy knitting! I hope you enjoy making your Weekender and it comes out fabulous!!
Thank you for showing this using ‘English’ knitting. All the other videos I have seen are ‘continental’ method which I don’t know how to do. Tried it 40 years ago but I just couldn’t get it.
I don’t have a video … it would be slightly different… I have taken a hiatus from knitting for the last year - went thru a big life change … just now getting back to it … it’s so nice - like coming back to an old friend! I have it in my list to do a 2x2 rib tubular cast on video - first I’m finishing a sock video - they are addictive!! Thanks for watching and commenting! Happy knitting!! 🧶🧶💃
I followed this method to make a waist band with no problem, no I want to make the cuffs and cannot find your video for tubular cast on knitting in the round . Can you please give me the link?
Thank you for replying . I Wanted to follow your method in the round cause it is wonderfully explained while knitting flat. I found yr video on the weekender so tried to follow that ! I hope I am doing it right 🙏😊
Thank you for showing this method when knitting using ‘english’ or ‘right handed’ knitting. All the others I have seen are ‘continental’ and I don’t know how to knit that way…and honestly, don’t want to learn…lol. I tried about 40 years ago and it just didn’t click.
@@knittingwhimsy I have a question about this type of casting on because after taking a knitting break of about 35 years, am going to try again. Can this type of cast in be used for a sweater, knitted from bottom up, or would I be better off to cast on using the other finger or two needle method. Thanks.
Yes - this can definitely be used for a bottom up knitted sweater. That is actually what this sample is - it is the bottom of Andrea Mowry’s The Weekender sweater.
Yes - you just need to join in the round - this can be done after set up row 2 & 3. Then you need to be aware of the stitches you are slipping and knitting or purling - as you are working in the round. I am going to be posting a video on this soon!
@@em751 Unfortunately I don’t have a sample in front of me, and I remember there being something a bit tricky about it. I suggest just fudging with a k2tog - but being aware of how this impacts the ‘Purl’ and ‘knit’ ridges so as it to mess up your pattern. Better to have an extra stitch and your k1, p1 pattern be right. Not a ‘rocket science’ response - sorry - but hope you have figured it out and your project is going well!!
Thanks so much - I’m glad you like it. I will keep slowing down in mind for future videos. Also if it’s helpful you can click the 3 dots at top of video and adjust playback speed. That sometimes comes in handy for me! Happy knitting!!
EXCELLENT. FIRST TIME I HAVE WATCHED A VIDEO THAT MADE TUBULAR UNDERSTANDABLE ALSO LOVE THE DIRECTIONS IN A POST I WILL FOLLOW YOU❤❤

Would love to know how to join this in the round properly and also where the last stitch is supposed to come from?

@@latitude1904 I haven’t …. Sorry … best of intentions but yet to get to
I found a perfect video for tubular cast on in the round. It's on RUclips. Search "Circular Tubular Cast On for 1x1 Rib" by Cushion of Joy

Hello, you mentioned a video how to join in the round but I can't find it. I'm very interested in knowing how to do that.
2:35 Yes, where is the video you mention about joining this cast on in the round?
Why would anyone do it any other way?! This method is neater AND far simpler than others I’ve tried. Thank you!
I know right ?! Glad you found this helpful! Thanks for letting me know! Happy knitting 🧶 🧶💃
What would you do differently to end up with an even # of stitches?

When do you add the missing stitch?
You're tutorial is the easiest to understand so thank you so much! Would the setup rows be the same for a 2 x 2 rib?
