@@EB-bl6cc I played a lot of it this year and...people were massively unfair to it imo, especially since it's sins were bad early multiplayer bugs and NOT being this game. I loved it. Great enemy variety, world is beautiful and fun to explore, some of the dungeons surprised me with how good they felt or how wide reaching they were. And when you do quests that can have a direct outcome you get to see the outcome. Give a guy stuff to repair a wall in the second town so he can restart his vegetable garden? You better believe you get the wall and the garden. Get a hunter to start patrolling the nearby wolf cave and the spawns in it change to beetles. The game is Zelda with Gauntlet combat and a pixel art art-style. Legendary items are on point, they straight up give you new skills or make similar impactful changes and the classes are fun to the point of being overdone. The wizard gets to change their basic attack based on what items they're holding and there's good variety. Pew-pew, bolts, laser, it's there. And the bosses, side bosses included can be surprisingly aggressive and challenging. The game's major issues are that it starts slow and doesn't signpost it's good sides.

Edit: So near the end he mentions this seems to be going more toward a run based roguelike... For those curious, Hammerwatch and Heroes of Hammerwatch are different games. Heroes of Hammerwatch was a roguelite type games, you could upgrade your town and level up to gain power to make the runs easier but the game also had more difficulty levels and completing a run with each class upgraded your stats permanently. There was pretty much limitless progression.
HoH was amazing, I don't have much faith in HoH2 after playing the demo. They shouldn't have worked on Hammerwatch 2 imo, only HoH. it took him 30 minutes to do one run after launching the game, the game takes way too long when first one spawned you in the town after launching the game. Then the open forest, it looks nice but it feels terrible to play as you're very easily lost in the linear-maze that they build. The first game spawned you in the bottom floor of the tower which immediately gave you the first staircase to the next floor, the maps felt much more concise. And also were randomly generated which I hope this would also be.
@@lynxlagoon I am hoping it is closer to HOH than the original Hammerwatch in terms of map design. Those original handcrafted maps got a little convoluted and difficult to navigate or remember where to return to do certain things. There is something so satisfying and special and nostalgic about this type of graphic design in games. (Yes I know it’s not EXACTLY the same but it’s a similar pixel sprite design.)
