Why? If she made the agreement with the defendant and not her grandson, what legal grounds does she have to sue him?
That was my first thought as soon as JJ outlined the case. Sadly, this poor grandma loves her grandson too much to do that. And he is taking complete advantage of her :( I would feel devastated if I knew my poor grandma took out a high interest $1000 loan to get my sorry arse out of gaol! I'd not be able to sleep until I paid her back!

Judge Judy is just frustrated that the money was loaned in the first place. And, that the Grandmother isn't going after the Grandson first. I feel bad for the Plaintiff, but she should have said she couldn't come up with the money. Especially if it's true that the Defendant and another woman just wanted him out to "figure out who he wanted to he with". Let the 3 of them come up with the bail and leave the Plaintiff out of it. So sad.
It sounds a little like Grandma felt that by giving the money, the baby mother would be more inclined to let her see her great-grandchild because she kept bringing up how she took the baby away. its sad. The grandson is irresponsible and stressing his grandma out

There is no court in America that can enforce visitation to a grandparent. There's (definitely) no court that can enforce visitation to a great grandparent. In fact, the defendant could get a court order banning the plaintiff from having any contact with her child. The money was used to bail her grandson out of jail. The plaintiff needs to be suing her BUM grandson.

The moment she got a new bf, we were banned from seeing my niece. My mum sued and got grandparents visitation rights. That was 30 years ago, but in France, I don't know about the US law.

Grandparents do not automatically have rights to see grandchildren but if it’s harmful to the children to cut off the relationship between them and a grandparent, the court can grant them visitation.

I don’t feel bad for the plaintiff. She knew she didn’t have the money. He was locked up for something dumb probably. She should have left him in there. If BOTH of the baby mothers couldn’t come up with $500 each, since they wanted him to pick them so bad then oh well. They could have bonded him out or something. Are we watching the same clip the only thing the defendant said was the age difference between the first baby and hers. And better question since he was the one that needed bail why didn’t she sue him or the other mother. The defendant acted as an agent for the grandson. Yes it sad but this matter is for family court. That money wasn’t use for her or the baby.
Because she chose to enable her grandson and these women in the hopes that she'd win favor to see her grandchildren. And because she doesn't have a case, legally. Grandparents don't have any rights to see their grandchildren. And notice how she's suing these girls and not her grandson.
