Do not I repeat do not do it this way, you risk, breaking boots, and destroying new seals, not only if you put the driveshaft one spine off you could blow you ring and pinion or gearbox bearing. Do it right or don’t do it atall.

I have done it several times this way. Not once have I broke a boot, destroyed seals, or misaligned a spline.
